Default How different is it now. Do I NEED a new program

Ok. I will probably be shouted down here but I must ask.
Do I really NEED to pay another $800 to get a new program?how different is it from 4 years ago?
I did cohens 2007 jan to around April. Lost 23kgs, felt great, fell off the wagon big time, put it all back on in 8 months. I tried on my own jan 2008, fell off after a day, a week etc etc.
Bought a new program 2009(another $800) and it was similar apart from 5g here and there.and I failed to lose a kg.
Please believe me I am not knocking the program. It works, I know it works, I have seen it and read about how well it works.
I personally have tried every diet known to man and for me this works. I ended up having gastric banding oct 2011, lost 15 kegs and stopped. Now am back up a bit and still with 25kgs to go. And here we are again, another New Years and another attempt at weightloss and getting fit.
Like many others I don't know how this works and my scientific, nutrition understanding mind can't seem to get past that it shouldn't work but it does.
So after all that my question is how important is a new program. ( I was rich but am now poor) and can I not just use my old program?
Explain to me please why it's worth another $800, or not.

Can't possibly explain why the second wouldn't work? When you retried your 2007 did you stop for lack of support, motivation or were you incredibly hungry etc? There are many people who've used there old program very successfully, and others who got a new one. I believe the process it to try your old program for a couple of weeks and see how you go, if you loose weight and can stick with it, it'll be fine, if you don't loose weight, and truly can't stick with it then you need a new program. For me, the money I spent was worth very cent! And if I had to, I'd do it again!

I'm using my old program from 2007 and being very sicessful. Mind you I was incredibly determined to succeed this time. Something just clicked in my brain and I NEEDED to lose weight .... like my body was pushing me! I had this overwhelming need to lose the weight.

Try it for a few weeks. Give yourself a deadline. If you haven't lost anything, if you're struggling to stay on track, if you're feeling excessively tired or weak or dizzy, or needing to deviate ... Then you may well have to find the finances for a new program.

Good luck making the decision.... But in the meantime, try the old one!

I started yesterday using my program from 2008 so will keep you posted. You obviosuly will not have the support of your clinic this time around so keepng a diary on the forum might be a good support tactic for you..

Bris was $750, I assume the same in Perth? It's similar, possibly a bit cheaper, than my first program which I got in NZ.

I'd assume that there the same price all over Aus, prob cheaper here than NZ due to the dollar value? I paid 750 too. I've also just reread your first post too TheLastTime, the "only 5g here and there" is important, which is why we weigh everything to the exact gram and why one mouthful/one lolly one whatever, is a deviation too.

Yeah 5g here and there has made a significant difference for my losses now compared to when I tried to use my old program which was only 12 months old. My losses almost doubled when I started the new program with the "5g here and there" difference.
Yes you're right about dollar value Ciors but I think even with that its slightly more expensive in nz

i agree with Ciors about the apparent 'small' changes in program quantities. If you say have 100g of chicken on your first program, but you get 110g on the second one, or 90g, then that's pretty much a 10% difference. We all know how much a 10% drop in our own body weight makes, and comparatively there's much the same difference here in my opinion. And that's per meal, not per day. How much more could it realistically differ, even though we're a bit older on our subsequent programs, we are pretty much the same height, shoe size etc, so it stands to reason that our amounts will also be pretty similar.

The important thing that changes the most between my programs is not just the quantities in small increments, but the combinations between the protein and veg allowances. And that's where the magic formula comes into play I think.........truly we are supposed to measure and weigh to the enth degree to get that magic to work!!!!

Funny about that CB, you got a new one cos of meds didn't you? I keep wondering how TF's plan was so different when she got her new one when she was on an original and doing bloods? But ours is not to question why I suppose...maybe I shouldn't be thinking such things lol

I think that TF had got herself out of balance with the stops and starts and so a new program only reflects the current state of her hormonal balance.

All subsequent bloods go towards writing you refeed to my knowledge and therefore doesn't re-assess the balance???? Am I right about that?? That's my theory anyway, no matter how flawed or un-scientific!!!

I was completely on the first plan by the time I got all my bloods for my second plan too. Don't know how it works but it does! lol. Yeah well when I had my first plan I was on a cocktail of medications... yuck... and Cohen's the first time around normalised all of my chamical imbalances so I was no longer needing ANY meds... so that's why I chose to get a second program, as I knew my internal chemical makeup HAD to be different to the first time around due to that. Similarly, Collie knew her makeup would differ because she had a child. And as I say, even with the 5g here and there... my weight losses changed, my food combinations changed, what protein I was allowed in what meal changed and I was also allowed Tofu this time... last time I requested it but Dr Cohen said no I wasn't allowed it.
I don't know how or why it works, all I know is IT WORKS and I am damn happy I paid the $750 as I know for sure I wouldn't have been able to sustain my original plan as it just wasn't moving the weight fast enough, I was hungry and irritable etc.

Yep, you're right about the subsequent bloods only being used for Refeed. That's why they're a different (non-fasting) Urea blood test. I think you're right about TF having herself out of balance pre her new plan.

ahhhhh, that really does make sense to me. I didn't realise that the bloods were really only for refeed! got it!

CB, I just think it was so wonderful that Cohen's normalised you to not needing all those meds

For me, the weight loss is an absolute bonus. Being free of meds is priceless. I just feel so much more freedom and happiness thanks to Dr Cohen... For the medications AND the weight. I swear by his program!

Hi Ciors,

They're not !! i.e. they are not only for Refeed. They also tell Dr Cohen that your body is functioning OK during the Plan. He wouldn't want you to get crook now would he?

I believe the non-fasting tests are checking organ functions - liver, kidneys, etc. Medical people would know more re this.....

Thank you Koh...as much as we try not to 'question' the program, the mind does, and I guess, being intelligent people, the mind wonders how everything fits together.
