Default What is the nicest yoghurt; I HATE yoghurt!

But... I did a test run before I started Cohens on Monday and had a pauls natural yoghurt mixed with an orange..

I managed to eat half of it without gagging too much. Just wondering if
there is a nicer yoghurt I should be trying without the overpowering smell.

Also,.. I read somewhere, someone does frozen yoghurt with coffee or
something.., that's sounding better? Anyone know the details??

Thanks in advance,

Pirosh

HI Pirosh,

Welcome to the forum. Congrats on making a great choice in Cohens!

You don't have to eat anything you really don't like but be open to the fact that your tastes may change as you go through the programme. Many people have reported that this has been their experience. I presume you have the yoghurt as meal one option but that there are also others. I didn't eat much yoghurt on programme as I found it left me feeling hungry about 2 hours later - seemed a long time to lunch so I ate an egg almost every morning.

For yoghurt just be very careful what you buy as many contain inulin which some people find slows down their weight loss - for others seems not to have such an effect.

I have found the safest, most easily available is Gippsland Fat Free. (Available at most coles and woolies)I like the taste and so does my partner. Just be careful to get the fat free as both look alike - white container, green lid. You also can't have the fruit varieties. If you search in the forum oyu will find a couple of thread about yoghurt but READ the whole thread as Yoghurt has been one of those things that has been a bit contantious. Tamer Valley was very popular previously until we found out it has inulin in it.

By the way I wouldn't recommend you mix yoghurt and orange - two tart flavours together. You may find apple, cooked apple, mango, kiwifruit, peach, or nectarine are more to your liking.

You will find many of your questions already answered in this forum so do a bit of reading particularly in the Cohen's discussion forum and you will be amazed at the journeys of others who have gone before, I am sure.

Enjoy the journey.
Shanara

Pirosh

I love the Jalna Fat Free Natural - creamy and not to sour... I also mix with coffee a sweetner and about 150mls of sprite zero to make a delicious cohens iced coffee for brekkie. My friend makes hers with just a splash of sprite and then freezers for an hour or so to make it more like ice cream... Give them all a go.

Stewed apple and cinnamon in the yogurt is also nice.

Horrible on its own!!!

Great suggestions Sammie. I really don't like yoghurt all that much, but i love coffee and could see this potentially being something that i would like. Another thing I found I like tonight. yay!

+1 for Yoplus.

I really hate sour yoghurts, but 2 sweetener tablets dissolved in a smidge of water does the trick.

Try stewed apple and cinnamon! Yummo! I'd eat it even if I wasn't on cohens!

I've been doing the coffee recipe and I must admit the first morning I almost gagged. I'm onto day 4 and it's nowhere near as bad now.

In NZ my clinic have told me to use cyclops yoghurt. I can't stomach it by itself but chuck it in the blender
175gm yoghurt
175ml sprite zero
1 (or more) tsp good instant coffee (I use mocanna)

It's yummy and as you say address's the coffee need. I can't drink black coffee so have switched to tea, but this gives me my coffee fix first thing in the morning.

I did it the same the other day with nectarine instead of coffee and that was good too.. until I realised that was one of my fruit allowances gone and I'd rather have that as snacks. My programme only has two fruits a day.

Well done on your decision to join Cohens

Katriana does it the same way as me.. just yoghurt.. sprite.. coffee.. but i add ice and blend up so its a thicker consistancy.. but yes you will have to to try them all.. I use Jalna.. once again if you try it make sure you pick up the right one the green lids can trick you.

Don't ever use Paul's Natural Yoghurt!!! It is revolting!!!

I like Dairy Farmers, Emmi, Farmers' union (a bit curd lump like) and Yoplait (creamy). I am not sure if yoplait is still allowed now.

I love yogurt, so I'm the wrong person to ask, but Farmers' Union European Style is my current favourite.

I'm also a natural born yoghurt hater, but I've discovered YoPlus is actually edible. ...are we allowed Greek yoghurt? I have some low fat Greek yoghurt in the fridge that I'm planning on giving a whirl, just so I don't get tired of my already beloved YoPlus. <g>

I am Tamar Valley as well. I also hate yoghurt and have tried quite a few but Tamar is the very yummiest!! Can eat it plain with no added stewed apple or sweetner.

Louise, I totally second that!
I bought a vanilla yoghurt when I was in the UK last year as it was the plainest thing I could find, and I always thought that vanilla didn't have much taste, but it was so sweet I could barely eat it!
I'm a Tamar valley girl all the way, but am a little freaked out by Shanara's comment about the inulin... must go and do some reading on that!
