Question Conceiving - what are my options?

I am a little concerned about the future, because my husband and I have planned to start trying for a baby when we get back from our 2 week Bali holiday at the end of April.

Basically, I have stuffed myself up because if I had stuck to the plan and not fallen off the wagon for the last 2 months, I could have been finished refeed and everything before we went away and all would have been perfect. But now, I know I won't have reached goal by April (27 kilos in 9 weeks is to big an expectation.... even for Dr Cohen ), and am thinking even once we come back, I will probably still have at least 15kg to go, which could take me another 3 months, which is too long for us to wait to begin trying. We want to have 2 more kids, not too close together, before hubby turns 40, and he will be 37 next month.

So here is my dilemma.... what are my options?

1) Do we start trying while I am still on the program?

I know you are meant to stop Cohens when you find out you are pregnant... but at what point do you have to do that? If you found out you were pregnant, is it an option to immediately order refeed and complete that before you stop? What are the risks?

2) Do I order refeed and complete it before we start trying, regardless of where I am in my journey?

I am thinking if this was the case I would order and complete before we went away, which doesn't give me long on the program left to lose as much as possible.

Waiting to start trying isn't an option, but do I have any others I haven't thought of? And what would be the best way to go?

shrinking Tam as we all know TTC may take weeks it may take months so in my opinion i would start while i was on the program (if waiting isn't an option)because as i said it could take a few months before anything comes of it and by then you may be off the program or already on refeed but if it does happen before i was told you can order your re-feed (according to your last BT) and it wont do any harm to you or the pregnancy then you wont balloon up and can always go back to Cohens later on... but hey your not going till the end of April as we know Cohens works in mysterious ways you may be closer to re-feed than you think......

Hi babe,
I definitely wouldnt wait either! I am still actively TTC (and have been for 18months), even though I have just started Cohen's.....even a little weight loss will help if we all are fortunate to fall pregnant so GO FOR IT!!
Good luck and let us know how you go!!

The Drs say that a 5 % weight loss makes a big difference in terms of fertility

I wouldn't weight. Falling pregnant can sometime be alot harder than we think. You can always go back to cohens after.

Good luck.

Definitely concur with all of the above ! Do not 'wait'.
I am interested to know why 'waiting is not an option' though?
I completed Cohens in 2008, lost 22kgs in 20 weeks, and was then told my body fat percentage was TOO low to conceive. I think we all have to walk our own path, and you will decide what your heart wants to do anyway, regardless of what others have said.
Mind you, after I too have been TTC #2 for 2+ years, the weight loss didn't seem to be the 'miracle cure' for me anyway. My GP/ FS have both stated pretty emphatically that weight STABILITY is more important than actual weight in kgs, when trying to conceive. Mother Nature has a funny way of putting things on hold for us, esp if she thinks our body is going through a famine ! (i.e Body fat % too low)...
So you will make your decision, but I second Louise etc... don't wait, coz it may not happen when you want it to anyway. I have spent 2 years saying, "oh I won't join the gym, or I won't order another Cohen program/ book a holiday/ find a new job etc - coz I might be pregnant next month and that would be a waste"... etc etc And so, here I am, still no pregnancy, and all the 'waiting' for my little baby to appear has just left me overweight and back at the starting line again, because I waited for this, and waited for that.
Health comes first, even Cohens advocates that. So stay healthy, and GO FOR IT!! honestly, there's not a moment to lose!
xxx ruby

Giving this another go as I know it works. It's been years since I fully completed the program, and with great success. But I'm not in a happy place now that menopause is on the menu.

2008 stats:
Start weight= 89.9kg (8/8 )
Final weight > refeed = 54.1kg (24/12)
