Default Have You Experienced Any Eating Problems AFTER Re Feed Whilst on Maintenance ?

This poll is for people who have all ready completed their re feed and is different to others.

I am inviting you to vote and then make a comment - no great confessions or personal revelations - just simply what your problem relates to.

If you have not completed re feed do not do the poll and I will delete any posts that someone puts in here if they have not completed re feed.

The reason for this poll is to source the type of problems one does have after completing the re feed component of the plan and then continues on maintenance after completing re feed
The forum can then help those that may need it in a separate way
The reason we do not want a full on confession at this point is to avoid it being misconstrued by persons who have "not walked the walk" so as to say.

This poll will be a sticky and go forever and you are welcome to come back at any time and comment on whet and where you are going if you need to or to get help maybe if needed.

THIS LINK MAY BE OF INTEREST TO THOSE ON MAINTENANCE.

Yep binge eating sweets is the main one...

Never been a binge eater prior to Cohens and NEVER been into sweets until now...

Weird I think

At this stage I'll say no. I do have low carb chocolate nearly everday but under maintenance rules.

When I don't follow maintenance rules or drink enough water I might put on some weight - I'm talking about 300-500gms.

I definately think too many carbs make me hungrier and more likely to eat the wrong type of food. This is the main problem for me but I have managed to keep this under control so far.

I know this seems ironic but if I stick to cohens food etc and don't eat a few of those "naughty" things I lose weight. Am happy where I am, don't want to be an anorexic bag of bones

Sugar addiction
Carbs with sugar addiction and overeating or not eating enough.
May not make sense, but all constitutes not eating well.

I did my first refeeding in 2005 and had a virulent case of skin psoriasis (red spots all over) immediately after. Doctor wasn't sure if it was diet related but we couldn't discover the cause.

Also, agree with all of the above, binge eating particularly fruit yoghurt of all things!

Yes I did refeed in 2007 , I now have a binging aspect to my eating. I was not a binge eater prior to my Cohen's experience.

I haven't been in maintenance that long (about 40 days I think) but I have had a couple of major binges (sugar and carbs) whilst on holidays. Prior to Cohen's, I was never a sweet tooth. I could now murder a few Scotch Fingers or dark chocolate with ease!

As I experienced eating problems before Cohen's I think it is reasonable to have them after Cohen's, it is more how we managed them.

Thinking over the past couple of weeks, especially the last two days, I could have easily:
opened another bottle of wine (had the last 1/4 glass when guests were over), in fact, could have enjoyed a glass or two (maybe three) each evening
had biscuits at lunch and afternoon tea times
brought something sweet at the supermarket to eat on the way home
brought takeaways for tea on Friday night
had potoato crisps before tea
had baked potato and sour cream for tea on Thursday night
and the list goes on

yes, I have had the odd binge, eaten more cheese/crackers than I should have, had chocolate sauce (70% dark chocolate) and a little ice cream but the majority of the time, I have internalized the consequences of my wants and normally the self control wins.

Tonight, I have come to the conclusion that it is picking that is my undoing. Both pre and post cohens. I was amazed that with all my carbs, sugars and fats that I had while on holiday, i gained very little and within two days it was gone. Tonight I realized that i am again licking the baking bowl, picking while i make tea, and picking after tea. I didn't do this when on holiday - I ate my meals and that was that - even if it did involve ice cream and chocolate sauce, it was just one go and not three.

On plan it was easy not to pick or taste test. So now that i have identified the problem, I need to act!! Again, this was a pre-cohen's problem not just an after refeed issue.

Interesting that you note "picking" is a problem for you WB, currently staying with my sister, and I notice often she is "grazing", as I would describe it. She doesn't have a weight problem, and she is busy prepping food for three ten year olds, but I notice her grazing, and see it as one long drawn out meal that I wish I could partake in too. This makes me reflect on my disastrous eating habits before cohens, and more aware that this is not a habit I should look to be getting back into, once in " management".

I too was someone who would snack on carbs(toast, chips) before dinner, and also after dinner. I want to take the priciples of the three main meals with two/three snacks a day into my way of eating post refeed.

Grazing..........it's always been the bane of my existence and my number 1 reason for gaining weight.........doesn't matter what I graze on, i mean it does but not as much as the process of grazing itself.

Yes, life used to be one long drawn out meal!!!!!

Set meals work just like WB says, even if it involves ice cream etc!!!!! I need to make note of that for maintenance. And part of the reason pregnancy didn't work for me at goal before has something to do with the early days of morning sickness and grazing helps keep it at bay........that habit is all too easy to stick to!!!

aaaah 'grazing'... i could graze on cheese and bread for HOURS. Hence the need to do Cohens.

I've learned the hard way that some eating habits are simply not compatible with my body's digestion processes nor my good sense to choose nutritious options
