Causes of adding weight after the program
What caused you to add weight after completing the program the first time? The reason I ask is I would like an insight as to what we need to be careful of once we complete the program. |

I haven't done Cohen's before, Rue, but I have done a lot of other diets and have always gained again afterward. It's taken me forty years to work out why. If I eat too much high carb food I get hooked again, and can't get off them -- until the next diet. It's the carbs that cause me to add weight. I can eat quite a lot of calories without my weight going up as long as they're not in carbs.
However, it's my understanding that our maintenance guidelines take that into account. If you follow the guidelines, I think that you shouldn't regain weight. AJ

Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time. My health is not good and my doctor is predicting all sorts of nasty things if I don't lose weight. What else do I do? I help people make money and I help people save money. Please take a look at http://www.acnlinks.clancie.com.au/ |

Re: Causes of adding weight after the program
I haven't completed Cohens to the point where I received my re-feed, but I stopped doing the programme in March as I went away for a fortnight. My hubby and I both indulged majorly, we ate whatever we felt like incl a family size block of choc in front of a movie in bed in our motel one night, plus numerous frappucino's and desserts. I gained 1.2kgs and within 2 days of getting home and not having the indulgences but still not back on plan I had last 2kgs.
The programme works differently for everyone with the 'aftermath' of weight gain. For me it has simply put my metabolism back on the radar and by eating sensibly I can maintain what I weigh. I don't lose unless I go back onto plan (which I am at the moment), but I don't really gain either. Yet another friend can have a couple of alcoholic drinks and a few weekend treats and gain 3-5kgs over the weekend. I think if you stick to good healthy food, no sugar or carbs, and maintain a clean and healthy diet, you should be okay. If you begin to gain, just button back a bit on a few portion sizes. That's just what I have discovered anyway. I also believe body shape comes into it - anyone I know who is a 'pear' seems to gain weight unbelievably quickly - whereas people with my shape (rectangle/brick) don't seem to so quickly. On the flipside, the pears lose faster than the bricks! |

Re: Causes of adding weight after the program
Apples can gain faster than anyone!
As an apple I can vouch for that!!! I do agree that sensible eating is the success to maintenance. I did not eat sensibly.
