Question Banana Yogurt smoothie?

Hi
In the refeed it says that we shouldn't have fruit for breakfast; does this mean that having a banana mixed in yogurt for breakfast would not be a good idea?

I would have the smoothie if you wanted it. I had bluberrys mixed with yoghurt one morning. I have a Banana on a piece of toast EVERY morning after my yoghurt.

I had half a fruit with yoghurt for breakfast throughout my diet and increased that to one fruit with yoghurt in refeed, back to about half a fruit in yoghurt plus some fresh orange juice in maintenance. I think that the idea is that fruit for breakfast can make us hungry too soon. If you are coping okay with hunger prior to lunch, I think that what you are suggesting is okay.

Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time.

Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).

I believe the admonishment is no fruit BEFORE protein for breakfast. e.g., you shouldn't wake up and have a cup of fruit/juice before having your breakfast protein. Eating both at the same time is okay or having the fruit after is better yet. But not before as that can cause an insulin spike on an empty stomach.

Hi Chikita

I have had yoghurt with kiwi fruit since I first started the program in 2006

My maintenance program from then said no fruit before protein and no carbohydrates before mid morning. It is all about insulin production. No point in eating something which actually makes you hungry.

But maintenance is about finding what works for you. I have never been a juice drinker but other people drink litres of juice each week. My fruit allowance on the program is 3 pieces each day and I wouldn't want to have more than that anyway, whether eating it or drinking it

If you want banana with yoghurt keep the basic principles in mind and check whether this affects your weight. If not, then there is no harm in it for you

Cheers
Kristine
