The most important thing I have learned...
I don't care if you've been on this programme for one day or one year. I don't care if you're currently deviating or if you've been perfect. We all have learned something to share. It might be how to avoid a deviation, it might be a practical thing, it might be some insightful sage wisdom, it might be a new philosophy or a new lease on life... Enquiring minds want to know.... Yours in breathless anticipation Debs |

Re: The most important thing I have learned...
1. It's not about the food...
Baloo said it best. This programme is 90% mental. 'Nuff said. 2. I'm worth it. I can be better, stronger and healthier. and I'm worth it |

Just because you've reached your goal, it doesn't mean it's over.

Re: The most important thing I have learned...
Sorry Debs I have been trying to think of the right words to write. I could probably write a 3000 essay on what i have learnt but don't worry I won't be
In point form some of the things I have learnt include: * I am an emotional eater and will always struggle with this BUT i am now aware of this and have found other ways of dealing with the emotional stuff. * I will always have that pesky temptation 'demon' sitting on my shoulder but now I am the smallest I have been in 30yrs I will brush that demon off my shoulder - HA HA HA HA ( evil laugh!) *I was Obese and I have not been honest with myself. Facing up to my obesity, a word I have always HATED and could never say and accepting that I was obese has been important for me. Seeing my father suffering heart disease, diabetes, breathing difficulties etc etc over the last 12 months has made me realise that my life could easily have headed in the same direction if I had not accepted my obesity. *Support - having full support from my husband after years of failed attempts at other 'diets' and no emotional support - mind you it is the first time in our marriage that he has been totally supportive but he is enjoying the benefits BUT it is also the right time for me. I am at the right place/time/headspace to lose weight and accept all the things that I could not accept before. ALSO support on this forum. Though I may be one of those 'lurkers' who occassionally responds to others posts ( i am trying really hard to read and respond to more posts; if I only had more time......) The knowledge, help, encouragement, new ideas, recipes - the list goes on, that we receive on the forum is extraordinary. Thank -you to one and all for all the help. I know it was more than 2 things but at lest it wasn't the essay! Till next time Elise xxx |

Re: The most important thing I have learned...
If the food demon is yelling at you at night go to bed and ignore it.
Drink a diet soda or two of choice when you get the munchies if water just isn't doing it. Knowing that you cannot go back to the old ways of eating if you want to maintain your weight loss. Don't tell anyone what you weight loss diet is until your done. pudge |

The second thing I have learnt is also post Cohen's
I really really like having the choice of the rack of clothes because I am so small.

Re: The most important thing I have learned...
1. The products we have been deceived with for so long as being good healthy choices are so full of extra garbage that we may as well eat the packaging and throw away the contents.
2. Eating good healthy food does not require any more time, effort or cost.

Re: The most important thing I have learned...
All diets are 90% mental - even just to start them.
The 2 most important things I have learned since starting Cohens are: 1. I am the author of my life so if I want to be successful and slim it's up to me to write my own story (no one else can do i for me) - do or do not - there is no try! I'm the only one putting the food in my mouth and if I stick to my programme i WILL succeed! 2. Dr Cohen has turned me into a finely tuned fat burning machine and if I stick to my eating plan, drink lots of water, get plenty of sleep I won't get cravings and even if I do - nothing can taste as good as slim is going to feel!

Re: The most important thing I have learned...
just because you are having a bad day does not mean you are allowed to relax in terms of food. If you think about all the other people in the world that either dont have a job or work in some production line or dont have enough money to survive, i would say man i am having a had day but they are having a bad day everyday but they still plug on.
There is a homeless man near my work i walk past every morning and see him. He says got a nikel for me love. I always say sorry not today ( i dont want him to go buy another packet of smokes or something, even though i know i should give him money, do it once and he will look for more) but you know he always smiles back and says ok darl thanks. I always think man he still manages to smile, what am i winging about over some cake i can no longer eat when he probably hardly ever eats a treat at all... ???
