Default Overseas holiday destinations

Where have you been?

Everytime I do something towards my holiday coming up I get all excited and I can't concentrate on work so I thought I'd make a thread to see where everyone else has been.

In high school I was an exchange student for a month and went to Germany, France and Switzerland. I was far too young to appreciate it, plus mummy and daddy paid for it.

This time I'm off to the west coast of America for 3 and a half weeks (which I'm paying for) and I can't bloody wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I grin like a wally every time I think about it.

What was your favourite destination?

Hi Ang,

I am spoiled rotten! I am married to a Yank so we go there for at least 5 weeks every two years ( next one all of september 2008 - I will be at goal ). and we go to Fiji for a week in March every year.... in 9 days this year LOL. I have also done New Zealand a couple of times.

Funny before I met hubby I was never going to the US ever, didn't want to. Now I love it!

My NYF Diary
Default Re: Overseas holiday destinations

At the moment I'm planning a trip to Greece, Turkey, Paris, London and New York in September/October, so I better be at goal by then! I can't wait, because I haven't been overseas since 2000, so I'm starting the countdown already. The London and New York part of the trip I have reserved for SHOPPING - YAY!

I have lived overseas (Japan, Canada, England) for 7 years and travelled pretty extensively in (in chronological order) New Zealand, Singapore, UK, most of Europe, Egypt, Japan, India, Nepal, China, Canada, US, Mexico and Guatamala. Favourites are Japan, Mexico, Spain and US cities like New York, Boston and Chicago.

I'm also a frequent flyer.... but mainly for business.
I have enjoyed most places I've been..... in rough chronological order... Japan, Guam, USA, Germany, UK/ nth ireland, Italy, NZ, Fiji, British Honduras (Roatan), Cayman Islands, Mexico, Belize, Sweden, Thailand, China, Malaysia, New Caledonia, Denmark, France, Switzerland.. cant remember anywhere else at the moment!

The most disappointing places for me were Thailand and Belize. In Thailand, I found the beaches disappointing (I was in the Gulf, not down at Phuket) and got so tired of people hassling me wanting to buy things. Belize was just flat and marshy and the Mayan ruins we went to weren't that spectacular. Denmark and Sweden for cold and windy... Copenhagen was nice, but the rest of Denmark was quite boring. I've only been to southern Sweden, which is also kind of boring..... but I have good friends who live there, so I always enjoy visiting them!!

My favourite places were probably the ones that surprised me the most. Roatan was absolutely beautiful - a real tropical paradise. NZ (North Island) was so different to Australia - really interesting geography. After 5 trips to Germany, my long trip at Christmas was a real revelation - its a beautiful country, particularly at Christmas time. I love Japan - I've been there 7 times now, and always enjoy it.

Locally, my favourite places are Darwin, Perth and Launceston.

And my favourite part is planning and booking the trip - I love working out where to go and how to get there. We've done a few cruises, and really enjoyed those. I love being able to see different places but not having to unpack!!

LOL Shell!!!! And isn't that sea rough as guts sometimes?? I went there & I so wanted to share my 'all you could eat' with the ocean.. who in there right minds would give an all you can eat buffet to everyone on board a board.. like dahhhhh!!!!

I've been to Fiji.. what an amazing experience that was.
Forget the wonderful tranquil islands & the wonderful resorts on the main road through the main island.. try going in to the hills on the back roads to see what the "real' Fiji is like.. I certainly found the experience one I will treasure for a life time.. It was sad, yet uplifting all at the same time..

hi all,

i hadn't been any further then NZ until August last year when I went on a 2 month contiki tour which took me to london, ireland, france, italy, greece, turkey, cluj, bucharest, bulgaria, romania, austria, germany, swiss alps, netherlands and back to london again. there was also stops in hong kong but the only thing i saw was the inside of the airport lol

in may my partner is taking me away to an unknown destination. he has planned everything and all i know is we fly from here to melb then on to singapore... from there I have no idea. It's going to be GREAT!

and if i had to pick one of the places to go pback to it would either be Mykono or Korfu (both greek islands)

nelle
xoxo
