BM's and constipation... again
I havent taken it yet but wondered if it was Cohens friendly? Its 100% natural, 69% Psyllium husks, Inulin Prebiotics 30%, Probiotic cultures 1%. Thanks AilsaQ |

Re: BM's and constipation... again
Hi Ailsa, my understanding is we cant have products with inulin products in them but I stand to be corrected if I am wrong. Have you tried eating kiwifruit, they are excellent at helping BM's.

Re: BM's and constipation... again
Hi Ailsa - agree with Andrea, no inulin.
I use two products (as I'm always suffering). 1 is called Normacol and is a natural bark product with a laxative. The other is Coloxol with Senna (which I only take when I've been on my pain meds and need to attack the effects of codeine). Either one helps! |

Re: BM's and constipation... again
Inulin affects some people and it is recommended that it is avoided
hence the problems people have finding decent yoghurt

Bowel movements... something we all seem to have a lack of!!!
You'll get used to it Tomatoo. We talk about it ALL... refer to other thread on 'you know you're on Cohen's when...'. Hmmm, you'll work TOM out there too... *******!!!! |

Re: BM's and constipation... again
Re the note on kiwi fruit being good for BM's - some Cohenites eat it with the skin on - even more fibre. And a daily flaxseed oil helps, so does spinach, apples, mushrooms. Make every calorie count with fibre is my motto!

Re: BM's and constipation... again
TOTALLY gross to eat kiwifruit with the skin on - do you have any idea how many chemicals they spray them with - I would strongly recommend anyone eating the skins to wash them thoroughly first. Even then, I couldn't eat the skin - would be the same as eating a peach with the skin on - eeeeewwwww hate that furry feeling.

Re: BM's and constipation... again
I'm with you Winghama, I couldn't do it - but some people also eat orange skins - and paw paw skins and bitter paw paw seeds - I guess it's what you get used to.

Re: BM's and constipation... again
The uniqueness and diversity of us all is something to be proud of! Kenga loves her organge skins, as does Caro. Me - no bloody way, although most of the good essential oils are in the skin! Also, the pith is indigestible so would be a great fibre content.
Love our sharing! As long as it's positive and (albiet at times bizarre) it's all good! PS - Andrea, furry kiwi is a no-go for me either... well, guess it depens on how cute he is!!! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH |

Re: BM's and constipation... again
LOL WSM - furry kiwis indeed!
My son eats kiwifruit skins but won't be now! I like the green part thanks, not the hairy bits.... But peach skin is ok if it is wet. Just bring in the stone fruit in a few months I say - nectarines and natural yoghurt - yummo!!! |

Re: BM's and constipation... again
In our younger years my friend once took a cute kiwi home, only to get his shirt off and discover his back was all furry.
Didn't get chance to find out whether that would have helped the BM's as he was promptly dispatched out the door never to be seen again |

FF - bahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.... I needed a good laugh! Furry.... tee hee hee
Ailsa, you're in good company. I think we keep each other sane. My intro to the forum and BM's was through Cariannne's 'poonami's'! Classic thread to read if you can find it. If not, let me know. Although I'm pretty sure Mark will know!!! |

Mark, you're nothing if not reliable!!
Andrea, my dad told me the same thing! Also that chewing gum would stay in my system for 7 years and stretch all over my bowels... nice thought! |

Re: BM's and constipation... again
HA HA HA HA HA WSM and FF, you guys crack me up.
Ailsa I totally know where you're coming from, BMs can indeed be hard to come by around these parts. I have had a couple of minor tummy aches, but generally apples have a really high fibre content. And I eat spinach every day like Panda suggested, so perhaps that helps. Let us know what works for you. xxBB |
