I find what works for me to avoid deviation is to avoid taking my sweetener allowance, sweet fruits and my crackers for a few days. I find the sugar monster dies when you don't feed it for a few days.

Hi all, I am new to this forum.
I started my Cohen diet on 28th June. Have been deviating till 10th July, i finally manage to follow 100%. But since 2 days ago, I started deviating again. As I weight myself everyday, I only see losing 3kg while others lose up to 10kg in the first month. I was hoping to lose a 8kg in my first month, but my weight loss sense very slow. Am i doing it correctly? I drink 3-4litres of water daily. Pls advise me... I need support

Hi Apple, welcome to the forum. To answer your 'am I doing this right?' question...no, but it's very early days so don't fret.

Firstly, I wouldn't drink more that 3 litres of water, there is that 'too much of a good thing' aspect. 3 litres is plenty...unless it's stinking hot where you are.

Secondly, the reason your not seeing great losses is because of the deviations. Your clinic would have explained the importance of not deviating. Your first month is more fluid loss, hence the bigger losses. If you can stay deviation free for a month, your body goes into fat burning mode.

If you deviate, you won't reach fat burning mode. My clinic told me one deviation cost me a whole week in losses, and then it would be a whole month before I would be back to really burning fat....and it's true!

Also, if you keep deviating, you're never going to allow your body to stabilise hormonally either. I think (and I'm stressing that this is my thoughts only) that you might even muck up your plan as it was based on your blood tests, and you're continuing to eat off plan, so your body continues to change chemically.

When you eat off plan, your body reacts by producing hormones that make you want to eat more. You've paid good money for your plan, you need to get into the right mindset and stick to it. It really does work, I lost 35kg in 5 months.

So, right mindset, stop deviating, drink less, lose weight. We've all done, or are doing the hard yards so we know that it can be challenging, but that it is achievable.

Thanks so much for your encouragement, i am glad to be in this forum, at least i understand I am not alone. May I enquire, do you still take the biscuits and fruits for snacks ? If I remove them, would my weight loss be faster?

This program is already fast ... once you become deviation free you will experience some amazing losses. Dr Cohen gives you your fruit & cracker allowance - use them, particularly as you are getting your feet with your program. Trust in the good Doctor and you will succeed! As you progress and you get past the hungries you can drop these off ... in 11 months I always ate my allowance as there was no way that I was going to let myself he distracted by hunger. Speak with your consultant to get the best advice.

Hi Applemango

I havent lost 8kg in a month, in fact it took me 2 months to loose 9kg, however the change in shape is amazing and i never would have got here if i didnt follow 100%.
I would suggest stop weighting as if you are concerned your not losing enough you are only focusing on this not occuring on the scales and potentialy then saying well i may as well eat x,y,z. Seriously just trust in the program and it will work for you. I also still eat my crakcer and fruit allowance i want to lose weight and not deprive myself of everythin.
Try again and look at what is affecting your commitment and change that. It will happen in your bodies own time.

You need to eat the fruit and crispbread for two weeks, and then you can choose...but, this part of the plan, the loose weight part, we get just enough to get to each meal. It's not about eat less loose weight (haven't we all done that and failed lol) I always ate all my allowance....

My consultant told me that it take 10 days for your body to start work 100% on Cohens. Therefore, THINK before you deviate, because 10 days is a very long way to see real results. That is 30 meals.

This thread has some really fantastic tips in it. I'm going to go with the 'buy a piece of clothing 2 sizes smaller than my current size and when it fits buy a new piece of clothing 2 sizes smaller'!

Hello everyone

I have been feeling a little down too.

Started the cohen program on sept 7. within 2 weeks i lost 5kg but i cheated sunday lunch and yesterday's dinner as it was my mom's birthday.

Even when i cheat i am not eating much because i eat in fear and i dun feel happy too.

my scales have not moved at all.

just feeling really disappointed with myself.. i really want to get the 90 out of my scale..anyone has any idea when will i start to continue losing again after a cheat...really feel crappy for not having the self discipline...

Sept 7 2015 96.6kg

Hi Kumari,

It can take a few days to start losing again after a deviation... but also we do have weeks where we will lose cms and not much in weight. Try not to weigh yourself for a couple of weeks and stick to the plan 100% then you should see results the next time you weigh. Dr Cohen says it is best to only weigh ourselves once every for weeks

Good luck and I am sure you will crack the 90 marks in no time!!

take it from a person who has been trying to be "on-plan" for the past 2 years. it can get frustrating trying to get back on the plan. And once you get fed up, you will find the determination to be on plan (hopefully ), that tipping point.

My tip will be on how you can use the negative to your advantage - frustration, anger, self disappointment, feeling of being stuck, wasted investment, wasted time-- anything that frustrates you about not being on plan- use it. Use it to fuel your progress.

Always think that you can always do something whatever the situation you are in now. Think ahead of how you will be stripping yourself all of that negative energy if you keep your eyes focused on the goal. That in itself is a reward. In Cohen World, that's like 10-14 days away from being in the Zone, because once you reach that mark, you would feel so good (hence "the Zone") that all that negativity disappears. If it creeps back in along the way, use it, remind yourself of the bad feeling that it brought you. Like a hand that's been burned by fire, just thinking of the pain of being burned, I don't think you would put your had out there in the fire now would you?

I hope this makes sense. Im just pulling from every source I can to be OP with my new plan.

Cheers!
