Carb Weights?
I am about to start refeed in the next few days (very exciting!) and was wondering if anyone knows off the top of their heads roughly how much weight the uncooked carb portions are. I know we have to weigh them cooked and rather than experiement endlessly, if any of you know e.g. how much xx grams cooked pasta/rice/potato etc is uncooked it would help! I am assuming of course that we are all given the same weight amounts for carbs in refeed. Please PM me if you don't think the weight amounts should be posted. Thanks!! |

Hi krabi,
Congratulations in starting re feed! I found that for potato, at least double the raw weight to get your cooked weight. (that was for oven fried chips) Pumpkin looses alot more moisture in cooking, so I at least trippled it. Pasta/rice not so sure, i just guessed, cooked some up, weighed it , with the rice I froze what I had left over & it comes out good. Hope that helps Shell

Thanks Shell, that is a good start. I was going to do the same with the pasta and rice, but i was hoping to avoid situations where i didn't cook enough!!

Hi
Some advice please....I started refeed today but i am just curious abt starting carbs. i am allocated 50g from day 12 onward. I asked my consultant and she says that they are UNCOOKED weights not cooked. I'd rather have no potato than have a 1/4 ...From this thread it would seem that it should be cooked weights. My program doesn't say cooked or uncooked. Is Cooked weight the way to go or should i just go with what she says? |

My programme specifically said cooked weight, Rose. The reason for introducing carbs is to see how your body reacts to them, and to do so in a controlled way. It's better to have a small quantity in refeed conditions than wait until maintenance and have a big helping, and find you react badly.

Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time. My health is not good and my doctor is predicting all sorts of nasty things if I don't lose weight. What else do I do? I help people make money and I help people save money. Please take a look at http://www.acnlinks.clancie.com.au/ |

cooked weights on mine too... perhaps re-read the refeed booklet and triple check with another consultant at your clinic.

Lost in translation
Hi,
You have probably already finished your refeed but in case other people are wondering. The clinic I went to told me that they get the English version and translate it themselves. Recently they discovered that some things got lost in translation and consequently had to print a corrected version. I don't know which language is used in South Africa but maybe the cooked bit was misintepreted. Jacqueline |
