Default To refeed before Christmas or in the new year

Hiya

Well, I am on the forum because I am unable to sleep..this whole refeed countdown is doing my head in! My consultant has told me that she will be ordering my refeed next Monday. This is due to a few factors; being close and showing 'refeed signs' but also because she says that this is a crazy busy time for Dr. Cohen-he will be writing A LOT of refeeds before Christmas and he is taking leave.

So I asked my consultant if when my refeed arrives and I still am not at goal weight, can I stay Cohen friendly over Christmas then do my refeed in the New Year? She said that would make no difference. However, I have heard on the forum that refeed must be done within four weeks of recieving it. My consultant said she has never heard of that! She is a little ditzy and I am more inclined to believe the forum.

I believe I will probably be ready to start refeed right on Christmas but I want to do it properly and not be bullied into a deadline of Christmas so should I just let her order my refeed next Monday and start in the new year anyway? Love to hear your thoughts

Thumbs down Re: To refeed before Christmas or in the new year

I think the 4 weeks period rule applies to the phase 1 program and not the refeed program.

The same thing was told to me by my consultant. She is inclined to order the refeed before Christmas so that I can have it handy when I decided to start between Chrismas and New Year Period. She believe I should be able to start refeed around then and she does not want me to be suffering for hunger while waiting for Dr Cohen to return from his holiday.

I am not sure about that. If I order it early, that means I do not need to take my 30th week blood test - which falls mid Dec (one week before Christmas). I am not sure if missing this blood test will affect the refeed program or not?

In addition, if Dr Cohen is rushing out a lot of refeed programs before Christmas, is the quality of the refeed in this batch consistent? This is the skeptical and untrusting me talking...

Hi Lily,

Aww, honey, don't stress - it WILL all work out, so tell your mind to stick a sock in it

I've heard varying tales re "when you should start refeed". The earliest I recall was "Must start refeed within 6 weeks of receiving it". After that, I've heard "4 weeks", "2 weeks", and even "doesn't matter".

We've requested for Asy to pop in with a reply - for now, though, it is FAR better for you to have refeed handy than to be without it. So, for now, I'd go with your consultant and "get it under way".....

One point of clarification though please - you say "next Monday" - as I'm a Kiwi, that would tell me Monday 23rd Nov - but most Aussies would take that as Monday 16th Nov - which date are we talking about?

Also, I haven't re-checked this morning yet, but I think I recall that you seem to be showing signs of needing refeed..... So, it is quite likely that you'll be onto it WAY before Christmas anyway.

Stay as light and happy as you can Lily - tell that mental stress to "buzz off" and let your body slide into refeed happily (i.e. as unstressed as possible),

Hugs,

Koh

I haven't "done" Cohens - Asy knows me from way back - she invited me to "take a look" here - I did, loved it, and stayed...
And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!

Thanks Fortnight and Koh

Yes, you're right...stop stressing..get some perspective!

Koh, it is Monday 23rd that my consultant is ordering the refeed and then it will take a week to arrive so two more weeks until it's in my hot little hands. Thanks for asking Asy to pop in-that will be a huge help. In regard to getting my mind to stop and let me get some sleep, do you or anyone else think it would be okay to take some natural sleep aids?

Fortnight, don't worry about the quality of Dr's refeeds over the busy period. Have we ever been given a reason not to trust the good Dr. before? Have faith-he is my hero!

Thanks guys-feeling much better today!
