Default Pls help.. Anyone who has gone to Cohens and bought a new program..

Hi there everyone

I did cohens in November 2008 and successfully lost
Almost 20kg! I had never ever felt so amazing in my life!
Now 5 years on I am kinda back where I started 5 years ago
I have tried and tried to go back onto my old program
But I have just found it way to hard and I have kinda lost the motivation
And will power
Now I am at breaking point I don't feel happy and it's affecting
my husband and kids at home and it breaks my heart because they shouldn't
have to see me the way I am or have to put up with me feeling down, depressed and not
Wanting to do anything or enjoy life.

I have decided that I am willing to go and pay for a new program
But I have a question for all on the forum who have gone back to
Cohens and paid for another program.
Did the program change for you and do you feel it worked
The same as when you initially did the program?
Would love to hear opinions...

And thank you in advance!

Hi There,

Yes and yes! I did the program in 2004 and lost 44kg. Over the next years 26 kilos crept back on. I went back and got a new program and to be honest I mainly wanted the support of a counsellor, the discipline of blood tests and also attended the information night which I found to be tremendously beneficial. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you the same

Also a few little things had changed since I did the program last time. The big one for me was that last time I could have baked ricotta but that is no longer on the list. It really to helps to have a counsellor to keep track of your progress and provide support when you need it. This forum has also been incredibly helpful.

All the best and don't give up! You've done it before therefore you can do it again

best,
m

I'm using my old program from 5years ago. I was planning on getting a new program if it wasn't going to work, but thats not necessary. Lost over 30kgs so far. If you feel the need to have blood tests for motivation, then that's something to consider. A far as staying up to date with the changes, read the forum, ask questions. I've learnt more about the finer details of the program from the forum than I ever knew first time round. As for motivation.... I know what this plan is about, what it takes, that it works and I just want it more this time.

Hello butterfly wings

Thanks for your reply.. Have you found you lost this time round the same as you did initially? I mean as quick as you did first time round?

Hello Marmaduke

Thanks for your reply.. So program wise and measurement wise did you find your plan changed a great deal? I can see how knowing you have to go for blood tests etc would make someone stick to the program more. The feeling of having to go face someone re my loss for the month honestly is what made me stick to the program initially cause I felt I would be embarrassed if I went back and hadn't lost anything.

well here is the thing, the new program weights were not terribly different! i didn't choose any meat or poultry this time so I have an egg meal option in M1 and M3 which is pretty handy when I sometimes have upside down days where I have egg for breakky and yoghurt for dinner

having seen a few friends' programs, the protein and vege portions are much the same and vary within +_5-15 grams. What has changed and is proving very confusing is the recommended range. The first round I started somewhere on the dark side of 100kg and the recommended range for me was 59-62kg. Next time I started at 86kg and the recommended range was 57-60kg. I can't figure out why but suspect maybe when I was bigger so was my shoe sizes?! Not sure it has been 8 or 9 years... Tried the website calculator and that told me another range again smack in the middle!

So, to answer your original question, I think your original program will work. The difference is the support. It might be worth having a chat to the clinic, and seeing a counsellor for around $20 a session. That way you can monitor your progress in a supported environment and should you decide to get another program it'll be easier to flow from the old to the new. The hardest part of this caper is learning about ourselves, how to change our habits, how to listen to our bodies rather than force our will and appetites. All that stuff is where I think the clinic and the forum can help with well. The plan, while important, I suspect will work still.

I have been losing more than last time, but I think it may be because my understanding I'd the program is better and I'm aware of the small changes in 5 years, ie, curry powder , yoghurt no no's, more vigilant with my water, sleep etc. if u read my diary u can see how my averages and weight loss has occurred. I started with the mindset of.. If it didn't work I'd get a new program. But it is. So I'm going to keep using it.

Hey NM...

I am the same as BFW... I am using my old plan but was prepared to get a new one if I needed to.

I started and then a week or 2 later I emailed my clinic and told them my results... The consultant asked me to keep her updated but that it sounded like my program was all good. And it was. My losses have been a little slower- but I have been exercising.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I am all for the forum though! Even when I originally did my program, I was hardly in contact with my clinic.

Thank you all for your replies, Tom I am going to a cohens clinic with a friend who's is getting a second program
So I am gonna ask some questions, I didn't know anything about weekly counselling that might be a great option for me just knowing that I need to go see someone who will know if I have stuck to my program or not by weighing me.. Sounds so childish I know lol its all psychological. Today I started the first day on my old program and I feel good. I will do it for the next 3/4 weeks and see my losses. Hopefully my losses will be good and I can continue on my old program then I can look forward to using the $750 for shopping!

Hello
Well today I went and picked up my new program and I am so happy that
I decided to get a new one because my food weights have changed
quite a bit. I'm now full of motivation knowing I have a new program
to follow! So protein portions are all weighed up and I'm ready to start! 😃
Day one Tom!
