Default Revelations - from those "Doing Cohens"

Here's what thoughts are on offer. This first post describes what is on offer in each of the following posts....

Post #2 - Shell says "What's the hurry?" - with good reason.....

Post #3 - Trips says "Don't be fixated on the struggle" and explains why.

Post #4 - Trips helps to take the pressure off !! "While on Cohens, take the time to LIVE"

Post #5 - Hexi and Koh each take a look at the question "Why do mirrors still show the fat girl?"

Post #6 - MissNix explores the thought that "to BELIEVE" is what we most need to do - not just on Cohens, but in ourselves, in each other, in LIFE. Helluva post !!

Post #7 - Charmaine comes up trumps with a thread she titled "What must be done". In it, she explores some of those early, uneasy feelings, and adds lashings of hope and inspiration (a good "followup" to post #4 from Trips).

Post #8 - MissOptimistic initiated a thread titled "For those with a Longer Journey" - and, importantly, its subtitle appears to be "Don't under-estimate the worth of small losses". Another really good read....

Post #9 - Revamped Tramp takes a look at Plateau's after experiencing one herself - and her learnings are required reading.
If it is you having a Plateau right now, read this, and feel your smile grow wider !! Top post, RT

Post #10 - Lindy79 shares her "Aha" moment re carbs/sugars. If you didn't know this, you could be at risk - go read post #10 for the good oil.

Default No need to rush - from Shell

I really appreciated one particular comment from Shell (I'll quote it below) - but have a read from her entry in "Tips to help".

In fact, that whole thread is worth a read (I found it on Page 14 of the Discussion thread - maybe needs a bump ) Here's the whole lot:-

There are a lot of good tips in that thread too, from many others....

Default Revelations continued - courtesy of Trips

Trips has always "spoken well" - this is a post that sang to me when she posted it. Has to be a Classic - it deserves to be there so it can help others.

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=166295#post166295

I particularly loved this bit :-

I find that this plan then becomes alot easier, and I have more energy for other things in my life. To think, I'm even working 2 days a week now! That is liberating, and rewarding and shows me that life doesnt have to be all about food. Food is a necessity. It's not a reward.

But there is SO much more - so go on, click the link,

Default While on Cohens, take the time to LIVE !!

Yeah, it's Trips again - I couldn't look past this one - the truth for sure !!
In a nutshell, Trips has found that LIVING is what it's all about - and says it so well !!!

Here's a teaser:-

Initially it's all I could think about. I guess a lot of it had to do with the philosophy that I'd be happy when I was at goal... that I'd do this/or that when I was at goal. Gratefully goal doesn't represent this now.

Default Why do mirrors still show "the fat girl" ..... ??

Strange how mirrors seem "distorted" at some times on the Cohen journey.

Is it a "time" thing? i.e. the mind struggles to keep up with the changes? Suffice to say it seems to be a COMMON problem....

Here's Hexi, approaching things once more with a new Plan, and a whole new perspective:-
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=254853&highlight=mirror#post25485 3

Do note that (for Hexi) the second time through has been way different - principally because of the focus she has put on her way of thinking since she completed "Cohens part 1". Her reflection in the mirror looks a lot different to her now, because of her new mind focus !! A very important point methinks....

And then, here's my reply to Snugglebear (some time back) that addresses that "mirror" problem - might be something there for YOU too.....

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=208614#post208614

At the very least, KNOW that you are NOT alone in thinking that way,

Default You've all heard of "One in a 100 year flood" I'm sure...

THIS, I feel, is a "One in a 100 year post" !!!

In reading this post, I felt a whole range of emotions....
o Surprise - that a cruel weight-loss figure could lead to such positive revelations.
o Relief - that bad news was obviously NOT de-railing this young lass.
o Humility - that one so young could teach so many older than her (yep, me too).
o Happiness - for the gift that was given to others without hesitation.
o Gratitude - for the brilliance of the thoughts presented - classic without doubt !!

Without further ado - here's MissNix in all her glory :-
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=269426#post269426

Thank you, lovely lady - that post is a gift that can only be described as invaluable !!

Live long, and prosper, as a skinny minnie, MissNix - you SO deserve that.

A gold nugget from Charmaine today !! How good is this?

Especially good for some who might be feeling unsure about starting, or "fragile" when just started - but worth a read by EVERYONE !!

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10264

Read it slowly, thoughtfully, and appreciate the WORTH of those words.

Default For those with "a longer journey"....

To my shame, I ignored THIS thread for some days (the title just "didn't do it for me".... then, one day, I looked at it....)

What a great thread it is, so, a big "Thank you" to Miss Optimistic for introducing it :-

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11059

It puts a different perspective on the journey - and so well !!

Default A "plateau" epiphany - really good learning here !!

I couldn't overlook this one tonight (RevampedTramp sharing her thoughts as her "plateau ends") :-

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=332996#post332996

RevampedTramp gets right down to the nitty-gritty so well..... and many others are the beneficiaries.... Maybe you, right now !!!

I liked her "plateau wrap-up" especially :-
Quote:
.... at some point, the progression of movement will occur. It has to... and those words right there are the moral of this story...

The weight will keep dropping - it has very little choice. I guess when confronted with the stagnant weight, it allows all those little doubts to come flooding back in..
"perhaps I am the one in a million that this diet didnt completely work on.."
"perhaps my body is different to everyone elses because xyz..."

no..youre not special, self...the diet works - but you have to allow your body to do it at its own pace...
Do you see you in those words?

But hey, they were a TINY part of the whole post - and every bit of it is worth reading - go on, take a look !!

Top post, RVT
Koh

PS I refer to her as RC now, as I believe she is a RevampedChamp

Default Re: Revelations - from those "Doing Cohens"

Thanks to a new member who had found an old topic, this wee gem came to light today. Since it is from a "Cohens Graduate" (i.e. a Maintainer) it is well worth taking in the words and the truth that the words share. Check these out:-

After any day or weekend of eating badly, you really do need to nip it in the bud asap. If I don't eat well straight away the extra weight just doesn't come off. So I guess yes, you can have a treat every now and then but you have to compensate for it afterwards.
For those who wish to check the source (or get context, or simply read more around the subject) go here:-
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthr...751#post330751

Thanks to findingme (a new member) for finding that little gem and sharing it.

Also, since the subject matter seems to be around "Reset", DO also check this post (about NOT Resetting longer than 48 hours !! )
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthr...036#post410036

You may be very glad you checked it ! Shows there are little "banana skins" out there just waiting to trip you up in Maintenance.
