Default Who needs MOTIVATION ?? ;)

After looking YET AGAIN for this post, I decided it should become part of this "Important Stuff" thread. It'll save me looking through pages of gems, just to be able to refer others to it.

It is from MissNix, quoting the Biggest Loser trainer, Michelle Bridges - and the words therein are EPIC !!

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=307837#post307837

I like Michelle's analogy - "like a bad boyfriend, motivation will ultimately always let you down. What happens when motivation just isn’t there for you? As it inevitably wont be at some stage? Are you going to throw it all away? Go back to the bad old ways?
Forget motivation!! The key is ............."

(You're going to have to work for the answer though - go click the link !! )

MissNix then follows on with VERY useful words of her own too.... Enjoy !!

And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!

Default Are mirrors lying to you.... ?

The "mirror problem" is very common. Many find they can't "see themselves as slimmer" in a mirror. But, there are other ways to get "the truth", and to help your mind come to grips with your new reality (the skinnier one that you are becoming, but your mind is playing games with you).

Check this out for a series of links -
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=299514#post299514

Then, try it out! Go looking for a shop window reflection, or have someone take a photo.... you may well be surprised, and end up with a big smile on your dial....

Default Your emotions.... an important part of the journey

I just happened on this one again today - it's an older thread, but that doesn't matter, 'cos it is from people sharing what THEY are/were going through.

Seems that the emotions can actually de-rail some, so listen up

But it doesn't have to be that way. The lesson to take from this, is that you can learn "new ways" to handle things while on Cohens - but it always good to have an idea HOW to do that.

DO have a read - maybe this thread can help YOU to understand a little more about this Cohens path, and maybe even WHY people say things like "the weightloss is around 10% of the journey - the rest happens in the mind".

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6218

Koh

PS and do reply to add your thoughts to that thread !!

Default Ideas for Motivation.......

Here follows a link to a five-year-old post that is as relevant today as it was back then !! Most today won't even know the names of some of the posters.

It may help those who REALLY DO want to search for extra Motivation (despite the earlier post that said "You don't need it...." - we ALL get a buzz from Motivation when it is available - so here goes...)

As often happens, the introductory post re "Motivational Ideas" then led to a huge "Question and Answer" session in the thread that holds a range of great input from a large number of Cohenites, both new, and more experienced. Enjoy !!

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3594

Every day, new people have to learn those same things that most others who have completed Cohens already know. There's no shame in that either - because "We really don't know what we don't know yet!"

That phrase is as true in MY life today (in my 60's) as it ever was !! Even today I find new things that I had never fully comprehended in earlier years !! But hey, that's OK - I'll continue to learn from these.....

I won't be beating myself up about "What I didn't know" - I guess, like all of you, I just have to get on with it, with my new-found knowledge.....

Same on Cohens - take it and run with it.....

Rock on,
Koh

Default The Cohens Plan "Trimesters"

For those who know "there is a post somewhere on here about the Three Trimesters" :-

Dezzy re-found the link (thanks hun )
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=229273#post229273

See if your head starts nodding with that one....

Koh
PS and make sure YOU do get right to the end of trimester #3. It's the Numero Uno, even though it is #3....

Umm, maybe that is not right - the first one (the real Numero Uno) is most important, 'cos without starting, you'd never get to even know there was a #3, right?

Default Doing a RESET can lead to weight gain if done wrongly.

DID YOU KNOW - that doing a Reset (with no carbs) for longer than 48 hours can work against you, and have you GAIN weight?

I didn't either - and it seems many others also aren't aware.

After reading this post...
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthr...036#post410036
... do please go on to read the replies. It is important, as several of those replying show me this could be an issue that is NOT WELL UNDERSTOOD.

So, if you are maintaining, yet slowly gaining weight, this whole Reset thing could be the culprit. Are these words in the Maintenance Guidelines? I don't know and I can't check as I don't have a Cohens plan, nor a Maintenance guide.

In summary, DON'T do a Reset (with no carbs) for any longer than 48 hours!! After that, you need some carbs, or else!! But there really is so much more, so DO go and read all of the replies too. If those posts are correct, (and I have no way of knowing, but you will...) a lot of angst can be saved.

Default The Importance of Iodine

Did you know how important Iodine is to our bodies? I do recall that Iodised salt was invented to boost the Western world's intake of the stuff.

To understand how a lack of Iodine can adversely affect our sugar levels, read Tantravaya's post here:-
https://newyouforum.com/forum/showth...486#post250486

Too much fluoride coupled with too little Iodine seems to be a bad coupling. Could the simple addition of Iodine tablets make a HUGE change in your life? From her words, it appears the above combination can lead to the need to "binge eat". If that is something that has affected you, do click the link above.
