Hi,
Dried meat is way too salty. You will hold on to so much fluid and it will slow your weight loss eating that. I love it as well but only becasue it goes so well with beer!! Both are now out of the question. Dont worry beef jerky and other dried meat goodies will be there when you have finished for smart consumption. Good luck |

Hi Rose
One of the things I did when I started this programme was to committ to "forgeting" everything I thought I knew about food and what I liked and didn't like. I decided I wouldn't ask why this or why that - just do Cohens as it is written. I have discovered a huge freedom in that. And is means I am not resentful about missing out on anything. One of the other things I noticed from reading the diaries of people in refeed is that although they may have spent months missing a particular food or drink when they could actually have it again they discovered it didn't taste the same. Sometimes they didn't even like it now. Don't know if those two things help you or not - they sure are helping me. Good luck on your journey - and sorry to say - there are no loopholes . Jokes on us lolol Lots of love Shanara

Hi Fair Rose, I agree with Connie K, Looking for loopholes so early on = sabotaging the plan and failing. I am by no means perfect, but please re-think your position on "looking for loopholes". We say these things not to berate you, but to support you and hopefully help you see inside yourself as to 'why' the possibility of a loophole even exists for you... Good luck on the program that Dr. Cohen has set for you. It will work just as it is.

Giving this another go as I know it works. It's been years since I fully completed the program, and with great success. But I'm not in a happy place now that menopause is on the menu. 2008 stats: Start weight= 89.9kg (8/8 ) Final weight > refeed = 54.1kg (24/12) |

If it's not specifically written in your plan you cannot have it. As far as the rest....
As has been said numerous time above, you are setting yourself up for failure right from the beginning. Don't look for ways around the program. Just do the program and you will be a winner instead of an also ran.

Hi Fair Rose
Well, I think it's a very valid question. If it's your portion of beef and you weigh it and dry it before eating it, why not? It's still the same amount of beef. Other beef would be seasoned and cooked .. it's not like beef isn't on your plan and the seasoning/salt used could come out of your allowance. It's not like Chicken curry or mango chicken are meat portions on your list, you make it from your allowed list of ingredients. Beef is beef, there is no "right" way to cook it. Some like it rare, some like it well done some like it cooked and some like it not ....... However, I would say you shouldn't have it because it does have way too much salt in the drying process, but if you could weigh and dry and season within your allowance (assuming you will make it at home) I don't see why that would be out of the Cohen's plan. Comments anyone? Am I wrong in this? I too, love biltong but am looking forward to having some at the end. It's worth waiting for and you'll be done before you know it so it won't be a long wait. Looking forward to following your journey. Louise |

Hi
I agree with you louise. If you go to the trouble of preparing this yourself so you know what is in it it should be OK. Its just the store bought is so prosessed you dont know whats in it. I too am looking forward to this salty delight in moderation at the end. I was stuck in an airport for 20 hours over the weekend with not much to choose from and the result of processed food was 6 liters of water consummed yesterday and I was still thirsty!! Good Luck. |
