Default Faithy's Diary

Well next week it's 6 months.. as of 5 months I have lost just over 43 kilos.. pretty much half way there. For the most part I have been doing very well, I seem to lose about the same each month which has been awesome (except for the 1st month, I lost double), but this month it seems to have slowed down heaps. I'm trying hard not to get depressed about it, because by normal standards I still have lost a fair bit.. but my dream of being at my goal weight by my birthday in May seems to be slipping from my fingers.

As far as I'm aware I have been doing everything 100% correct, except for communion which I take once every 2 weeks. I had considered not taking it, but my consultant has been way supportive & she seems to think it won't change things much.

Aren't some people just so funny when it comes to women losing weight quickly??!! I think there are a lot of people out there who secretly hope I fail. Well I hold my head up proudly & say "not this time"..

Wishing you all the success!!!

Well done Faithy - that is totally awesome.

You will be where you want in May - it's 7 months away. just look after yourself, don't deviate and you'll be fine.

communion is fine - I take it weekly, it's so little and remember church wafers used for communion are yeast free. (Just don't drink the altar wine!)

So long as you are doing this because you want to be healthy in your own skin, don't think about others' reactions (now I just have to rember that yself!).

wishing you success.

HI Faithy

Wow! WHat a tremendous loss.... Congratulations

Can you tell us a little more about your journey? What sort of changes can you see in your personality and your life?

What sort of recipes do you use?

As a seasoned Cohens practiser, your advice would be valuable indeed!

Hi Faithy,

That is an awesome result, congratulations. You have already achieved so much, and May is only 7 months away, just keep remembering why you are doing it and the time will just fly by.

Thanks Guys!!! So totally awesome to finally be able to talk to people going through the same thing as me. I had no idea till just recently that this site was here..

Meagain.. you know I think this is the first time in my whole diet life I can actually truthfully say I am doing it 100% for me.. I guess that has a lot to do with why I am so determined this time.. I've tried nearly everything & this has been the only diet or program that I have tried that works the way it says it does.

Hmmm recipies.. well I tend to stick to the things I love & enjoy.. breakfast will either be an egg with tomato or yoghurt.. lunch I usually have chicken & cauliflower soup (OH MY it's yummy) or feta once a week.. dinner, I just LOVE beef with tomato & spinach or tuna with vegies..

My personal life.. well gee I dont know where to start.. I'm SOOO much more outgoing.. I'm doing heaps more activities(especially within my church).. I worked nearly the whole day last Saturday at a church working bee & had the energy to go all day without dying after the first 10 minutes..
I'm trying different types of clothes now (was a size 28 now a 20) & I've been told that I'm very trendy.. which I find quite funny.. people always comment on how much they love my clothes etc.. I'm left standing there going who me??
I buy most of my clothes on sale or ebay.. underwear has become a real pain.. bra sizes are getting smaller by the week.

Anyway.. perhaps that's enough rant for now.. I'll just share some recipies with you all that I love..

XXX

Meat & spinach

Beef cut into cubes (from allowance)
Tomato (from allowance - I cant have more than half at a time)
Spinach
Freshly cracked black pepper
Chilli powder

Brown the beef according to taste.. Add a little water & place tomato, spinach, pepper & chilli & cook until water has evaporated & the spinach has cooked down a little. Enjoy!
I like to spoon the spincah & tomato onto a crispbread... mmmm

Chicken & cauliflower soup (from my consultant, except with a slight change)

Chicken from allowance
Onion from allowance
Cauliflower from allowance
1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon curry powder
cracked black pepper

Boil the kettle & turn on the stove.. place all the ingedients into the saucepan with enough water to cover.. boil until cooked (including the curry powder & pepper).. when cooked blend until smooth.. it should be nice & thick & it's SOOOOO good.

I hope you guys enjoy!!!

Yea of little faith Faithy you will be at your goal by May should be no problem the way your going. When I read your post I thought you were going to say something like your birthday was in Nov. or Dec. But hey you probably wil be at your goal by then anyway.
I want to be finished by Turkey day. But I don't if that will happen but I am working on it. Isn't it great to be able to get out and do things without feeling like crap. I am so much more healthy and feel really good about myself.
It helps when you get nice comments too. Or when people that haven't seen you either don't reconize you or are not sure it is you. I have been getting that a lot now. So hang in there it will happen

Hi Faithy
So glad you found this forum! Of Course you can get to yr goal for your birthday - unless you have a different calendar where you live, its 7 full months before May and at the rate you are going, you just have to keep doing exactly what you are doing now, and as night follows day, you will be there and wearing all those nice new clothes.

How do i know, cos now you have your very own CHEERLEADING SQUAD = US to be with you every step of the way! Pandora

Hi Faithy,

WOW!!!!!!!!!! What tremendous weightloss you have achieved in 6 months. Keep doing what you are doing, and you will be at the end in no time at all.

Yes, I am also a fan of the chicken and cauliflower soup. Try it with fresh asparagus and cauliflower........very delicious and yummy and I add a touch of ground chilli to add a little bite. I actually don't mash it up as I like to feel the texture of real food and you can make it with as much water as you like and it's really filling and satisfying. Really good on a cold evening.

Good luck with the rest of the program and hope to share your journey with you.

I just had my 6 month weigh in.. I lost another 7.1 kilos this past month.. so I've lost just over 50 kilos.. I am so over the moon.. it seems on average I lose around the same each month which is pretty cool!!!
As for getting to my goal for my birthday in May.. I know it's still a way off, but even if I do continue to lose the same 7 every month I will only just srape in.. so yeah it's still all so good & awesome & I'm more excited than ever..
My Consultant whom I adore has given me some ideas to try & get it moving a little faster.. I'll let you know how I go..

I am so proud of myself because I haven't deviated once.. not once & it's the first time I can honestly say that a programe does as it actually says..

Thanks for all your comments & support.. you all rock.. all the best to you all XXX

You ROCK Faithy!!! Do tell on the ideas the consultant has told you to move the w8 faster?? Drinking water is a biggie, but on the scheme of things its happens the way its supposed to the body is such a fine tuned machine and I guess thats why everyone loses differently. KEEP IT UP Faithy. :P

Hi Faithy,

You go, girl - rock their socks off !!! The "frustrated mathematician" (me..) has a thing or two to say (bear with me, won't you )
Quote:
I'm trying hard not to get depressed about it, because by normal standards I still have lost a fair bit..
Umm, are you KIDDING???? You are WELL OVER halfway in 6 months, with SEVEN months left to your birthday?

Quote:
but my dream of being at my goal weight by my birthday in May seems to be slipping from my fingers.
Well, you just tell those fingers to BEHAVE THEMSELVES !! It seems they are responsible for messing with your mind !! So, tell them to stick a sock in it, and read on....

I've just read that you have lost over 50Kg in 6 months (and the first month was DOUBLE (yeah, pretty normal...) - so what does this MEAN?? It means you've lost SEVEN months worth at around 7Kgs per month (counting double for the first one). Then, you go on to say
Quote:
it seems on average I lose around the same each month which is pretty cool!!!
Sounds pretty cool to me - about 7Kg per month, right? I reckon that is pretty cool - any takers?

So, if it all continues as is, doesn't that get you to your goal in another SIX months (with change... ) and another month left to handle 2 - 3 weeks of refeed too? Faithy, you keep on what you are doing, keep loving what you are doing for you, and your next birthday will be one HELLUVA celebration !!

I just hope we are all invited - and I hope you can keep up with all of the new clothes you will need to buy

You have a great attitude, Faithy - keep on with it, and I reckon you will SURGE in with time to spare, not just scrape in - keep the faith, as you have done so far.

Koh

Oh thanks heaps guys.. you made me smile BIG time.. I've been really suffering this past week.. I have the flu & my cat is really sick & all I can seem to think about is chocolate.. but I am proud to say I haven't given in

I know I should make it by my birthday.. I guess if I expect that I wont it's doing one of 2 things.. I guess if I think I wont I havent set myself up for failure.. but by saying I wont IS setting me up for failure.. I'll just keep pressing on & not make my birthday such a focal point & then I cant fail LOL

My consultant suggested I squeeze the lemon juice of one lemon in the morning.. drink that (if possible on it's own) & then lots of water.. remember that the juice of one lemon is one piece of fruit.. she recommended I dont do this more than 7 days.. it's kind of gross.. then she suggested I have my lunch at breakfast time.. so I've been doing that this week & having my dinner at lunch time & my breakfast & dinner time.. I have to admit I have found this very hard to do. I actually gagged the first couple of mornings cause I found that for me it was too much food in the mornings.. I dont know if this will boost the weight loss.. I guess I'll find out in another 3 weeks (can hardly wait.. love my weigh in day)

As for what I normally do.. well I'll drink 2 large glasses of water first thing in the morning.. then I'll fill up a 2 litre jug of water.. then I KNOW at the end of the day if I have drunken enough.. water is SO important. (I try to have an extra glass or 2 in the evening)
I usually have yoghurt for breakfast.. occasioanlly I'll have an egg with veggies.. I love my vita~weats.. one at breakfast etc etc..
At this stage I have stayed away from things like mayo & the low cal soft drinks.. not sure why.. but I've decided to leave things as basic & simple as possible.. my only down fall might be that I love curry powder & have to be extra careful that I dont go over my 1 teaspoon allowance for the whole day.
My fruit of choice is apples & I usually eat my crispbread after my meal.. the same as my fruit.. so I'm only have 3 meals a day with no snacks.

The past 2 days I've gone back to my normal routine but tomorrow plan to go back to having lunch at breaky time etc.. just feeling too sick at the moment to change things around too much.

Hang in there everyone hey.. in the bigger picture this is but a short moment in time. (and we look so awesome while we're doing this.. enjoy .. )

Faithy - you have done so much and done it so well - you should be so proud of your self - keep it steady for the home run and don't you even think about chocolate - if you see a bit melted on the footpath it'll turn you off it for life.

mate you are brilliant in the way you are getting this job done and you are on the road to great things - a fitter healthy skinny you - and you'll do it for your birthday - so good on you mate - have a good day week and hang in on the journey.

Andy

Thanks Andy wishing you an awesome week too..

I know I'll probably get punched for this but I reckon you can taste chocolate when you smell it anyway (I dont advise this if you're not having a strong day cause it might over tempt you)

I said to my daughter the other day.. cause she's trying to watch what she eats.. "You know what that tastes like. You know that when you have reached your goal that that same food will still be in existance. It's not going anywhere & you're not missing out on anything if you don't eat it. You have to want to lose the weight more than you want to taste that (whatever it is)."

I've just spent the week sick! Bleh!!! I tell you what, it's SOOO hard to stick to the programme when you're feeling so crap.
I have viral bronchitis & on Wednesday last week I was gagging at just the thought of eating. I rang my consultant who said if I was sick to come off the programme & get back into it when I felt better. (when she said come off the programme she meant that I didn't have to eat everything, but to try & stay within the boundaries).. I was sooo upset, not with her, but with the circumstances. In all my diet life I have always had a reason to stop doing what I was doing.. this time I was not going to let me being sick get the better of me. So I ate. I ate as per normal (Cohens normal) & it looks like I've made it through. I'm still not 100% but I believe the worst of it is behind me.
I guess this time I want to succeed so badly, nothing is going to stop me.
