Default "Deviation Free Challenge"

OKAYyyyyyy all you deviators out there, yep you know who you are, if you want to finish the journey quickly join me on this thread..

THANK YOU Hexi for suggesting it...

I am almost in the sixties, almost half way, and have been for a few weeks.. I am not going to dwell on past mistakes, but tomorrow I will start my record breaking attempt again.. I was recently on a roll and went 10 days without deviating, felt great, had some great losses etc etc, then I deviated 2 days and believe it or not they were not bad deviations just one meal I didnt have my veges and the next day I didn't have a 5 hr gap between meals that sort of thing, but it did slowly lead to more serious ones.

SOooooo here I am, I will start tomorrow in case anyone wants to join me..

First of all I want to beat my 10 day record..
Secondly I want to get into the sixties
Thirdly I want to reach my halfway point.
Fourthly I want to be able to do up this blouse I recently bought..

It is a size 14 from Crossroads, normally I would not even look at a 14.

Soo if you are like me and want to be on a roll again please join me.... If not that is ok I will do it by myself anyway.

Hello there Jeannie! As for that blouse, i dont know that it needs doing up! Lookin pretty hot and sexy with your black bra just the way it is my love!

Back to your deviation darby challenge. I will join you starting tomorrow! I gave up show ponies just last Friday at 49.9kg and have somehow managed to gain 2.6kg since then (shock horror )! No truly its not a problem as i have had a LOT of celebrations this past week, daughters birthday, romantic night away, dinner with hubby for our 14th anniversary AND out again tonight! Made lots of healthy choices but i have been experimenting a bit with bread, brown rice, different foods AND a bit of dessert and chocolate with lovely wines! I am sure some of its just fluid retention etc but i certainly do not want to hit 53kg! (I am 52.5kg today). This is part of a lifetime of STAYING slim so i actually relish the discipline of THE PLAN 100% and it will only take a few days of "pulling my head in" to balance out again around the 50kg mark!

I am sure we will have others join us! One idea is we keep going until either :

- we get to desired weight so quit (as i will fairly quickly)

- each day declare 100% day before OR NOT - so if its 10 days straight for you, then 11, 12, 13, etc and then the person deviates on day 14, they are out of the game. This way the winner will be the person who clocks up the MOST deviation free days!

Great idea Jeannie, you legend already! And, joking apart, sure you want that gorgeous blouse to fit you properly! But it wont for long as you will be a size 12 soon my girl!

Hey Jeannie

I'm definitely joining this challenge
I think it's a great one, like you, my deviations are small, like yesterday I had 9 hours between breakfast and lunch.
Only because I left my lunch in someone's fridge and closed the (house) door before I remembered to get it.
And because I didn't want to have to stay up until 11pm (2 hours after dinner) I had dinner 4 hours after lunch.
Also I suppose not taking my vitamins EVERY SINGLE DAY is also a deviation.

100% DEVIATION FREE!!!!!!!!!

Cool, Thanks for joining Pandora and BT.. I was thinking of something along the lines of going 10 days D free to start with, and at the end of the 10 days get a dancing mango or something, then for every 10 days you get another and we add them up at some point in time to declare the winner.. that way no one is elimated they just have to start over if they deviate.. I really don't want to see someone made go out of the game, that would just be another reason to give up and really the winner is yourself when you reach goal.. I'm open to suggestions though..

Also Pandora when you get to goal you can still be in it if you like so you can stay on your target.. hmmm still thinking of ideas.. I just know I want to do this.

I think we need to set up some guide lines or dare I say "Rules" & while I dont want to make it too daunting lets say the obvious are deviations:

Not drinking at least 2 litres of water a day.
Eating anything that is not Cohen approved.
Not keeping your meals 5 hrs apart and crackers 2 & half.
Drinking more than your allowance in Diet Soda specifications
Not taking at least some vitamins etc each day
Unless eating out and having to eyeball we should be weighing our food..

Hows that?

Thanks Jacinta for worrying about me.. Honestly I did think of it and I am positive I will be ok.. DH is not into this sort of thing so he won't be buying me any and the rest of my family don't live here so I will be fine I am sure.. I will have to be careful at work though, there will be chocolate galore, however I will be doing nightshift on Sat night, so I should be fine and then afternoon shift on Monday and I am sure they will be all gone by then..

Looking forward to you joining us..

Hey Jeannie...I like this idea. I have been deviation free the whole time with the exception of accidental or not knowing. I would love to join in on this forum but my concern is that I am going to be out of town from March 27th - April 7th and I so worried about how I am going to manage this trip since I will be staying in a hotel for more than 1/2 the trip.

Well, I guess we should count me in and can be sure to get one dancing mango before I leave. This will help me to be stronger about weighing my food at restaurants I'm sure.

I agree in principle with your idea Jeannie of 10 days deviation free etc. But we have to be careful NOT to create a situation where you go 10 days then deviate! So, okay no one is OUT of the game but why not ...

1. after 10 days = one dancing mango
2. after 20 days = 2 dancing mangoes
3. after 30 days = 3 dancing mangoes

so IF and when someone does keep up the 100% deviation free idea, THEY will stand out from the rest but everyone else is still in the game!

And thanks to Jacin for pointing out Easter next week end and all those chokky eggs etc - with my idea of how it works Jacin, you can still be in the game from today until then so can credit 100% days, just have to start again at zero AFTER easter. I am lucky as Jeannie, easter is no big deal for me, chocolate - i can take it (rarely) prefer to LEAVE it! Its the wine that takes my fancy! And thats on the menu all year round but easy enough to give a miss at easter etc. What do others think? We now have

Jeannie
Pandora
Babytime
Jacinta
Drexyl
Cindy

Anyone else and any other how to ideas?

I know I am not in this challenge..but what about 'banking days' so the challenge starts from a date and then even when you do deviate you don't loose the days you have been deviation free, you just don't get the days you deviated on. WOuld be good to have a bar chart to show who is leading?

Definately a banking day, I will keep a tally! (thanks Hexi) Every 10 days from now, I do a rundown with the mangoes beside each name and people will know how many days they have been D free. I thought for a one off bonus if we get past Easter without deviating we will receive a groovy banana...

Remember ANYONE can join in at any time.. Just let me know and I will keep a note when you started and when you reach your mango.. if you deviate you wont lose any mangoes accumulated but you do have to go back to day one for that period of 10 days..

We might have to tweak it a bit here and there if some problems arise, but lets see how we go..

Cool everyone, and thanks for throwing your hat in the ring too Skinnymeinside...

These are the starters for the 15th March so far: weight is optional if you want to post or not.
[b]
Pandora 53 Wants to be 50kg this time next week
Babytime
Jacinta (Starting on the 27th March)
Cindy Aim for a dancing Mango before her trip
Jeannie 73.8
Thatgirlx. Aiming to get a dancing mango ASAP
Magenta 93.6 starting 19th March
Becca Aiming to be a 5 star dancing Mango
Vee Aiming to be a 5 star dancing Mango
Butterfly girl Aiming to be a 5 star dancing Mango (and not to think about chocolate)
Drexyl 99.6 Starting 17th March
Robbie Starting 17th March
KatieB
Skinny Moi
Frannie 70 kilos

I will update on the 25th but you can check in each day or PM me.. Thanks for your PMs and suggestions so far girls..

The winner will be yourself when you reach goal and I hope that Mangoes will have a special place in your heart from this day forward..

Pandora if someone is booted out of the game for deviating I am worried what this will do to their self esteem.. this idea is to encourage souls not to destroy them.. I think starting over again (especially if you were up to day 7) would be punishment enough.. what do you reckon?

Cheers everyone and let the Mangoe Dance begin........

I have asked the lovely Magenta for immunity this week from the BL because I dont want to undo the hard work the team has done with its marvellous streak of losses by posting a big gain..

I will be fine for next Sunday though.

Happy Mango Dancing everyone.....

I am so LOVING your enthusiasm for this thread Jeannie! Of course i love your ideas, mangoes and bananas you tutti fruity thing you! And as for NOT booting anyone out, yes i get your point re self esteem etc and you do the daily tally etc and award mangoes, bananas and you can also use dancing bananas, devils??? and maybe even a fairy dusting for special occasions!

On the starting weight front, well i am at an all time high of 53kg today but i KNOW a lot of that is fluid retention etc. Last nights exotic and very expensive dinner out (was fab!) consisted of salmon terrine for starters, ocean trout on a bed of amazing veg and topped off with some luscious sauce and prawns! Then a rich cheesecake to finish! Some dark WINE chocs with coffee. All swilled down with a bottle of top range Sparking Shiraz between hubby and me! One of those dinners you dont do too often due to cost but worth the rich extra calories!

So count me in - lets see how much drops off overnight on this day one of deviation free for me! So its 53kg (3kg GAIN in 8 days!!). I think it was Meagain that actually lost around 6kg in 12 days of the post xmas sprint so i aim for 3kg OFF by this time next week! Should be a cakewalk (or should i say cracker walk! ) strolling back to goal!

Hi Jeannie,

This is my first time looking at the forum, and I'm liking yours! A bit of background... I was only about 2kg from goal when Christmas hit last year. Obviously I didn't have the discipline to not deviate, so I absolutely went bananas - after 8 weeks on the diet, I was really craving what I call "real food". I guess one of the problems is that I'm a real foodie. So, now 4 months later, I've put on most of the weight that I'd previously lost and had to call the clinic in a desperate panic yesterday to see if I could extend my contract. Luckily for me, I could. So now, it's the second "go". The hard thing is that I know what I'm up for this time, so I think that it'll be harder. PLUS I know that we have Easter next week, then I'm paying the olds a visit in April (GREAT food) and then have to attend a friend's wedding in May. Not the most ideal situation to find myself in, but I'm hoping for the best. So any suggestions you (or anyone) can give would be really, really appreciated.

P.S. I know it's hard, but if you could stick to the diet with no deviation for 4 weeks at a time, you can really notice the difference. My clothes were literally falling off me and I could fit into pants that were previously 2 inches too small... which had become too big in just 4 weeks! Good luck everyone!

Great to have you here Thatgal.x, happy they didn't make you pay again too. I found the girls to be really paitent with me.. I am sure you will be back to goal in no time.. Well lets see if you can achieve a dancing mango and a groovy banana by Tuesday next week and if we take it a day at a time I am sure you will succeed.

I have heard it over and over, once you deviate it is really hard to get back on track, so I am hoping that this will help keep us all focused until we reach our goal and then be aware just how easy it is to regain.. (even after we have reached our goal).. Hopefully this will teach us some discipline as a bonus..

Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart...

Today we officially start (15/03/0 our collections of dancing mangoes..

Glad you had a super dinner out last night Pandora.. Was it your b/day, anniversary or DH b/day? I am sorry if you have posted about it, I just havent had time to catch up with posts..

6 kilos in 12 DAYS is an awesome record to break as well..... well done to Meagain for giving us the challenge to try and beat it..

I posted the rules for want of a better word on the previous page...

Sure Becca, so good to have you on board.. I will add you to the list now..

Eesh I found it hard today in the late afternoon.. probably because it was the weekend. After I had my dinner I decided to take up some trousers that I bought in the summer sales. I need to get a couple of weeks wear out of them at least, and it kept my hands busy..
