Default Panic sets in now that mangoes are out of season!!! What now?

I am in my third week, and loving having my salad with the mango chopped up on top - for both a dressing and a filling purpose. As mangoes were plentiful, I purchased several boxes and cut and froze..that supply is now diminished - what am I going to do now????
Gotta love a mango - probably the next best thing is a kiwifruit...
I dont know - I am just wondering how others enjoy their fruit with their meals - do you actually mix it in with the salad or save it for dessert, or have it between meals?
I would be interested to know any fruit and salad combos that have really hit the spot
Thanks
Donna

Hi Donna!
I have my fruits for dessert. I get confused with 2.5-hour spacing so I make it easier for myself by having them with meals. I love having baked cinnamon apples, sometimes with a bit of dill! Interesting flavor!

I LOVE mangos too..

But cutting an apple up into salad is pretty good with sliced beef or chicken.. adds a crunchy, sweet and juicy touch..

I too will miss the mangoes as I eat them pureed in yoghurt.
I also eat apples. One for morning tea every day and if i am not having yoghurt I have one after dinner stewed with cinnamon for desert.
Although I do like an apple stewed and mixed with yoghurt too.
Not too keen on the other fruits though

Definitely missing mangoes!!

I am super picky with my fruit, and it's mangoes or apples (but only royal gala, pink lady or golden delicious)... and I check them thoroughly before I buy. Fruit is so precious to me on the plan! As a sweet tooth and a half I need something sweet through-out the day... I have never used fruit with a meal- I'm too fruit stingy!

Im the same missy, so fussy and crackers and fruit are always for snacks. I actually dont like bf surprising me with other fruit that I dont want to eat as I only get so little, I want it to be the one of my choice!

oh if only mangoes were all year around here. Im so upset i didnt get a heap and freeze them. Might have to try this baked apple thing everyone keeps talking about. i dont really like apple pie or that so hope its better then that.
But did get some apricots this week. but the squash looks to be going out of season too. its one of my main veggies. hope to find some more in the shops and freeze them up too.

If only we could trade. Apricots is on my fruit list and it is not locally available. I am very curious as to how it tastes.

GLT, I could be wrong since I have no idea what an apricot looks like. Let me know if you find some.

hey,
shorti yes. i measured up my mango and froze it.have two lots in the freezer and they are staying there for a bit till i can stomach yoghurt again. they do defrost more watery though. So wish had a mango farm near by.
Apricots are similar to nectarine but are more lighter in colour and a bit smaller.kind of similar taste as them too. Im sure you would have dried apricots there, even though they arent allowed on the plan , but if you ever wanted to know what one tastes like.
