Question Advice on dropping 12kgs?

Hi Everyone,

Well....unfortunately I have put on 12kgs since finishing Cohens. As you can see from my ticker, I put on 7kg and lost most of that when I went back on my old program, but now have put that back on + 5kg more. Ugh. Last year was full of stress, emotional eating again, and me not following any maintainence guidelines- so i'm to blame!

Anyway- I am now a vegetarian (who eats fish sometimes), so am wondering whether or not I can go back onto my old program to drop this weight again, whilst just following the fish, tofu, eggs, cheese, yoghurt for protein....?

I am going to call my clinic on Monday to find out more.

Also, because i'm 12kgs over what I finished cohens, will my old program even work? Is there an option where they can tweak your old program, instead of having to buy a whole new one?

Thanks to anyone who has taken the time to read this xx

Many people have used their old program very successfully...try your old program for about two weeks & see if you loose weight & can stick to it. I could be wrong....but I cant see any problem with you using the non meat alternatives currently on your plan...hopefully you have one for each meal. But still good to check with your clinic. As for tweaking your old plan instead of buying a new one...I wouldn't think so lol xxx

Thanks Ciors! Yep, I used my old program to drop 7kgs 6 months ago, and it worked, though I was starving towards the end......so got onto refeed quicker than I wanted to. So, do you say only to go on it for 2 weeks to see if the weight moves, or can I stay on it til i'm at goal weight? Last time I was only on it for 2 weeks and dropped nearly all of the 7kg I wanted to, but this time I have more to drop, so i'm thinking 1-2 months i'll need to be on it. Just so scared i'll be starving and get those depressed feelings again

Yep, I can't see there being a prob either with not having the chicken or red meat alternatives.....I mean they are heavier in your belly, but i'd still be picking one of the options from meal 1,2,3 per day.

Oh damn....lol on the tweaking thing. I rang the clinic last time I went back onto it, and they said I could go into them for consults if I wanted and pay $20 per session....i am so sure they said something about tweaking my program for $200! Maybe I dreamt it ROFL.

He SlimU, I too have put on some pesky kilos, seven if the buggers, since hitting maintenance 3 mths ago.

I was having trouble getting rid of them so have gone back on plan. A week in I have dropped a bit over 5kg but am finding it very difficult - hungry all the time. I thought it was just mind over matter until I read your post.

My plan is to keep going until I get to goal and redo refeed. I don't know if that's the right approach and have my consultant ringing me on Monday. I'm out of contract but this lady is very accommodating. You didn't dream it, I too was told that I could go in for a consult for $20.

Good luck. One thing we do know is that this works ...

Consults, yep...I know the Melb clinic does that, but $200 sounds about what you pay for an extension isn't it? Not sure how the clinic would tweak an old program without a fasting blood test etc? But I've done my program by distance, so I haven't had a lot of contact with them either.

The couple of weeks is to see if your old program will work now, some people found that they couldn't get into the zone, had cravings, were hungry all the time etc because their body chemistry had changed, and they find that they also don't loose weight. There's no way to know unless you try it. There are many people who used their old program very successfully.

Hey Jaycee, oh i'm glad I wasn't the only one really hungry using the old program. I had 7kg to lose when I did it again too....maybe our body chem had changed? Keep on going til you can't anymore! Best of luck!!!

Ciors, oh I understand. Yes, maybe it was an extension. Sorry, I can't recall what they actually said, but remember it being around $200-250 and they said they could change my program to suit me now. As I said though, maybe I even dreamt it!

I'm definitely going to ring them Monday, and start either way this week coming. I am determined to get lean again.

Hey SU,

i've not heard of them ever changing your program once you have it, but perhaps there's something we're not aware of that clinic's can do with regard to that.

The most difficulty I've heard of people using their old programs is to be able to be compliant, aside from the weight moving awfully slowly, it's the struggle with the hunger and cravings which seem impossible to ignore......but all the clinic advice is try it out for a couple of weeks, see if you can comply with it, and the weight actually moves appropriately (as in fast enough) and go from there.

Nice to see you back SU, hope to see you round some more and good luck with that old program of yours. I hope it works for you.

Hey Collie! Maybe I did dream it then hehe. Thank you for the luck. I'm sure the old program will work again, I'm just so scared of being starving, but no point being scared. I'd rather be scared than overweight!!!!!!! Thanks for your support. You're amazing!

Hi Slim

I'm also back to lose 12 kg's - dammit!!! I'm also using my old program from today and will see how it goes. I really don't enjoy this bloated, uncomfortable feeling and I hope that it has been imprinted as a reminder that I NEVER want to be here again.

Good luck with yours!

Hi SU

I agree with all of the above recommendations. Try the old program and you'll know if it works within a couple of weeks at most. I did my program as a vegetarian, without seafood, and it works. A little slower than when I first did the program as a carnivore in 2004/5 but this time I made a couple of mistakes which may have contributed to the slower loss particularly by having baked ricotta very often and not realising it was taken off the program since my first round due to it slowing the weight loss (high fat content and salt).

All the best, am certain you can do it!

M

Thanks M! I will get onto my old program as of tomorrow. Doing my food shop today for it Looking forward to it all, and hoping there'll be no issues as i'm at least 13kgs over now, and my thyroid has gone further out of synch- which is why i've put on weight quickly in the last 4 months Here's hoping it's all good though!

Good for you! I'm looking forward to reading your diary - will you start a new one, or continue from a previous one?

BTW - so glad I restarted - 1.8kg after 2 days and I feel MUCH better already.

Way to go N2M ... we really shouldn't be surprised how good we feel once back on plan foods, but we are. An all over healthy feeling ... a good enough reason to stay on track I reckon.

Yeah well you KNOW why the losses are so quick in the beginning - because my eating habits were grossly incorrect! You ladies who've been deviating a teeny bit didn't really go much off plan...

That's awesome N2M! I'm down 1.2kg in 2 days. Happy enough with that!! My eating was WAYYY off mark too. Very bad. I am only realising how much of a garbage can I became.....I'll be doing my journal in this thread, continuing on from the last short stint that I went back on my program. Have you got a journal?

way to go!! Always learning things aren't we. Why don't we just listen to what our bodies are telling us instead of our head? I felt like crap the whole time I was off Cohen's but took me a whole year to get the head thing back in sinc so that I was able to stick to it. 16 days straight!! yea You can do it too!! My old program was just not doing it so went the whole hog again and got a new one. Hope your old program works for you though. I think I just had too many false starts over the past 12 months before getting serious and most probably completely mucked up my whole system. Anyway, keep doing what you are doing and wait and see what happens. Its not the end of the world if you have to get another program (just a little expensive).

Hi ladies, I just came back on here to get some inspiration...I too have put on around 11 kg because I can't control my knife and fork disease! I have told myself for months I need to get back on track but just can't get my mojo back. However, after Xmas and holidays I am absolutely disgusted in myself - hopefully enough to keep me on track. I have started today with my old programme so it's good to hear that this has worked for a lot of people - I really can't afford to buy a new programme, but then I really can't afford to buy a new wardrobe either!!

Good luck and hopefully your success will motivate me xx
