Fair Rose's Diary
After rethinking, i realised that I've actually LOST 7kg in just over a month and it clicked. If i were not on Cohen's i'd still have been at 70+ kg. I am at my lowest weight i've ever been in years! I decided to settle on a BMI in the midrange but being only 152cm in height, i may have to consider a lower BMI. If, no....WHEN i reach it I'll see how that BMI looks on me and weigh up whether i need to go on or not. As for deviation..I had 2 that were deliberate and it was rather special occasions where not eating might have offended the hosts. I didn't overdo it and was back on track immediately after the offerings. I know that deviating sets one back but i am not beating myself up abt it becos it was planned and NOT becos i was weak! To overcome the plateau i up'd my water intake to just over 3lt and cut down on the sodas and gum. I actually found that too much can trigger hunger. I also realised that SLEEP is important! If one sleeps early, it allows for the diet to do its thing AND avoids late night hunger pangs. I think i've said enuff for now..Hope to get support thru'out the journey..and like i mentioned elsewhere on the forum, the support here makes up for the lack of it by my local consultant( She's a nice person but it's not as if i can call up on her for every lil detail) So g'bye for now |

Hi Rose
Well done on starting a diary! You'll be so glad you did. You've done very well so far and I'm sure you're going to breeze through this last bit. As we've got about the same amount left to lose to goal weight I thought we may spur each other on. I look forward to following your journey and seeing you sprint over the "finish" line of phase one! Welcome aboard FR!
5 weeks already and you are almost half way already! Fantastic work. You are so right, 5 weeks on any other program would not have got you these results! Fantastic to hear that you are at the lowest weight you can remember in a long time! It feels fantastic, doesn't it! I only lost 7.6kgs in my first 4 weeks and I was a LOT heavier than you when I started! Everyone is unique! Your deliberate deviations and getting back on track straight away are not an issue. The main thing is you got back on track and that it was worth it to you putting back your weightloss a week or two. As you progress on this journey you seriously consider whether that set back is worth it or not. You are doing what is best for you and that is the most important thing! Keep going strong and you will surely achieve your goal!! Vee |

HI Rose
Congratulations - you've lost over 45 % of what you wish to loose already - well done. Rose, I think one of the things we learn to do on Cohens is be conscious about food. Sounds like you have planned well, ie very consciously , around your social situations. Do whatever works for you and I like that you take full responsibility for that. I wish you well on the journey - you will be there before you know it. Well done Shanara

Thenewvee and shanara..thanks for stopping by
I must admit, those deviations were like sinning!! Nobody mentions cheating/deviating and i was wondering if any one here EVER does??? It's like being among Cohen's Angels!! I really don't think that i could last longer than 3 months, so i do admire those who go for longer. The results are awesome!! Not that i crave anything specific, but i wish to eat something else! It's the same day in and day out and i am truly happy with the results but the menu is driving me crazeeeee! BUT it is a small price to pay knowing what'll be at the end. It's amazing how we view ourselves. At 70 kg + i never thought i was fat, maybe just a little plump. Even others feed you with this sense of security regarding ones weight. Then, my 4yr old son takes a profile pic of me with my cell phone and lo and behold i see a freaking RHINO!! So what if my BMI said i was 31....I was a teensy bit OBESE. For some reason somehow the overweight category didn't really count in my mind. Strange....or just looking for excuses?....well HERE i am making a change and boy what a change. I don't see much of a change cos i still have the preggie belly flap and i still have a butt i'd rather not see, BUT size 12's are now big on me and i am not even half way there! SO woohoo to me AND my 4 yr old for making me see the lite!!! To prove once again how we look for excuses...the big one for me... *drumroll* "I have a large build/ frame!" As it turns out, from 2 charts i've seen, my frame is SMALL() just bordering on medium. So..my mom's big, my bro's are big and my father is big..true..and here i happened to be 152cm tall(all of them are much taller than me btw) As if that height didn't make it obvious that i was the odd one out, and the fact that two of my aunts of similar height and what i consider as obese wasn't some hint......how on earth did i ever come to the conclusion that i was ok becos my weight wasn't to bad for my 'large' frame??? The delusions we find ourselves trapped in! I am having a good laff abt it now although i have the slightest feeling i would have had nuthing to laff abt had i not started doing sumthing abt it! Ya..so things are changing and a pleasant change it is. SO back to my cohens daily diary.. breakfast: garlic 'bread' with mushrooms and salad snack:apple lunch: ostrich steak with asparagus and mushrooms snack: cling peach Supper: pending |

Hi Rose
I agree with the others - 7 kilos in a month is certainly not to be scoffed at, especially since you don't have a whole lot to lose to start with! I had about the same to lose as you and I averaged a 5+kg loss per month. But as has been said here, nothing to complain about since these are the best results I've ever had on a programme! Keep up the great work and you'll be done and dusted in no time at all. All the best! |

Look at you go you are doing so well!!!
Hope you have a great weekend! It's funny how photo's show us something we never saw in the mirror... I found that too. You know you are ready for a change when you see a photo, do a double take and say "that can't be me!" |

Thanks Francesca and Elabelle..
Today my sis in law asked me if i'm losing weight...she was extremely surprised by how much i have lost in the past 6wks. . When i look in the mirror and i see a side profile of myself i see a difference, especially after putting on clothing that were too tight. However, when i look down at myself i don't see anything..strange. BUT YAY!!! i can't believe the scales...yes i said scales. I bought a new one after i thought my old one was wonky, but it turns out that it's right. My consultant's scale is off...far off...like 3 kilo's off! I really don't know how u guys manage this for months. I am dying...can't wait to finish! Yet, totally scared of refeeding and maintenance. I guess it's the small variety of veggies that's killing me. I can't stand half of them!! But i bite it down and stick to salads rather than cooked. BUT...i will persevere becos THIS GOONIE never says DIE!! So my menu today: B/F: Coffee yoghurt with sweetener and a cracker and half an apple snack: cracker Lunch: grilled chicken asparagus, grilled tomato, shrooms and gem squash snack: cling peach(YUMMY) supper: grilled ostrich with asparagus, shrooms and salad and 2 crackers half an apple 3.2lt h20 |

Hi Fair Rose!
You are doing a great job! Just keep on keeping on! You might like to take a different approach to how difficult this program is and that you can't wait to be finished. This type of thinking can lead you right back to where you started this program! This program is about more than just losing the weight, it is also about being able to keep it off for the rest of your life! And as such, habits and thinking usually need to be changed to achieve this! Yes, the topic deviation has come up quite a few times on this forum! Here are a couple of "must reads" for you! http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthr...ight=deviation http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthr...ight=deviation I know you are doing really well, and that you are not thinking of deviating at all as your successes so far are really motivating you, and that is fantastic! Sometimes things get a bit tougher along the journey, as old issues can raise their heads, and then the thoughts of missing out on foods and wanting to be finished can drive one to fall off the wagon! Many really struggle to get back on track when that happens, so it's better to not fall off at all! Hope you find this info useful! I would love nothing better for you to reach goal with ease and I'll be one of the first to celebrate with you! Keep going strong! Vee |

I'm a 50's girl YAY!! Ok so it's only by like 100g but still, it's a place i haven't been in such a very very very long time . Weighed in at 59.9 kg this morn. I have found a trend...i found that my weight loss slows down drastically the week after TOM....I was hoping i could be ordering refeed in 2 weeks but after the past week i had, i don't really see that happening As for the holidays....back to work tomorrow and the last public holiday this week then back to busy busy busy. We'll have to deal with all of those who overindulged over the season and ending up sick always the same every year. Here's to the last 5kg's. Ate out today and had to settle for salmon instead of other fish so hope it didn't make a huge dent in my program. Until next time...au revoir |

Thanks so much Mette and Ren
I have a feeling the last lil bit is gonna take a while. I had two days this week that i felt i was dying of hunger and it really made me want to cheat. I decided to have an extra piece of fruit instead. I can't believe it but i have gone down 2 dress sizes. I started at size 36( uk 12) and bought a skirt yesterday which is a size 32( Uk 8 ) AND it was a lil loose at the waist!!!! WOW..I LUUUUUUUVVVV COHEN'S... Yet, the strange thing is that i still don't see that much of a change when i look in the mirror. I bought a dress that was a size small for the 1st time and fitted on a wrap top and the attendant told me it was too BIG! Unfortunately, no smaller size..alas The big BUM*er though is that my bra size has super shrunk from a DD to a mere cup B(btw...i have a feeling that that might change to an A..aww..the price we pay. You win some u lose right? Until next time |

I don't see it in the mirror either, Rose. I have a feeling that we still wear 'fat-goggles' when we look at ourselves. And it sure does show in the clothes. I'm going to need new pants again soon, because I can pull most of them off without undoing them now!

Hey Fair Rose - amazing to see a south african on here - am just sitting watching a 2020 cricket match between Australia and South Africa while I look at diaries. Makes me laugh cause a while ago checking out my families genealogy I found out my great great grand uncle played cricket for south africa (so just a little connection). So anyway - hope to catch up with you occassionally through the journey - although you look very close to goal (way to go!!!)
Cheers - Kay. |
