Default Marys Yummy Apple Soup!!

Hi guys

Just thought ide share with you my fantastic recipe for APPLE SOUP!! yes I know it sounds riduculous but this is truly a life saver for me... I have been using this recipe for years, and its fullproof and delish. Ive only been on cohens for around 5 days but prior to this i was loosing weight the hard and long way for around 4 years, i managed to loose 50kg on my own, but decided to start cohens for quick sollution to the 20kg i had left. I was so excited when i noticed that I could incorporate my daily allowance of fruit in my Apple Soup recipe and use it here as well so Anyway back to the soup..

This soup is amazing, you can eat it as many times as you want in the day and as much as you want, it serves as a life saver for sugar cravings and when your hungry, its also one of the best and natural ways to stay regular.. I use this soup as a base to many other recipes which i have listed below.. which im sure youll enjoy as much as i do.., im pretty sure we can enjoy this soup any time of the day and eat as much as we want cause it only contains two apples which is our fruit allowance for the day, please let me know if im wrong..

APPLE SOUP..
2 red delicious apples (may be any type of apple or one red one green) SKIN ON
2 litres of water
1 teaspoon of cardomon
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 clove (optional)
2 teaspoons of sweetner to taste(optional for the not so sweet tooth)
fresh mint for garnish (optional)

method: Wash and core apples, DO NOT PEEL, peel = roughage = fibre = regular BM = you!
boil apples in 2 litres of water, add cardomon, cinnamon, sweetner, and clove and boil on high until apples begin to break down or become mushy, (remove cloves)
now heres the fun bit.. if you want to conserve your stewed apples for some other treat during the day simply remove half the amount of apples blend and chill for later. if not remove from heat and allow to cool slighty, use your bamix or hand mixer and pulverise the apples in the saucepan roughly, REMEMBER DO NOT REMOVE WATER thats the soup!!
place back on heat and simmer until warm.. serve in soup bowls with a garnish of fresh mint, and some croutons (crushed saladas)

variations and additional recipes
*freeze in ice block moulds for a apple ice block in summer, one batch makes around 12 little ice blocks yum
*for your children replace sweetner with raw sugar and freeze in moulds for a healthy ice block treat
*sip out of mugs for a great alternative to tea or coffee

** APPLE SOUP BREAKFAST SMOOTHY**
300mls apple soup cooled
175g yogurt from allowance frozen
ice
blend all ingredients together and treat your self for a better than boost juice health shake for breakfast!

**APPLE ICECREAM**
Prepare soup as above chill
add 175grams of yogurt
freeze until have frozen, remove from freezer add half a can of diet sprite, whip with electric hand beater until frothy, re freeze until solid, serve with two crisp breads as your ice cream waffles for a fantastic summer brunch...

and for the cocktail lovers with out the alcohol...

**APPLETINI**
prepare soup as above
allow to chill,
add crushed ice and 250mls of soup to drink shaker, shake vigorously.
pour into round wine glasses, top with a thin slice of lemon and a sprig of mint... yum!

**LONG ISLAND ICE TEA**
prepare soup as above
allow to chill
add crushed ice, 250mls soup and 1/2 can of diet sprite to drink shaker, shake vigorously
pour into long glasses, add a twist of lemon, and slide a thin slice down the side of the glass... mmmm

well I hope you guys enjoy this stuff as much as I do and please let me know... Ill will post some more of my recipes as soon as i road test them first.. which will be soon..

thanks

Mary Tee

These sound Fantastic! The only issue I can see is the amount of spices in them. Our programs generally say... a MAXIMUM of one teaspoon of spices per day... so if people want to also add spices to their meals then there are some problems with this...

I know that lessening the quantity of spices changes the taste... but ... for those that want to enjoy this and stay within their limits of spices... my suggestion is to modify these quantities a bit...

It totally sounds Delish Though!

hmm thats interesting about the spices does that include fresh herbs as well? what about if we were to use a cinnomon stick instead of the powder and maybe add a vanilla bean? and some cloves we would of course remove them once we boil them would that work? would taste yum with vanilla *gets new ideas as she sips her soup*

Hey Martee.. well for starters it probably wouldn't hurt to read your program again cause it's all there

No vanilla beans or vanilla essence are allowed.. fresh herbs are OK but they have to be included in your veggie allowance.. so if you were having it around lunch time you'd have to take the weight of the herbs for one serve into consideration when weighing out your amounts for lunch.
Taking out the cloves is fine & I cant see why a cinnamon stick wouldn't be OK.. probably better really? (Anyone else know?)

And of course if we make the full amount you mentioned we have to remember to spread it out through the day, not all at once..

I'm trying the ice-cream today for lunch although with my little twist to it I'm really looking forward to it.

Hi Mary! I can sense the "frustrated" Chef in you coming out.... Again your ideas sound so great...

Unfortunately we cant use ANY vanilla... for anything! (which has really sucked cos I LOVE VANILLA Diet coke)... When it comes to fresh herbs and spices we have to incorporate them as part of our vege allowance...so we can definitely enjoy them.. we just have to account for them differently.

In regards to the cinnamon stick... ...I'm not sure... part of me goes... "sure why not... you're taking it out right"... but then another part of me says... it still breaks down and it will be more than the alloted amount.... it might be something worth chatting to your consultant about.

If you do chat with them... let us know!

Blessya

Hey Marttee.. afraid you have to stop .. I know a few clinics differ on this one but I believe the official word is no eating of ANYTHING after 9pm

My ice-cream was different LOL.. I think I put too much Sprite Zero in it cause it froze so hard like an ice block.. but once it melted a little it was divine
