Question Floating a slice of lemon?

Can you confirm for me that if I float a slice of lemon in some hot water to drink, that this is not considered a fruit allowance?

I think if I squeeze the juice out of the lemon into the water it is - but if I float it isn't........just thought I would check.

Thank you for your help!

Hi Noddy

The question you have to ask yourself is: why float the lemon? To get the taste of the lemon into it? Which means some juice is coming out.....

So I would consider that needs to come from your fruit allowance. Bear in mind no fruit teas are allowed on plan...

Off to make my peppermint tea

From what I have read, I believe you are right !! (Sorry jlou) I don't have a Plan, but I have read on here many times that "if you DON'T squeeze it, you don't count it".

Anyway, if your Plan says it's OK, then it's OK. And, if it doesn't, then I have to wonder why so many say (including Asy in my recollection) it's OK so long as you don't squeeze it.

My plan clearly states that you can cut a slice of lemon to put in tea but not to squeeze it... it says if you squeeze it you have to count it as fruit allowance.
I also steam fish with a slice of lemon on tip which I then take off gives it a slight lemon flavour

Thanks Embee - I did think that was the case, but it also seemed a little weird.
I am not drinking tea of coffee any longer, but thought about some hot water with a slice of lemon (very thin) on these chilly morning might be nice.
Good idea for fish as well - I am having a love affair with fish at the moment which is very new for me = I was never a fish fan!!!
Thank you for taking the time to post.
Congratulations on your weight loss - you are a legend!!!

Hi
I am with Embee, my plan was the same and I have used lemon to add the flavour without actually squeezing it, like with the fish. While you are trying the water because you are not having the tea or coffee, I am thinking this might be because you can not have milk, have you tried black tea with a lemon floater it is really nice.

what if I steam fish with a slice of ginger and lemon but don't eat it? is it the same as the lemon in the drinks, that I don't have to weigh it because I will not eat it?

Personally I think it is the same thing so I would be inclined to do it.

does anyone know what the line is on using peel? I added a sliver of peel to a soup the other day and didn't include it in my weight (I didn't eat the peel).
