Question additional fruit and crackers - has anyone gotten this advice?

Hi everyone,

I submitted my 8th week weight to the consultants and they are just too happy that I have lost 23 lbs all together. And as mentioned in my introductions, I have been feeling pretty hungrier this past few weeks and told the consultants about that too. They suggested that I take in 1 extra fruit and 5 extra crackers for the next 10 days. Has anyone gotten the same advice?
I have mixed feelings about this, on one hand happy that I can eat more, but on the other hand, that it might slow down my weight loss. Anyways, have asked my consultant on how to go about it but haven't gotten their reply yet. That is how do I eat the extra food? Can I start the day now with say crackers or fruits or I should still start with the recommended food (protein + vegetable)? And how do I break the food allowance? 2 crackers at a time but in lesser time interval? Quite confused now, and would appreciate help on these.

Thanks!

Hi pm,
Yes I also got this advice because I was getting dizzy, back a few years ago.
I didn't follow it though.

Have you tried taking an extra multivitamin, or chromium?

I havent heard that before, though the guidelines suggest eating the crackers 2.5hours apart so maybe that could be the way to do it

I am now starting to take the 2nd multivitamin. Let's see how it will go... and if I still feel hungry then maybe just maybe i'll eat the additional fruit or crackers<3

My consultant told me NOT to do this only last week, but did recommend that I increase my multi-vitamin and start taking chromium. Her reason for telling me not to, was that she believed it would actually make me more hungry.

I would be really suspicious about the reasoning behind this- unless they can assure you that they have specifically consulted with dr c about you in particular then thereis no basis for ghe change and it is effectively building deviation into your program

5 extra crackers that is a whole days allowance for some! i think it is weird because not even on the first few days of refeed (30 day plan do you get extra fruit or cracker)¿hpw much more do you have to lose and congrats on your losses thus far!

I have to loose 10 - 12 more lbs. I was browsing through the other forums and saw that this is normally recommended as Shell has mentioned, when you feel dizziness and low blood pressure. During my 4th weeks blood test and upon consultation with GP, I was found to be low blood, but it is weird that I got these reply from the consultants when I mentioned I am feeling a lot hungrier this past few days.
I will post here the exact answer of the consultants.

[I][I]Thank you for your e-mail.

Congratulations on having lost another 8 pounds and a total so far of 23 pounds in the last 8 weeks! Well done and please keep up the good work

If you find that you feel hungry, please avoid the yogurt and the cheese options for now as these are the least filling meals. Please take a second multi-vitamin each day at lunchtime. Very important: please insure that your daily multi-vitamin intake does not exceed 5 mg of Vitamin B6 as per your New Customer Guide. We believe this will help.

If you find that you are too hungry and that you feel shaky please ADD to your daily program one fruit and 5 crackers for the next 10 days. Then, start removing these extras from your daily menu, one by one, until you are back on the program sent to you.

with only 4 kg to go it is even more surprising that you would be encouraged to deviate from the program with refeed so imminent.
this practice is Not normally recommended and in fact goes against the program principles

Thanks for the advice Mcpsych, I too had doubts about following the advice. So I have resulted to choosing to let go of cheeses and yogurts, drinking my soda and my 2nd multi vitamin.

I also need to add that a few months ago Dr Cohen said that extra crackers and fruit cannot be added in the lead up to refeed. Some clinics may not have realized this. Forum members who have been here for a while may have been permitted to do this but it is definitely not allowed anymore

Thanks Jlou. I too had doubts about the advice, given that I only have a couple of louds to go. So when do you really know that your body is ready for refeed?

Pretty mama there are a few threads around about when to start refeed - suggest using the search function (I am on iPhone so can't do it for you easily )

Can anyone help me please...
I'm on day 6 of refeed, My question is :
On day 8 I can start to mix proteins and don't have to wait 5 hrs between meals... so does that also mean I don't have to wait 2.5 hrs between crackers/bread ?
Thank you.
