Eskimokiss's Diary
Yes, I am another newbie to Cohen's. Although I admit I have been lurking for a few weeks (Lol!) whilst I figured out if Cohen's was for me....and as you can see I have decided to give it a shot. I have always been on the bigger side, however I found after my pregnancy (although I put on the recommended amount roughly whilst pregnant...) afterwards it just seemed to skyrocket upwards. (My little one is now almost 2 1/2 years old) I had lost about 12 kg in the past year, then I had a shoulder injury and had to stop exercising and go on strong medication....which in turn made another 5kg come back on!!!! So here I am on my first day!!! Unfortunately for me, I am going to have to have small procedure done on my shoulder next week which also involves cortisone, which I am told will slow my weight loss but slow weight loss it better than none right? Looking forward to talking to you all and sharing the journey!

Re: Eskimokiss's Diary
First day has been pretty good considering a few other things that have been going on in the side lines (eg. 2 1/2 year old daughter with a chest infection...meaning doctor's appointments, chest xrays and searching the planet for some rare and unusual antibiotics that have to be specially ordered in lol!!)
I have felt pretty good throughout the day and just make sure I spaced out the fruit and crackers in between meals and tried to have lots of water too!!! I have a slight headache right now, but I am putting that down to only 1 coffee today (so going to have another now....) do you ever get used to the taste without milk? I might end up sticking with peppermint tea if I can ride out the caffeine withdrawls. Nearly dinner time.....so almost through the day (still have to get through the after dinner munchies time though!!!) What does everyone do then? Drink heaps of water or save the crackers until then? Or fruit? Eskimo Thanks for the warm welcome everyone

Re: Eskimokiss's Diary
hi eskimokiss (what a cute name )
glad you had a good first day, there will be plenty more to come, especially when you get into the Cohen's Zone. That's the "please remind me to eat" and "why am I feeling so happy?" zone. I usually save a piece of fruit for the end of the day, cos it's something sweet and desserty. don't drink too much water unless you want to be getting out of bed to visit the loo in the middle of the night. cya babytime |

Re: Eskimokiss's Diary
Thanks babytime.....saving a piece of fruit sounds like a good idea (or even half a piece!). I never even though of the whole guzzling water at night will make me get up all night scenario (gee u can tell it is my first day) and I have heaps to learn.
I will have to study the cookbook too, as I am sure I will get sick of just really basic meal, but wanted to start of just getting the hang of what I should be doing. I have bee checking out the other sections as well and it looks like others have come up with some great recipes. One quick question...I saw the one about the apple museli with the cracked pepper vita wheat (does one regular Vita wheat = 1 crispbread ? Is that right?) Eskimokiss

Re: Eskimokiss's Diary
Welcome, eskimokiss. Yes, slow weight loss is better than none. I can guarantee that. And, at my age, it's not whether I will need to get up at night, but how many times. I think the maximum may have been eight

Re: Eskimokiss's Diary
Week 1 - Day 2
Thanks Shell - for the Vita Wheat info...I thought that was the case but wasn't game to try it until I verified on here lol! AJ - Hi I have been seeing your posts and you are doing so well! Everyone is doing really well. This program just seems so amazing...I am hoping it is going to work well for me too And yes, must of over done the water in the early evening as well as I was having to go a few more times than usual last night!!! Jen_2008 - Hi There. We had a terrible night with my daughter last night....I am hanging out for the chemist to ring us to get the special antibiotics into her for her chest infection. It is so awful when they are sick. I just checked out your ticker and you are doing so well. How long have you been on the program? Do you find it gets easier week by week and once you start to get a great loss? I must admit when I woke up this morning I was feeling very average and it would have been so tempting to eat/drink something 'naughty' and blame it on a bad night, however I decided no, this is day 2 and I am determined to stick to this program 100%. So I have had my yogurt breakfast, black coffee and some water and am feeling good. Just got to be strong and get through this first tricky week!!

Re: Eskimokiss's Diary
Hi Eskimokiss,
I've just started the program as well on Day 3 today. I am having trouble with the black coffe. I put a sweetener in it but it has an awful taste. I have tried the peppermint tea and think I might even give black tea a go instead of coffee. I thought I would have a rotten headache from not having a few cups of coffee a day but so far so good. Cheers Tuti |

Re: Eskimokiss's Diary
The first few days are definitely the most difficult, eskimokiss. I'll get in first here, and tell you to take one day at a time.
Tuti, I decided to cut back on caffeine and am using brewed decaf coffee (just made in a plunger). As long as it's sweet, I'm quite enjoying it. However, I don't mind real (instant or brewed) coffee sweet and black, so maybe the decaf isn't a solution for you. Good luck to both of you through this week. AJ

Re: Eskimokiss's Diary
Week 1, Day 3 down
Had a busy day today and was away from home at lunch time...I was a bit worried about what I could eat, but got a Sumo Salad (mixed lettuce, onion, tomato, cucumber, grilled chicken and balsamic vinegar). There was way more tomato and onion than allowance, so I just left that and ate what I thought would be the allowance of the salad. I think I did pretty good given my choices!! I think that the chicken was probably a bit less than I should have had but hopefully it wont be too detrimental to it all. AJ - can you point me in the direction of your chicken and vegie meatball recipe to take when you go out? They sounded good and I will try to make some and freeze for lunches on the run. Will be glad to be staying at home tomorrow...I am already started to feel a bit addicted to weighing my food lol!!! (feel like taking my scales with me!!)

Re: Eskimokiss's Diary
You did well with the lunch, Eskimokiss. Sounds like you did almost as well as you would have at home.
I use the Delicious Chicken Rissoles recipe from http://lifestyleclinic.com.au/diet-r...e=Poultry&id=7. I make 12, which are then about chicken nugget size. If I microwave them just before I go out, put them in a plastic bag and into my handbag they stay at least lukewarm for a couple of hours. I've taken them frozen on one occasion when I didn't know if I'd be home for lunch, and had access to a microwave. If I'd come home I would have been able to put them back in the freezer. Emma has posted a variation here http://newyouforum.com/smf/index.php?topic=1336.0; was going to try adding Kaffir lime leaves, but seems our supermarket doesn't carry them any more. AJ

Re: Eskimokiss's Diary
Week 1 Day 4
Survived another day!! Well not survived but made it through with flying colours, if I do say so myself!! I have tried out a couple of recipes so far, a couple from the book and a couple from the forum. They have been fantastic and I have been pleasantly surprised with them all. Overall I haven't really felt hungry/starving at anytime which I have been surprised about and I don't really feel like I am craving or missing out. (ie. can watch my husband eat chocolate donuts and not even have any interest in the slightest!! ) Just have to keep going and going.........
