Default Sweet Tooth

Week two on Cohens. Had my first week's weigh in yesterday and lost 3.7kg! Thrilled with the first week's result! HOWEVER, I'm finding I am craving something sweet...my fruit not quite satisfying my sweet tooth....any suggestions? (It is of course that 'wrong time of the month' for me this week so know WHY I'm having it, just hard to find a solution).

Are you allowed sugar free gum on the program still? You could try that or you could try diet soft drinks?

Hi - yes I am. I actually forgot about gum, just read about it again this afternoon. Will give it a go. Have also cooked some apples in sweetner and put a bit of cinimon on it for afternoon tea and it did the trick. (Found the recipe just after I posted my thread). Thanks again - will make note of the gum. Good luck on your journey.

I put a couple of sweetner tablets in a little spray bottle (like lense cleaner empty bottle) and also mixed her hemestes granulate sugar with cinnamon in an empty spice bottle then, whenever I get that "urge' like with my morning cup of coffee, I spray a bit on my squares of crispbread (so that the cinnamon/sugar will stick) and I then feel like I am having something really naughty.............but I'm NOT!!! That satisfies me, hope it works for you. Sometimes, I even peel my apple and cut it into about 16ths, and shake it up in a ziplock bag with a tsp of the same sugar/cinnamon mix.
I sometimes wonder if I will ever GET OVER actually wanting sweet things though. I am well into maintenance and know I still have that darn sweet tooth and have to watch myself ALL the time!! I still do the cracker trick to keep it at bay. Good luck on your journey.

Thanks "Battler"...wow, look at your weight loss? That is brilliant. Thanks for the tip. I'll will go and look for hemestes granulate sugar tomorrow. Great idea with apple, can also put it on peaches / nectarines and put it under the grill for a couple of minutes I guess. That is definately going to help as I am (or rather USED TO BE ) a 4 o'clock chocolate person! This will be my replacement.

Hi Kokko,

Two things :-

1. The correct spelling is Hermesetas... might make it easier to find, and

2. When buying Hermesetas, be sure you buy the standard and NOT the Gold - there is a slight difference in labelling - if you see "Gold" anywhere on the label, put it back on the shelf !!

I was a HUGE sweet tooth pre-cohens. I found the chromium tablets (1 a day) have kept my sweet cravings away completely!! Those things are fantastic...I have no interest in sweet foods at all which is so not like me.

Hi 'Findingmeagain'. I will definately get some this week. My consultant also suggested it, just had a bit of a big spend up and couldn't add that to the bill. Will be good investment though. Congratulations on your weight loss...that's brilliant. Wish I was there already!

Hi Guys, thought you might like to kow that I've checked with my consultant and that Hermesetas Granulate sugar is NOT allowed until refeed. .. Only sucaryl is allowed while on the programme. I did find Sucaryl drops though and can now use on the crackers as "Battler" suggested.

my program says "artificial sweetners may be used - Heresetas and Sugarine only. Natural or herbal sweeteners may Not be used. Max 5 tablets per day." un quote.
I guess it doesn't say the granulated stuff though. I used it all through my program so maybe thats why I took a bit longer than some!! You could still dissolve the tablets and spray the crispbread like I suggested and then sprinkle with cinnamon......same with the apple. Probably won't seem so naughty though!! ha ha

The sweeteners were taken off the program probably after yours was made up battler according to one of the information forums. I never used sweeteners through out my program I was probably too lazy to bother with the recipes I just kept everything pretty simple, but I must say the sugar free gum really does get me through the day without snacks!!

Yep, so they must have changed it recently. The sucaryl drops and cinnamon works a dream though - so I most definately still use the recipe though. I'm also having it on stewed apple and LOVE it. Thanks again.
