Re: What is your xmas menu
We usually have a rolled rump roast so I will do that, with potoes and all for the daughter. We will either eat the meat twice or I will do shrimp for one meal. Haven't really thought too much about it.
Salad or some kind of vegi haven't decieded on that yet for myself and Mr. if he is going to stay on track. Am not planning to do any of the baking I usually do. Don't want all the goodies around. I am not sure I would be able to resist all the favorites. So best to just not have them around. pudge |

Re: What is your xmas menu
Before Cohens: I use to cook Stuffed Roast Pork and Apple Sauce, Honey Baked & Glazed Ham with Mustard, Roast Turkey & Cranberry Sauce PLUS Baked Vegies when the meal was hot. When the meal was cold I'd still do the roast meats PLUS Prawns and Mango Salsa and Salads. Dessert was homemade Plum Pudding, Rum Trifle and to have with coffee after lunch or morning tea before lunch would be a selection of homemade treats e.g. Rum Balls, Mini Fruit Mince Tarts, Shortbread, Rocky Road, Apricot Balls, White Christmas and my homemade version of Ferro Rocher chocolates. OMG - Seeing all that in print makes me realise - NO WONDER I was obese. And that's without the alcohol that went with it.
This Year for my Family: I'm giving my family one Roast Meat (I'll let them pick which one they want) and Prawns Mango Salsa & and Salad. Dessert: Fresh Fruit Salad and homemade Icecream. Family are happy to have Maison which is a non-alcoholic wine which they like so they can have that. This Year for Myself: From my allowance - Prawns & Mango Salsa with Salad (and I won't even feel left out I love that meal so much) and Sprite Zero in a Champagne Flute! I'll probably still be serving my family some of the above treats with their coffee as I'll be cooking them up anyway for the local Hospice for their terminally ill patients and their families. Did it last year and found it very rewarding. I'm in the zone so won't be tempted by cooking them at all - I already know what they taste like and while they are delicious - they could never taste as good as slim is going to feel! This year I will rule myself - I won't let food rule me! I am the author of my life!

Re: What is your xmas menu
Hi all,
I have decided to have a prawn and mago salad for lunch. For the evening meal I think it will be turkey or chicken with a vege medley, followed by a piece of fresh stone fruit from the orchard. I am watching and waiting for the nectarines, apricots and peaches to ripen with a lot of anticipation - all organically grown! My family have enjoyed the cherries but they aren't on my list so while I've harvested for them I've had to leave the bowl on the table for them each day..... Never mind, I've already baggsed the bulk of the stone fruit that I am allowed Then there are my apples too...I am really looking forward to them in the New Year! I am working on mulching the fruit trees with my husband and I'm sure they'll be a lot happier when it's done. Then I can focus on some new vegie patches for all my favourite greens! Since I find I'm eating so much more lettuce's these days I figure it will be cheaper to grow my own and just keep sowing them as I harvest....... Must dash the MOTH is calling from the roof about the @#$% christmas lights not being easy to hang!!! LOL Cheers, Dee. |

Re: What is your xmas menu
Prawns, Bugs, Prawns, Bugs,Prawns and prawns - maybe a mango or two for everyone and then some more seafood - we eat the best beef in the world at our place - so for our poor poor daughter who has been in foreign lands that don't have good steak if any meat at all - no doubt she will have a T Bone breakfast with prawns - to celebrate Christmas in Australia - and my traditional Bundie - ........ while I sip water !!!!!!!!! and I'll poke my little finger out to make it look good !!!!!!! Re: What is your xmas menu
I just wrote the note below in Cass's diary re xmas and thought it might be a good idea to copy into here, re the psychological mental shift we can all make to ensure the entire xmas season can be a pleasant change, rather than a minefold of missed opportunities to eat! So, have a think about it and i am sure we can all have the best menu for xmas day, i do like Andy's idea of prawns and mango! Yum!
Why not adopt the philosophy that xmas is the BEST time to be doing Cohens as you now know what you can and cant eat, no problems with all that massive food junket most people pack away and WE ALWAYS REGRET LATER or next day! We Cohenites can elegantly pick at the buffet tables etc, sip our zero or diet coke, or water and MAYBE FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, ENJOY THE ENTIRE XMAS SEASON IN A WHOLE NEW WAY, the slimmer, trimmer, more elegant new YOU way! Santa clause is coming to town and Baloo always called the Cohen program SANTA's PLAN! So sticking to Santa's plan can be our best christmas present ever! Just dream on all those new smaller sizes you can go shopping for in January! Such fun there for the taking! Enjoy, Pandora |
