Default Supplements

How important is it to take the supplements? (multi vits, Chelamin & EFA)
Does it have to be the brand they sell at the clinic or can it be from the Health food store or pharmacy?

I'm just trying to get a few things organised before getting my programme (hopefully by mid next week). I've got good scales for bathroom and kitchen. I already take a womens multi and when I compared the ingredients to the one sold at the clinic they are exactly the same. I've got water bottles and have started drinking water (man it's hard when you're not used to drinking it, but am up to a bit over 2lt a day)

What else can I get now in preparation for starting the programme?
sweeteners for tea? what kind?

Another question. How do you manage when away on holiday? It's a long time off but we are going to Aussie for 12 days in late January, and it's pretty unlikely I will have completed the programme by then (I think I'll have about 65kg to lose all up)

What are your best tips? Must haves and must dos?
I am going to succeed with this.

Hi Katriana,

Wanted to write in regard to sweeteners.

Usually I wouldn't touch them with a very long pole. However on the plan I was needing to imbibe things and decaf coffee with sweeteners got kind of hammered by me.

I really recommend that you go with Stevia sweeteners rather than the aspartame or sacharin ones. The blurb says they (Stevia, Pure Via etc - the Stevia based ones) are 'all natural' unlike the others. They are also endorsed by that attractive Scottish Nutritionist who appears on the Today Show, can't remember her name but she seems likeable, there fore I trust her.. :0

Now, neither of these things would be enough for me to recommend, but all aspartame, sacharin sweeteners wreak havoc on my digestive system (which is sensitive) and the Stevia based ones are totally fine.. so this alone would make me recommend them to you. Even for those that don't have a sensitive 'gut' like I do, I would presume they are healthier/better.

5 a day over several months can add up, so that's why I'm recommending.

As for evyerything else I think its good you are thinking ahead and getting prepared. Best of luck to you.

RF

Thanks for that. I've never heard of those brands. Are they supermarket brands? I'm in NZ so I'm not sure if we have different brands here. I'll have a look and see what's available.

Thanks for your reply There is so much to read here, and I'm working my way through it, but it's going to take forever

I hadn't heard of it either until a few weeks ago.

Just did a quick google and yes you can get it in NZ.

If not in your supermarket then check a health food store.

Hi

I take a multi and flaxseed oil. I was using a Supermarket Multi - Healtheries I think or Blackmores?? I was very tired for the first six weeks on Cohens and then discovered that the Multi I was taking was only half the strength of what I needed. I should have been taking two a day not just one. I did my Maths and worked out that the Clinic Multi (only one a day) was marginally cheaper than taking two of the supermarket Multi so I swapped over. What a difference! I wouldn't say I'm filled with boundless energy but I'm sure not struggling like I was before.

So after all that..... my advice is to check your amounts really carefully

Good luck and go for it 100%. Push through those first few days and you'll soon be in the zone.

Catherine

p.s Which part of NZ? I'm a CH-CH girl.

Cathbug, which were the vitamins you were talking that were no good?

Would be interested to know so that I know to steer clear of them.

I take the Blackmores Sustained Release ones, I do get them from the supermarket and have had no energy issues at all. I only take one a day. They are working fine for me but may not suit everyone, it was the cheaper option so that is what I started with and am happy to stick with at this stage. The only other supplement I take is the Flaxseed Oil capsules - again only one a day, and I got them from a health food shop.

I haven't started my diet yet as I bargained with my consultant that I will celebrate christmas and new year first. I have been given the go signal as my blood results are valid for six weeks.

anyway, here in Manila, we are given Centrum (2x/day) or Mosvit (1x/day) plus zinc, flaxseed and biotin. zinc is to help skin tightening, flaxeed is for the heart I think but biotin i forgot to ask.

I started the program using Centram but needed to take 2 of them so switched to Blackmores sustained release and they worked well for me, but as I am getting close to goal find that my energy is waning quite a bit so I have started taking 1 blackmores in the morning and then on of the Centram of an eveining.
I am also currently taking flaxseed oil, magnesium (for cramps), zinc and Chrominum as well to curb my hunger (sound like a drug addict with all I am taking), was only taking the multivitiam for most of the program just started all the other when I had lost 25kgs and started to struggle at times, also the skin getting a bit loose so wanted something to help.
