Don't feel like eating
So we loved our dog up big time last night and took him back this morning so that he could have surgery. He's an old dog, but he is such an important part of our lives, and I don't want him to suffer. So, now I just don't feel like eating and last night I hardly got any sleep. This dog has played a huge part in managing my husband's depression too, and I worry about how hard my husband is taking this news. So I didn't get to eat breakfast until 9.30, which means lunch at 2.30 and dinner at 7.30 and no sleep until ten. I am so tired and strung out, and I have no interest in food, which is strange because normally I would be consoling myself with it. I so don't want to screw up my diet, but today it just all seems so hard. I guess that not gorging on chocolate has to be a plus, but honestly, I am really needing some encouragement right now. |

Hi ya FG, so sorry to hear about your dog. Pets are such an important part of our family eh? I hope you get through the day okay and try to eat because your body needs the energy. X

Re: Don't feel like eating
Oh Hun, that's awful
Our furry babies are family members so something like this would really hurt. Best to try & eat something, if only so you are in a strong place to look after him when he comes home Congrats on not attacking the choc. Big hugs Rochy |

Re: Don't feel like eating
Am so sorry to hear your news, hopefully it's best case scenario not worst. All you can do is do what feels right for you and your family. You've done well not to relapse into past responses to trying times so that says a lot about your commitment to the prescription. You can do this, no matter the outcome, stay strong and true to you. Re: Don't feel like eating
Sorry to hear about your doggie. I have 2 and know it would be extremely hard. Eat and keep up your strength. As our journey continues throughout our life there will always be tests like this and you seem to be on the right track. I am sure everything will be fine. Keep us posted...

Re: Don't feel like eating
My day has gotten worse with some bad news in our family, but I'm hanging in there. Reading all the positive posts has helped me stay strong and not waiver on my diet.
My doggie is home, and we don't get the pathology results til next week, but at least he is in no pain and surrounded by love. A house full of family tonight, and I'm feeding them meals that I can eat too. Good to have some structure or I'd be drinking, filling up on cheese and bickies, eating way too much and pigging out on tim tams and chocolate, all of which would make me feel much worse I'm sure. |

Re: Don't feel like eating
go and spend some time with your doggy! I totally understand what you are going through. Enjoy your time with doggy and family!! Don't think about the diet. Just eat your food (even though you probably don't want anything) and just chill. Good energies if you know what I mean xxx

Re: Don't feel like eating
Hi Farmgirl,
So sorry to read everything you are going through. Well done on not turning to food to help you cope - you are making the right decision. My hubby has suffered from depression too and our furry friends have been such an important part of his life. I can understand your concerns for your hubby if the news is bad but I am sure you will be there for him. Just wanted to let you know that it does not matter if you cannot leave your 2 hours between your meals and bed if you are exhausted. You are better off eating your meal than not. If you cannot stay up the whole time, it is ok when it happens every now and then. Take care of yourself Butterfly xx |

Re: Don't feel like eating
So sorry to hear about your baby. I had a similar experience in Feb when my old man was diagnosed with Cancer -we had to remove his spleen but unfortunately the cancer is aggressive. However we keep him as comfy as we can - we dont want to go the chemo route as it is not worth stressing him out and since the spleen is out he thinks he is 2 instead of 12 Keep us updated and hang in there. xxx

Chicken Soup For The Soul
Hey farmgirl
Hope you're feeling better today Eating regularly - particularly on this program - is of the utmost importance Which is why God invented chicken and mushroom soup There is a book called 'Chicken Soup for the Soul' and there are days when all we need - but what we need - is chicken soup! This is how I do it: Chicken cut up small / diced or sliced - whichever way you like it, but cut into soup sized bits Toss the chicken into a saucepan (give it a bit of a spray with cooking oil first) While the chicken is browning gently (give it a shake every so often) Cut up mushroom or zucchini or whatever you fancy / have on hand as a vegetable Toss that in the pot with the chicken, give it a stir, add some seasoning Pour in boiling water - enough to fill the bowl you will be eating the soup from Put on the lid, lower the heat, go and so something else for 10 minutes - clear the clutter from a corner of the table and put out a nice setting for yourself using a pretty place mat with a proper soup spoon and a Special Occasion glass for your water Pour soup into bowl, carry to table, SIT DOWN and enjoy the soup and your crispbread and take your mind off your troubles for 15 minutes After you have finished, sit quietly at the table for another 5 minutes and think nice, warm belly, happy thoughts about something, anything and let the peace and joy of Chicken Soup nourish your soul Repeat as often as necessary. Twice a day if need be until you are back on your feet. Beef or fish soup doesn't quite cut the mustard but Chicken Soup is definitely good for the Soul! Hope this helps Kristine |

Re: Don't feel like eating
I love you guys!!!
The sad news is that we found out today that our dog has a very aggressive form of cancer. We are not going to subject him to any treatment, just love, hugs, good food and when the time comes, a painless death. Had a cry and am okay now. It's been a rough few days. But that is life, and really, I have so much to be thankful for. |
