Default Chromium picolinate

Hi

If anyone can help? I went to get my supplements today, in the shop they only had Chromium Picolinate and not just plain chormium is this ok? I didn't know so picked it up anyways, but thought I should ask before I open the seal.

Cheers Sussi

Hi Sussi,

I don't KNOW (see my sig) but a quick search of "picolinate" tells me you've probably got the right stuff. If it were just chromium, you'd probably be eating the bumper of a 1950's car !!

That's the right stuff. Preferably Nature's Own brand.

Hi Asy and Kohinoor

You guys are legends!!! Gosh my husband takes longer to get back to me with a reply than you guys. I think I will ask you guys anything before I ask my husband, response time is much better.

Thanks once again
Sussi

P.S. Yep I got Nature's own.

hehe, good onya! Nature's own is a great brand.

Not sure you want to tell your hubby about that one, he might not like being usurped by a puppy and a rat...

asy.

Edited later:- For anyone reading later (and scratching their heads) - at the time of posting this, Asy's avatar was a picture of her pet rat !! Hence the comment.....

Yea, chromium picolinate is what you want. It's just the full name for the supplement. Chromium is great stuff. I took it for a while a few years ago, and am thinking about adding it to my list of supplements again soon. Oh, and for those of you who purchase supplements regularly, look into getting them online. I get all of mine online, and save so much compared to when I would get them at a health food store (seacostvitamins.com).

Sweet, mine has just arrived - I have just got it in case I get a few sugar cravings before I start refeed.

Can anyone recommend a dosage or best time to consume during the day?

When I first started it mcbell at the beginning of my program, my clinic went through with me when my most 'dangerous' periods were and it for sure has been that after school time......3.30 - 5pm.......a scary time for me and I feared I'd fall down and deviate then, so they recommended I take one at brekky, and then a second one at lunch, to see me through the afternoon patch.

So I think it seems to me that you need to have it for a few hours before your harder times.....that's my take on it anyway.

Hmm, will have to see if the cravings eventuate - I think my danger period would be either after work before dinner if I am not busy, or after dinner - although I am going to try yoghurt for dinner over the weekend - see if I like it or not.

Let me know how that goes.......I'm quite liking it. I'm going to bed on an empty stomach not weighed down by red meat or chicken!!!! I reckon going to bed only 2 hours after meat is not long enough for me.......but I think it is yoghurt, and my clinic assures me that yoghurt is digested much more easily and quicker than other proteins.......so I think that'd be working for my little slow metabolism.......

Hope it works well for you Collie - I haven't really experienced your "weighed down feeling", but maybe it is just because I haven't paid any attention to how I feel in the evenings. I am hoping if I try the yoghurt it might help with continuing weight loss, even if I am waking up at stupid times and not managing to get a lovely 8 hours sleep or at least consistent unbroken sleep from woah to go.

The brand I got is "Go healthy" NZ, Go Chromium 3,340mcg. classed as a blood sugar balancer and is an essential trace element required for normal insulin function. They advise to take 1 tablet on an empty stomach between breakfast and lunch time. I'm finding it really helps.

I take nature's own chromium picolinate 400mcg. I take 2 at b/fast and 2 at dinner while I'm on this programme although I usually take two every morning and have been for about 10 years. The way the doc who suggested it to me was that chromium is the natural antidote to sugar. It's actually found in the sugar cane but gets eliminated during processing. And yes, it helps regulate insulin levels.
