Default KM64's Refeed Diary

DAY 1

Hey everyone, here I am in refeed land - what a mind blower!!! Just read through Yeti's refeed diary which has given me a little more confidence about refeed and adding more food (still pretty scared but here I am whatever happens).

I'm 2.4 above the goal cohens set for me but after my last month or two of battling not to deviate, constant hunger and coldness plus hair starting to fall out in last couple of weeks, I'd have to say I'm so ready to finish this program!! Just hoping I don't gain much weight like is possible according to the refeed stuff I've been given - really wanted a bigger buffer so I didn't get bakc into the 70s if I add weight at any stage in refeed, but just have to go with what my body is saying - and I really can't wait till refeed is over and I can start exercising and building muscle tone again (I can see muscles now and how big they are that I either never knew I had or had never seen since childhood).

While I'm not at goal I am certainly the smallest I can ever remember being since puberty and that is way cool! Fitting into a size 12 suit for work, enjoying airplane travel in massive seats (hmmm - I'm sure they didn't swap their seats over since I started cohens!! lol), loving the comments from people I haven't seen in a while.

So today I just got to add a bit of old protein and veg - have put it all in my lunch meal (veal strips stir fried with veg, tomato and a bit of mayo). Looking forward to the larger amount.

My refeed is 16 days (depending on what my wieght does of course).

Looking forward to the weekend (which is part of why I started refeed today) as tomorrow I get to add new fruit and Sun I get some bread. Should be interesting (have a little feeling my body and bread are not going to like each other much).

So here I am and looking forward to these next couple of weeks to see what happens.

Cheers - Kay.

Kay - Congratulation on making it to refeed land.

I am feeling lots of the things that you mentioned that were happening to you before you started refeed. I was wondering if I am coming in too early, but now I feel confident that is the right time. I plan to start in about 10 days so you will still be here if all goes to plan. I look forward to reading your diary and sharing all this with you.

Good luck
Rosemary

Welcome to refeed land, Kay!
You have made it!! Awesome achievement.
I bet that the weight drops off rather than goes up now that you are on refeed!
Enjoy all the extras!

Congratz Kay! I so envy you while I continue to struggle on to reach as close to my goal weight as possible.

It just gets increasingly frustrating when people keep telling me to stop losing weight and that I should be over and done with because I look just nice now. Oh how wrong they are... anyway, by the time I reach my refeedland, you'll be all done with.

Nonetheless, I'm so happy for you... I don't know what went wrong with me that the weight is really losing slowly... can't imagine how long I'll take to lose the 7kg to refeed weight...*sigh*

Congrats Kay

It is such a wonderful and frightening feeling to start refeed.
You were absolutely ready to go...all of those things happening to you were true signs that you were at or past your correct weight.

In a couple of weeks you will be on maintenance and ready to start your new life. Don't worry about the hair...it grows back...I also lost a lot of mine the first go around.

Again, Congrats on starting refeed. Looking forward to hearing about your journey.

Cindy

Default Day 2

Day 2

Thank you so much everyone for dropping by and celebrating the start of refeed with me (too many of you to name!!)

Day 2 is almost over - weight stable this morning or 200g lost (not sure, our scales are renowned for not settling and giving lots of different readings in a morning) - I was 69.2/69.4 - either way pretty much what I was yesterday.

Enjoyed my extra protein and veg each day and had rockmelon today after lunch - very tasty and nice to have something different. Even just with a little extra food its hard to fit in 3 bits of fruit and 5 crackers and the extra protein/veg. Anyway, get to eat a slice of bread tomorrow - should be interesting (bought rye bread in hope it will be tastier - never was much a fan of white bread).

Anyway, I'll try to drop in a little post each day on how I'm going - still scared the weight is just going to take off with every extra bit of food that passes my lips.

Cheers - Kay.

Hi honey - welcome to refeedland!!

It is a bit nerve wracking isn't it? I feel like a bit of a science experiment that could go wrong at any moment!! We just have to trust in it, it's not steered anyone wrong so far.

Default Day 3

Day 3

Thanks Yeti.

Anyone who thinks they've read this post already - you did if you read my old program diary - just realised I posted it in the wrong diary!! What a chook.

Well - big shift down in weight this morning - hard to think its not just fluid (have a pretty bad head cold at present). I went from 69.2/4 yesterday to 68.6 (Koh may well be right but will see what happens over next few days).

Today - a piece of bread - yum - I got some nice rye bread and had a piece of toast with an egg for breakie - no horrible feelings after, just yummy and kept me going pretty well for a few hours. More rockmelon - also yum!!

So, a pretty good weekend - easier than being on main program because each day I've had a little something extra to look forward to. Might try mozzarella and tomato melted on rye toast tomorrow for lunch. Should be yum.

Still working in my head on what my eating will look like post cohens - but have a long way and a lot more food to start eating on refeed - so interesting to see how much my body can metabolise. Bought new Jamie magazine today - all I cna say is yum - I remember now (and hard to think 6 months later) just how much I love cooking new things and Jamie Oliver recipes do it for me in particular - just thinking about nice meat and veg dishes to cook that will still be cohens friendly - again, can't wait to see the maintenance guidelines!!

Cheers - Kay.

Hi Kay,

Good to hear you've had a great drop on the scales! It's really exciting going through cookbooks and finding delicious recipes that are Cohen friendly - I've been doing it for a while! Bill Granger's recipes are good too, for the most part. His earlier cookbooks are better than his last two - very fresh and healthy and not too fatty or carb laden.

Good on you honey - you're doing it!!

Thanks Yeti - the one cookbook I'll be steering clear of is advertised in Jamie's latest magazine - the whole cookbook (by I can't remember who, not Jamie) is about recipes with fat in them - trying to put fat back in the good books - can you believe?? I think I'll skip that one and focus on lean, healthy meals.

You must be almost done now are you? Will go check in your diary - saw there was a bit of a flurry in there last night, hope you are ok.

Cheers - Kay.

Hi Kay,

OOOHHH bread. It sounds even better toasted with cheese and tomato. I am turning green with jealousy!! It sounds like you have this refeed thing well and truly under control. Great going.

Big hugs.

Default Day 4

Day 4

Start weight - 69.4
Today - 68.6 (same as yesterday)

Day 4 - am in the middle, am a bit peckish but have all my extra food waiting for dinner tonight. Had pineapple today - talk about yum - was going to give it a miss (and have rockie instead) as pineapple used to be too acidic for me, but all I can say is I'm glad I gave it a try, it was delicious and no ill effects yet (ate it a few hours ago so should be good if nothing by now). Lunch was rye toast under grill with tomato, mushie and mozarella, with side dish of cauliflower, melted mozza and paprika. Am trying to do some different dishes just to keep it interesting while I finish up.

Only 12 days to go after today (hopefully - depends on weight I guess). Eyed off a lot of cakes today when out with my little one doing the shopping and grabbing a nice coffee - hard to resist but at the same time easy knowing I'm now on refeed and the end is so definitely in sight. Just have to bide my time, finish what I started and then also think each time I see them when on maintenance whether its worth it and what I'll trade off I guess if I want to occassionally have something like that.

Other than that, all going pretty well - huge increase in food tonight for dinner, so hoping eating it as my last meal won't impact on weight too much, but have to try different options to see what the ol' bod will tolerate - so far I've added all my extra food at lunchtime (no wonder I'm still peckish now only an hour or so after I ate lunch). Have to say I'm not finding bread to be having a bad impact on me yet - but will see what happens when it increases to 2 or 3 slices a day (and have been missing my crackers a bit, so hope on maintenance I'll try for a balance of a bit of each).

Cheers for today - Kay.

Thanks Rach - I have to say refeed is fun and definitely worth making it to. Sorry if my comments on food I'm having make your mouth water a bit (remember what it was like when Snugglebear started talking about biscuits - had me almost faint with desire reading it in her refeed diary). You are making great progress and will be there soon enough yourself.

Cheers - Kay.

Hi Kay
I feel so slack that I missed this massive milestone of yours - going into refeed land. Almost back to a normal life - well your new healthier version of normal life.

Congratulations on your amazing achievement. You have proven to be the strong, focussed, determined woman you always knew you could be - you just had to value your health enough to put the work focus into it.

I am truly inspired by what you have achieved! I so look forward to the time ahead when I can be in refeed land and re-discovering food in a whole new light!

Have loved reading your new diary, and look forward to seeing that weight continue to drop off as you head towards maintenance.

Take care and keep posting
Shazza
