KimmyK1's Diary
I found out about the Cohen Program through a news item on New Zealand TV. But unfortunately NZ does not have any Cohen Clinics, so I doing this program all via e-mail to Australia. I would really love some support through the Forum. Probably the hardest things for me so far is having to attend a family function at a buffet restaurant on my first week. I ended up taking my prescribed food leaving it in my car, getting my children some food and then sneaking out to my car to eat mine, then going back into the restaurant and pretending that I had eaten their food. All very cloak and daggar! But apart from that I have an extremely supportive husband who is always encouraging me. After the first couple of days of a constant headache I have been feeling really good. I do miss my Lamb and Lattes (not together however!)

Hi Kimmy
I am also new to the forum and have just started my program today. I have 50kg to lose so I am hoping it goes quick! Obviously I haven't had to deal with any situations yet but I have quite a few coming up but I am hoping I'll avoid any deviations. Planning is the key to success isn't it... I look forward to hearing your stories and seeing how you go. Cheers Nickers |

Congratualtions on your first week. It gets easier from now on as your body responds to the program. I liken Cohens to healing yourself from the inside out. As your kidneys and liver get rid of the toxins you begin to feel fantastic.
The forum is a fantastic way to keep on track and to know that there are so many other people that were in the same obesity boat. I drink my water hot in the winter and it helps to feel full and warm at the same time. Keep up the good work. Possum |

Hi Nickers
Thanks for your lovely thoughts. You are definately right when it comes to planning. To help myself, I mapped out a food plan for 7 days, with all the recipes that I will be using. It has made my life very easy. I have also put at the bottom of each day what my family will be having so I don't have to think too hard about what to give them. Keep strong over the next couple of days, the headaches can be a little tough but by day four you will feel a lot more energised (and not in pain!) Hope to speak to you soon. Regards Kim |

Hi Possum
Thank you for your wishes. I will give the warm water a try. These winter temperatures are doing my head in. Only 9 Degrees today! Cheers |

Hi Kimmyk1,
Gotta welcome a fellow Kiwi don't I ? But hey, you won't learn too much from me - I'm a "friend of the family" who hasn't walked where you are walking. But I DO like to support people who are "having a go" at making their lives better (check my sig). Can I say, though "Good on you!!" for starting - and I reckon you've chosen THE BEST way to go.... I look forward to cheering you on as you walk your path down to your ideal weight, Koh

Welcome, Kimmy. I make up what I call chicken nuggets (chicken, vegetables and crackers measured out and made into mouth size pieces and fried) and take them to functions and restaurants. I sit at the table, eat my nuggets off my lap, and enjoy the company. Absolutely no one notices what I'm doing. I usually take an apple, precut and held together with a rubber band, or sometimes I cut it at the table.

Second Week Update
Hi everyone,
Had my first measure at the gym. I have lost 10 cm in total which is fantastic. My friend who owns the gym tells me that most of it will probably be fluid that my body is learning that it doesn't have to retain anymore. So I am really happy with the changes as obviously my body doesn't need to hold onto water anymore! I had my Clinic e-mail me to say that my food diary for the first week is really good. Although they need me to increase my water from 2.4 ltrs to at least 3.2 ltrs per day which I have started doing - and again we are back to 8 degrees outside - so back to going to the toilet more frequently again I have also started taking Omega tablets after reading the blog on this site regarding the dangers of being on the Cohen Plan. Obviously can't hurt to take these as well as the Neway Vitamins. I couldn't source the Australian recommended EFA Recovery Plus but we have in NZ an Omega tablet that has the equivalent. So will see how that goes. I would like to thank everyone for your support so far it has been incredibly uplifting to be apart of this. |

hey kimmy,
don't worry about having to email the clinic all the time I have to as well as and I live in Australia, but I'm too far away too. about 3000 kms from the clinic actually. personally I find it much easier this why. I dont have to worry about putting time aside for the morning from travel and the appt with bring out my toddlers. Well best success to you. I live in the Gulf up the tip of Australia and today we are going fishing its a beautiful 28+ degrees and just lovely and warm. regards Sx |

HI, I agree with Shax I actually enjoy not having to go for a weigh in as its time consuming and Im so busy I always have difficulty fitting in personal appointments around my work schedule. It is documenting everything on here that keep me on track and I can do the 24/7 at my convenience. I have read research that shows that woman have better results when they have group support so I figure this is my group!

End of second week
Hi ya
Just wanted to say thanks for all your postings. I am very jealous of the girls in OZ with their high temperatures. All we are experiencing is rain and thunderstorms Well, I am nearly at day 14 of Cohens and I am really starting to see some results. My jeans are getting looser and my tummy has at last lost the bloated look. I have really struggled this week though for the last two or three days. I have been home all week with my two girls who are on school holidays. It has been hard watching them eat some of the foods I really miss. I have felt really tired and lethargic and have had to put myself to bed around 9 pm each night. I have also been quite grumpy as well. My husband thinks my body is trying to resist the changes that are happening so fast, which he could be quite right about. Today I have woken up feeling a lot more positive and energised, and it has helped jumping on the scales to weigh myself this morning. I have always been a person who has never gone on the scales as I was always far too ashamed and scared of what it might come back at. But now I seem to have got into this habit of weighing myself every two or three days, which I know is bad but I need to see the results to keep working at it. Hope you all are having a good weekend. Cheers |

Well, in Victoria we really need lots of rain, Kimmy. Mostly, we're just getting the cold, nowhere near enough rain, so I envy you that.
I hope you have a better week this week. AJ

Third Week down
Hi everyone,
Have had an okay week. My measurements haven't been as dramatic as previous, dropped 5 cm this week and my weight a kilo. I wonder whether having my monthly has contributed to this. Another thing I am wondering is I have a 7 day menu plan that I stick to religiously. No two meals are the same (apart from breakfasts where I alternate Yoghurt with different Omelette ones). Do you think that this might also slow me down, if I am repeating this menu on a weekly basis? I may have just hit a plateau. Hope you are all going well. |
