You'll be wearing them in no time PD.

I am sitting here in a pair of jeans I haven't worn since DD1 was 8 months old. She is now 4 1/2. I can also get my size M denim skirt on that my other half got me when we were first together. When I say on I mean over my butt and done up but wayyyyyy to much hang over to even consider wearing it......YET!!!!!

Keep going, you are doing GREAT

I have plenty of smaller clothes in the wardrobe at home so I enjoy trying them on and checking which I can wear again. I am trying not to buy any extras until I get too small for the ones I have. I am away from home at present and went to Target and played dress up in the change room! I was good and didnt buy anything, thought I would wait a bit longer, but I enjoyed that fact that I could do up the size 12 jeans-even if they were sking tight - but told myself it wont be long and Ill be giving the 10s a try!!! Cant wait!!!
Have fun with your new clothes everyone!!!!

I am not in Australia but I understand that the Op shops are very popular with the folks here due to the fact the they are cheap and only get worn a couple of times before they are too big! so they can be recycled again and again.

Give 'em a try. Wish we had them up here in Singapore.

Default Size 14/16 to a size 10!!! :)

I have finally broken the 10kgs mark, and desperately needed new clothes cause i feel like i'm wearing all baggy stuff and feeling unattractive even though i know i've lost the weight!!!
anyway - i went to the shop thinking i'd be pleased to be in a 12 (my last jeans are a 16 and fall off me now) and the lady insisted i try a 10 and guess what!!! THEY FIT!!! i feel like a million bucks so shouted myself a new top to match them and with my nice black boots guess who'll be sporting a new look for casual day tomorrow!!!
The thing that frustrates me is the difference in sizes between shops!! even sometimes if you buy a 10 and a 12 from different shops and hold them up together there is no difference in them!!
anyway - i'm very excited... but will be waiting til i get to my goal weight (approx 5-6kgs to go - 60kgs is a minimum for me and i'm currently 66) and then i'll be going on a huge shopping spree! in the meantime these poor size 10 jeans are going to be getting ALOT of wear!
did i mention they are a size 10?!?!?

Congratualations on the size 10s - maybe you should put the label on the outside so everyone can enjoy your pleasure!

Smile I've got new clothes!!!

I have been wearing my big-n-baggies for quite some time now, until last weekend. During the week I wear my work uniform, so don't wear civies much during the week, I went to put my usual baggy jeans on and they fell right down around my lower hips and looked just plain silly (even with a belt). I went to Target and bought a pair of size 16 bootleg jeans that fitted me just right!! I was so happy to buy them from the young section at Target too as I have spent the last 10 or so years buying from the plus size section or plus size shops- What a wonderful feeling- a feeling of freedom!! I also bought a halterneck dress, and I have to tell you I really cannot remember when I last wore a dress- unheard of!!! I feel great and I love showing off my new figure to my friends and family.

I think buying new clothes take a lot of encouragement. Why do I say so? Many of us here have been buying clothes off the plus size sections and having been told many times that boutiques have no clothes that would fit us. Hence, we are rather skeptical to try on clothes of smaller sizes. Ok, maybe it is just me.

In any case, being big for a long time changes the way I view the world. I'm still big in many ways I see myself. I don't quite see myself as being smaller very much. So, I continue with the old clothes.

Suddenly with skirts falling off and threatening to fall off, I'm forced to try on smaller sizes now. Oh, the beautiful feeling of wearing something smaller and being able to find clothes (many choices) that fit in normal boutiques simply knock me off. I have a salesgirl telling me yesterday "wow, the clothes really fit nicer on you - the smaller size one". You can imagine how happy I felt so much so that I wanted to just proudly announce "YES! I've lost weight AND I'm on Cohen"!!!!

hi everone,

Today had a shopping experience.

Today in Myer's i was getting a fitting for a new bra (all others were too big and the puppies were wandering around my chest) and the lady suggested i buy a new pair of jeans as well.

I thought to myself maybe i should.
Off to target tomorrow to buy a new pair of size 14's. i can't remember the last time i wore size 14 perhaps about 10 years ago.

thank-you Mr Rudd i will be spending your $900 on new clothes.

I diddo buying yourself new clothes. In the past I always held off but feeling good along the journey and noticing yourself in new clothes is different to wearing your old clothes and just waiting for until you get to that golden moment and reach goal.

I have bought along the way and just worn the few pieces to death. Such a great reminder!

I also have played dress ups at clothes shops with no intention of buying atm just to have me work out sizes and see myself in shop mirrors...

All about letting the mind catch up also and accepting our outer new found bods!

Gotta love this programme!

Agree totally with Maria,

Really important I think to see ourselves changing and to come to terms with that as we go along. Without the mind making adjustments we set ourselves up for failure after reaching goal.

Buying a few nice pieces of well fitting clothes is really important for our self esteem and well worth the investment. Luckily as we get into smaller sizes seems to be easier and easier to find clothes on special. I have even brought just a couple of pieces that I can't fit into yet because they were a great buy. It's exciting to know that soon I will be wearing them.

The mind has a lot of power and can either assist us or sabotage us. Seeing ourselves as we truly are helps to let go the patterns and beliefs we have been carrying around in our bigger bodies.

As for trying on and no buying - great idea to bring in our new reality.

Blessings
Shanara

I have bought stacks of clothes from eBay. You pay a fraction of the price and you can find some fabulous NEW or slightly preloved clothes there.

Maybe a trip to the shops to play "dress ups" so you are certain of your size, would be a helpful thing to do. Most sellers on eBay give measurements that are very accurate and give you a good indication of size.

This way, you can afford to buy some clothes that fit properly on your "journey to the new you" and then either sell them on eBay or give them to Vinnies. Either way, you dont lose much ($$$) and you are feeding your self esteem along the way! There is nothing more satisfying and self-esteem building than seeing yourself in nicely fitting SMALLER clothes.

I think because I am a natural slob I like to wear my big clothes and have them falling off me, cos it reminds me that I am losing weight

But I do have a wedding to go to in September and want to start finding a dress now, but cos i have no idea what my weight will be, or my body shape will be I haven't allowed myself to buy anything YET. If I knuckle down I would hope to be either at, or close to goal by then.

I saw a great dress that had been marked down to $50, but they only had size 18 and 10, rats!! So now I spend my spare time window shopping online , soon I'll be confident enough to go into the shops and interact with humans.

Default Cheep clothes

For interim clothes go to a charity shop it OK to buy $5 jeans if they are only going to last a few weeks and whilst you are there you can donate the old fat ones.
The staff at my local charity shop are just so much fun and are very motivating when you tell them about Cohen's. There are real treasures in these shops. Its just recycling.
Cheers

Thought this thread was worth a bump. I had decided not to waste money on clothes but reading all of the experiences I am having second thoughts. Perhaps just a few (not excessive amounts) items are going to be called for as I lose more weight.

Hey Shellbelle, you would really know when you need to have new clothes. It hit me when I was going to work in the morning and I look terrible with the baggy clothes...nothing professional at all. So, had to add new items to the wardrobe. I am buying cheap clothes now to last me like 3-4 weeks perhaps before buying new items again. Nothing fanciful or expensive...just something pleasant to the eyes and versatile enough for work / leisure

I went OP shopping in Hervey Bay on the weekend with my friend. We only went to 2 shops & spent $27 between us, for me - 2 great long sleeved shirts for going out (never worn) and 2 for work in the nursery where all my clothes get ruined. My friend found a fabulous long-sleeved evening shirt & 2 short sleeved shirts for casual. We discovered a couple more OP shops on Sunday, so we are planning to visit those next trip to Hervey Bay. LOVE OP SHOPPING, Cheers

HI Skinnieminnie,

Me too. Went to an op shop last week and got three designer label - two jackets and one dress for less than thirty dollars.

Have found some great sale things at the shops. And had a wonderful shop in a friends designer outlet. By buying carefully everything should stil;l fit when I loose the last 20 kgs. My friend will take anything in that doesn't.

I am having fun.
