Default Ellabelle's diary

Finally I took the plunge and faxed my forms to the Brisbane clinic this morning.

I've been procrastinating and umming and arrring for the last few weeks, but I've made the decision to go on Cohen's.

I'm really excited about the journey ahead and seeing how my body changes as it is denied chocolate.... sugar and it's other vices.

I've steadily put on weight since I finished school six years ago and i've never quite got to the point of being unhappy enough to do something about it... until now.

Tomorrow morning I'll have my blood test so hopefully in a week or two i'll be up and running.

Hope you all have a great day!

Until next time...

Welcome, Ellabelle. It sounds like you have the right mindset to succeed on this. Until you are convinced that it's something you have to do for yourself, dieting is hard.

Thank you Tara & Annabelle and congratulations on your weight loss thus far!! I’ll bet it feels fantastic!

I started Cohen’s yesterday and wow! I felt so gross by last night, think it must have been low blood sugar as I was feeling quite nauseous.

This morning I still felt pretty gross, but since having breakfast I’ve been feeling 99% better which is nice. (It’s amazing how much you appreciate feeling normal after feeling gross for a while lol)

My consultant called yesterday and mentioned that usually day 2 and 3 are the worst so we’ll see how we go.

Has anyone on here felt scared when they started Cohens? It’s weird, but knowing I have to complete Cohen’s now and knowing how many times I’ve tried to lose weight before... it just scares me that I will fail.

I feel a bit sad too... foods like vegemite on toast and chocolate were real comfort foods for me. I’m used to relying on bad food to make me feel better.

Having said all of that - It is very exciting to be turning over a new leaf!

Hi Ellabelle,
Welcome to the forum.
You will get used to not eating the "crap" foods, and believe it or not, you will not want to put them in your body by the time you have finished!
It is quite amazing really!

Hi Ellabelle, congrats on your decision to come to this lovely place. There are many many people here (in fact everyone) who want to see you succeed.

I look forward to seeing your progress ... but perhaps you need to get the actual program first right? Haha. It will come. I couldn't wait either...you'd think it was Christmas, and I was a kid.

I for one felt scared when I started, Ellabelle. I wasn't confident I would be able to stick with the diet. It wasn't too long before I knew that I could do it, and also that I would reach that improbable goal. You'll feel the same soon.

Hi Ellabelle,
Good luck with your journey.
I am in week 7 and I still feel a bit scared that I wont be able to finish successfully at times. I have had a number of issues already some stupidity of me and some unaviodable. I have not told a single person that I am on the program because I am scared of stuffing it up. They know I am loosing weight but they don't know how.
I haven't lost any weight in the last week and I have been scared that I wont be able to break the 90kg mark, I don't think I have been below that mark since before my daughter joined my life nearly 6 1/2 yrs ago possibly longer.
But all that said, nothing like jumping in the deep end and giving it a go at least its trying something to loose it.

Good luck over the coming months, you will be on refeed in no time with your amount of weight to loose.

Mette - Thank you very much for the welcome!

Shell - Thank you for your welcome too... I have a feeling I wont want to put junk food into my body by the end of this... having said that right now I could murder a family size block of cadbury hehe

TwoZeds - Thank you for your well wishes. I got my program last week and am now at day 3 and feeling sooo much better!

Annabelle Joy - It does help to know i'm not the only one who was scared before they started! And I'm glad to know it gets easier

Sjl - Congratulations on making it through your first 7 weeks! I'm absolutely sure you will break the 90 mark if you stick with it and you're right, we really can do anything we put our minds to!

Well - day three is here and I feel like i'm starting to get on top of things, no nausea today so far, whoo hoo! and I'm feeling good (aside from the 1 000 000 toilet breaks a day lol)

Went to a friends last night for a girls night and managed to successfully avoid the chocolate, chips, dips, cheese and crackers, potato bake and other delicious looking things - I felt really good about it too. Only had one longing look at the food table and then tried not to look at it for the rest of the night hehe - seemed to work ok

Struggling a little to get through my water allowance, but am getting better.

Not too much else to report on the home front for now

Thanks again to everyone for your encouragement and support!

Default Weigh In's

Just had a questions for some of those more experienced with Cohen's The program says it's best to weigh yourself monthly and only measure weekly.

Does anyone do that? I mean, only weigh in once a month?

I really want to try to hold out for a month, but i'm not sure how long I can wait lol. I keep telling myself "You are going to follow the program completely! - The program says to weigh once a month so that's what you are going to do"

Sounds like you're doing well, Ellabelle! The water will get easier. I struggled getting through 2 litres in a day in the beginning, but now I'm getting through 3 litres easy. And well done for resisting temptation last night! Stay strong and keep up the good work!

Hi Ellabelle,

Congrats for joining up. Im only in week 3 and have already lost so much weight I feel great like I can take over the world. It happens so fast you will be so excited.

In regards to weighing in I as well cant resist it. I told myself I would only weigh in monthly but every morning Im on the scales!! I have decided that no matter how many times I weigh myself at home I will only record it once I am on the clinics scales (mine are very tempremental anyway). I also measure up once a week. This is easier to resist as there is more work involved than standing on the scales. Its also very rewarding. Last week (I measured last night) I was 13.5cms down.

Just do whats right for you until you get into the swing of things. And dont get down if your weight stays the same for a couple of days. This will happen.

Good luck in sunny Queensland.

Cool

Hi Ellabelle!

Welcome -
I weigh in once a week - every Friday morning and I measure every Saturday morning. I think I'd lose the plot on the once a month thing coz I just have to know.. Although other people can notice that I'm losing weight, I can't actually see it in the mirror yet so without the scales, I think I'd lose motivation... I don't think it hurts.. its more important to stay away from potato bake... mmmm potato bake... sorry..lol

Mette - Thank you for the encouragement & go you with the 3L/day! Impressive

Ronky - Congratulations on a great first three weeks, you must be feeling fantastic!

Scottie - Hahahaha potato bake is hard to resist! Especially when it's all creamy and there are bits of bacon in it... and you see the cheese melting... melting all over the top - oh man, i've got to stop, i'm salivating just at the thought... haha

Has anyone had moments over the first few days when you kind of momentarily forget your on Cohens and think "I'll just duck down to the shops for some chocolate" or you accidently go to eat some of your husbands spag bol and then it hits you that you cant? I've had about 5 of these episodes already... it's funny really.

No deviations over my first three days and it's going to stay that way - I feel good...

Looking forward to my chilli prawns and salad in half an hour, yum!

I tell you what - I've never spent this much time in the kitchen though, I'm so used to frozen vegies and mashed potato with whatever we eat for dinner, or easy pasta dishes. The vege prep is taking it's toll, but it sure does feel good to be feeding your body nutritious food! (I never thought I would utter those words)

Hi Ellabelle

I started the same day as you!

Sounds like things are going well for you - I am really enjoying the food too! And I have found I go to do things without thinking, like I went to lick the spoon from my husbands curry, or just clean up any left over veg on the chopping board by putting it in mouth...Luckily I have stopped myself so far, but I can see it would be quite easy.

Have a great day

Hi Ellabelle,
To make it easier with food prep, I pre-pack everything once a week for most meals. I also tend to pack extra meals to cover an extra day or two so if i don't get time to do it on day 7 I have some extras to keep me going.

HI ellabelle

Welcome, Im pleased to hear that things have settle a little for you. You are doing really well to resist temptations. I find I somtimes want the taste of something not allowed but the though of the detriment to the scales has kept me on track- Im determined to successfully finish this program ASAP. You are doing well not to weigh for a month - Im afraid I cant hold out that long

Hi Ellabelle,

Well done so far Ellabelle. Sounds like your really getting into the swing of things.

The number of times in my first week I spat out food and washed my mouth out wasnt funny. I love cooking and everything I cook is from taste. I have learnt to cook without doing this now and the BF said that he thinks his meals are even better than before. I refuse to believe this as I am a good cook (and I love to admit it as does my now shrinking waist line!!!) and I cant try them!! I have been trying to write down what I cook for him and his reaction. Its jsut soemthing I do and peopel think Im insane but Im crazy about food and cooking. It will also be interesting to see how much healthier his meals become the further along I get on the plan.

I dont let him cook for me as I dont trust anyone in my kitchen. Control freak I know but thats the only part of my life I am controlling about.

Good luck.

Sounds like you're doing really well, Ellabelle! That's excellent! I haven't had those moments while awake, but I have had the oddest deviation dreams! Dreaming that I'm eating something and then realising I'm on Cohens... Such a relief to wake up!
