Default Mette's refeed diary - I made it!

DAY 1
Starting weight: 65.4

Wauw. I made it! The first day in the second part of my Cohens journey. It's daunting and exciting, but ultimately I feel ready for the next step. My refeed is 18 days long, and I have so far planned my meals for the first 11 days. It's going to require a lot of planning and preparation and flexibility because of the commuting and working in Sydney, but I have faith that I'll get through it!

Today was nice and simple, just adding to the old protein and the old veg. It didn't look like a lot more, but mentally even the little change made a huge difference.

Didn't have a great start to the day though. Hardly had any sleep last night, both because of the heat and because I got attacked by a mosquito, so my thigh has two itchy welts So I was rather cranky this morning. I also think that lack of sleep was the reason I haven't lost any weight this week. Luckily, I had a very relaxing afternoon, so all feels right with the world again.

Thank you so much for stopping by my other diary Tess, Michele, Vee, Shanara, Jo, NBS, Becstar and Tara and anyone else reading this. Your support means the world to me, and the encouragement that everyone on the forum gives is simply amazing!

Really looking forward to tomorrow! I get to have PINEAPPLE!!!
Big, fatmelting hugs to you all!

Yay thanks for sharing I am so curious now for refeed as I am totally ready for it..

You deserve this Mette, your one inspirational lady that makes time to really continue to inspire all of us.

Ouch for the mossie bites. My daughter is really allergic to them. I put paw paw ointment on them and helps.

How cool your in refeed land... Cant wait to hear all about it..

Hope you get a good nite sleep tonight.

Hi Mette

Well done on starting Refeed

You have been very supportive of other people throughout your own journey, posting many encouragements so a double Well Done to you.

I have decided to change only the one meal during refeed, rather than fiddle about with varying amounts added to other meals.

Today was Day 1 Refeed for me, too, and yes, even the small increase in protein and vegetable, plus I could exchange bread for part of the crispbread allowance, and add in 1 Good Fruit means that I am nowhere ready for Meal 3 as yet.

Ah, well, the refeed is the most critical part of the program. Being 100% with refeed is very important and I am looking forward to gradually easing back into normal eating.

As we have started on the same day, even though my refeed is 2 days shorter than yours, we can buddy each other along. I work from home so my need to organise is not as complex as yours.

Good luck and I hope the pineapple tastes sweet as nectar for you

Cheers
Kristine

Welcome to refeed, Mette. I don't get to spend much time in diaries these days, but do try to get to the refeed diaries, and your friends from the diet phase tend to forget about you over here, and sometimes it can get quite lonely.

I had a very busy time over refeed, didn't know where I would be eating ahead of time, so couldn't plan ahead. I had some funny meals at times, but managed to get through okay with the various quantities. However, it's definitely a good idea to plan ahead, and to spend time working out what you will be eating for each meal.

Enjoy your refeed. Everyone worries they will add that extra kilo, but almost no one does. Dr C has worked it out well.

DAY 2
Starting weight: 65.4kg
Today's weight: 65.0kg
Total change: - 0.4kg

I feel very satisfied today! The amount of old protein and vegetable was the same as yesterday, but what was added was a new good fruit! I had pineapple for the first time in over 6 months and oh my lord, surely it is a sin to enjoy something that much! I don't know if it was because I was lucky and had a really juicy, sweet pineapple or if it was because of it being new, but no matter the reason, I was in heaven!

I also had a really good sleep last night, and I think that is why I lost 400 grams overnight. So all in all, I'm a happy little vegemite!

Thank you so much for stopping by Maria, CC, Kristine, Hopeful, AJ and Vee, and anyone else reading this!
AJ, yeah I'm guilty of forgetting that the refeed forum exists and I really appreciate you all taking the time to visit me here!

Take care everyone! Big fat-melting hugs to you all!

If you are eating yoghurt for breakfast, Mette, it's lovely with pineapple chopped up and stirred into it. I'm still eating yoghurt for breakfast, often with pineapple and blueberries.

Hey Mette (looking around at how spacious it is here)

Pineapple...................(drooling)

I think anything new added to our diets is really exciting but pineapple is a really good start. And 400grms down too WOW you are going to kick refeeds butt.

DAY 3
Starting weight: 65.4kg
Today's weight: 64.8kg
Total change: - 0.6kg

Another 200 grams down this morning. I wish I would be able to get as much sleep during the week, that would be awesome! Unfortunately, my body just doesn't seem to want to shut down when I'm going to work the next day. Thank goodness it's only 6 more weeks - 29 times commuting! Not that I'm counting or anything

Today's new addition was bread. Yuck! I used to like bread. I even toasted it to have with my cheese and veggies. I like my crispbreads better! On top of it all, I've felt bloated and crampy since eating it. So I've decided to leave the bread alone for now. I might try it later on in the refeed, but I really don't want to feel this way again, especially since I don't even enjoy the taste.

We went to an Australia Day BBQ at a friend's house today, and it was also a birthday celebration. I brought my own lunch and an apple and an orange. Honestly, I had no problems with the food or the birthday cake that was served. Didn't want it. Odd. Good, but odd. 4 months ago I would have been close to tears with cravings for the cake, but it just looked... like too much cream. So that's a victory, right?

Thank you so much for visiting AJ, Aslan, Tara and Jo and anyone else reading this! I really appreciate your support!
Gotta go, time for dinner! And a pineapple dessert! YUM!

I hope the birthday was successful despite you kicking the butt of the food on offer I'm sure everyone else would've enjoyed your share (and I suspect, if you HAD tried, your tum would have been screaming in agony by now.... )

So, well done you !! Give yourself a gold star !!!

Hi Mette!

You are doing so well with your refeed. Awesome losses! Congratulations!

Hope the sleep sorts itself out while working, perhaps some kind of wind down routine before bed or something may help. I know listening to a meditation cd helps me fall asleep and stay asleep as well. Find something that works for you! Can't have you being deprived of your beauty sleep for the next 6 weeks!

Great that you are so in tune with your body that you can notice the effects of the newly introduced foods! That is what refeed is all about!! You are doing so well!

Keep up the great work! I'm following your refeed avidly!
Hopefully I'll be ordering mine real soon!

Vee

Hi Mette welcome to re-feed. You will breeze through this journey and out into maintenance with a real spring in your step. As AJ said you will have no problems also with the mountains of food you will be getting into on re-feed and you will most probably lose more. Good luck . . . you dont need it . . . you will make it easy.

Mette, I made my own bread and had no problems with it, ate the three pieces a day I was allowed for most of the diet. Most seem to have trouble with bloating when they eat bread on refeed. I'm wondering if homemade bread, without the processing that bought bread has, makes the difference. However, in maintenance I still prefer CBs to bread most of the time. Congratulations on handling the birthday celebration so well.

Hey Mette
Sounds like all is well in refeed land and more importantly I think it's great that you are tuning into your body as you introduce the new plan - I couldn't count the times that I kept on eating and ignoring my body telling me it was full/uncomfortable etc
Last night the family had marinated BBQ chops for dinner (I had chilli prawns) and the kids asked me would I want to eat their chops after I finished. I looked at them and I honestly thought 'No' - there was no appeal hapening. They then rattled of a list of food and nothing made me start to salivate () If anything I think about 'clean' food, light, simple, fresh and unmuddled - not sure that makes sense!!
Anyway Mettee I'm really looking forward to following your re-feed - I think it wil be a good reference point down the track. Somehing to consider for your sleep for the short term- try Valarium - its a natural product that assists you to relax and sleep - not like a sleeping tablet and no 'hang-over side effects in the morning. I have dreadful insomnia and I have had this approved by the clinic to use.

Hey Babe

Isn't it amazing how the food we used to dream about is so unappealing now?? My boys sit and eat chocolate most nights (still xmas leftovers) and I am just soooo not interested. I used to be a real chocolate pig. Give me an apple or a mango thanks very much.

Sorry that you aren't sleeping though, maybe try some lavender (using my Louise voice).

I am hoping that I do bloat when I eat bread, excellent excuse to never eat it again. Sorry I can't, doesn't agree with me. Do you get rice and pasta back with refeed?? Maybe they will be more stomach friendly.

Take care honey

Jo
