Hooray to all those preparing meals for many!
Not only is food prep requiring more time, energy and focus for ourselves, we are continuing to feed our children and partners. Quite often my 2yo and hubby will eat the same thing, but not always. Now and then hubby will cook up his meal if I have been the supplier and prep-chef which is nice! Means we can eat together, rather than me sitting down half way through his! Often my boys will eat the same thing 2 nights in a row! Often their meal is a little quick compared to how it used to be (they are eating a lot more pasta and frozen chips!!) But mostly, I am making a big effort for them because this choice was my own, alone, and they do not need to be restricted because of my journey. Still, preparing all the yummy food which I handle and give a good smell of during preparation means quite often my choice is challenged. Wow, I must be so very strong at this point!! I have been doing a little "wine tasting" (taste/chew/spit/rinse mouth out with water) for my 2yo and it is like I cannot get the food out of my mouth fast enough!! I am a changed woman. I used to snack all day on my son's meals and left overs. I think this was my weakest feature of my food habits. So much more comes with this journey than just the kgs falling off. Anyway, a big hooray for us for taking on so much more than the diet itself. (i had a whole row of celebrating emoticons, but the limit is 4!! So see next entry...) |

Re: Hooray to all those preparing meals for many!
LOL! Good for you TS... I definately sympathise with those who need to cook for others... I live with my sister and her 2 boys and even I struggle and I don't even have to touch the food, just see it and smell it, and watch them eat it. So, yes, I second the pat on the back for all of you!!!

Re: Hooray to all those preparing meals for many!
Thanx TS,
I have my Hubby + 3 lil Kiddies (5 y.o. + 4 y.o. & a 1 y.o.), who ALL in themselves, are right lil' fuss-pots I have actually found it quite challenging to juggle their meals as well as my own..as atm for me, I'm so consumed in this Cohen's programme, that I forget to think about them. Hopefully once I find my groove, it'll settle down and everything will become second nature to me. So far I have stayed strong, & have had no deviations (all tho, I nearly had a close call yesterday ) and am giving this 100% like I should be. |

Re: Hooray to all those preparing meals for many!
I hear you girl, and I nodded my head in recognition when I read the finishing off kids meals and snacks it sounds exactly like me and I too occasionally have to do the "wine tasting" thing with my babies food to check the temp.
Surprisingly I havn't found it too difficult preparing all the different meals I cook a normal meal for my husband, 3 yr old & 2 yr old and for my 10 month old twins I do a big cook up every 5 days or so and freeze it for them and for me while I'm preparing the other meal I simply wrap my meat in foil with some herbs throw it in the oven for 10 mins and my vegies take 4 mins in the microwave. So far that has worked for us, I suppose I don't get to cook up all the yummy recipes I see on here but I'm not sick of what I've been eating yet in fact I look forward to it. But pat on the back to us for doing it, I'm sure alot of people use this (having to prepare multiple meals) as an excuse not to take care of themselves and as a way of convincing themselves that it all too hard. If anyone is reading this who has kids and is contemplating starting this diet but thinks it's too hard IT'S NOT just do it, you will kick yourself for putting it off a day longer, if I can do it with 4 kids under 4 you can do it too! |

Re: Hooray to all those preparing meals for many!
Good work! It sounds like you are doing well coping with these added pressures and distractions.
Whilst, I don't have children I can feel your pain. I spend 2 hours today plating food to check it for a festival we are doing on the weekend. It was killing me not to taste it as well, but got as many other people as I could to. Then I spend the afternoon literally spitting out wine. It is really hard not to be hungry when you are constantly trying to smell & "taste" things! Last edited by hellomilkyway; 29-10-2009 at 22:22. |
