Default Women only thread re periods

Am mortified to be starting this but am worried.

Is it normal to have massively heavy periods while on cohens? Mine is really horrific, am a little concerned. Have never in my life had a period this heavy, or even half this heavy, and it HURTS.

Is this normal?

Hi Bella...I too experienced severe cramping initially but it's been getting better as time passes or im drugged up on Midol. Yes when I'm Cohens cramps do seem more severe. However from having completely irregular cycles, I'm now more or less regular.

Thanks ladies

I've always been regular as clockwork and never had cramping / period problems at all, this has come as a shock! Will assume that this sort of change is normal and carry on

Mine were always on the heavier side, but I am feeling more and more of the aches that go with it. I asked some of my slimmer friends and they said welcome to the pain . I always had the pain during, but leading up to their wonderful arrival is completely outrageous.

I would go see your Doctor if it is too heavy, it is not normal to have a very heavy flow.

I've always had difficult & erratic periods (PCOS) but interestingly, they seemed to be MUCH worse when I was slim?????????????? Seems as I've got fat, in GENERAL my periods aren't as bad.

My memory isn't faulty either as I only put this weight on in less than the last 3 years

Doing other detox programs etc Ive always noticed my first period to be heavier as well. Good clean-out? Dunno

I'm concerned for your symptoms as I don't see eating to Plan should cause this problem because our Plans are low fat, fresh vege and protein, and well hydrated.
The hormomes HGH, Insulin and seratonin shouldn't cause this effect. If it were me I'd see the Dr for reassurance through a a smear and check once this one is over, or NOW if in unusual pain.

I hadn't related it to Cohen's, but over the past few months mine have become massively heavy and the pain has increased 10 fold, and last longer than a week. Usually they are light and only last 3 days.

I had horribly heavy periods the first 2 months of being on cohens. They lasted over a week each time and i had 3 in 2 months. Started bleeding again whenever there was any nookie haha. So not much nookie going on in our house. Also the most painful I have ever experienced. I thought it was kidney stones one night when i nearly passed out. I went to the Doctor who did loads of blood tests etc and I came back fine. Hormones all happy. The next month was very heavy but not as painful. I seem to be back to once a month now. Fingers crossed it won't be as painful this month. But yes even if it is just food it is having a huge effect on our bodies. Mostly in the good ways

Thanks Vivo for your comment here, what you have described is what I'm experiencing, except for the extra pain. I just did a search for Period-related changes because I was experiencing an extra long, extra heavy Period. It also came only 2 weeks after my last one! I'm not experiencing cramps or extra pain though, so I'm glad about that.

They had become slightly erratic over the last year or so. Sometimes only coming after a gap of 3 months!

At the moment I'm suffering through a Period that has lasted over a week, came only 2 weeks after the last one and with quite a heavy flow. It also seems a lot brighter than previously - that could be because it's only 2 weeks since the last clean out! Sorry if this is TMI but I'd be interested to know who else is experiencing changes in their monthly (weekly?! ) cycle and if so, what are they?

For me, I'm going to give it a couple more days and then visit the doctor if nothing changes.

Hey - you may of seen the comment I made in my diary - I am on the pill, so got a light normal period when it is forced to come as it usually has for the past 4 or so years and then 1.5 weeks after that got a 4 day heavy period! Next week is my normal pill period again so be interesting to see what happens!

If it seems weird - always best to see the DR - I decided ill wait another month to see how it plays out and see how it goes...

Mmmm i have commetned in my diary about this too. I am on the pill also. Never had an issue but when I started my program this time (but not last time!) I had break thru period come after 2 weeks on plan even though it wasnt due for another 2 weeks. It lasted what felt like ages but wasnt too heavy. Cramps were bad bad bad though. My TOM has arrived today as well, on que for the pill tho... but its heavier than normal, its also extremely sore to the point I am about to go home from work cos of it. Yuck, I don't like it.

I just wanted to add to this too, that my period is a lot heavier than usual and a different uh....''consistency'' for want of a better word, without being too graphic!! I hope it's a ''clean out'' period lol, like others have mentioned. I can't remember what they were like when I was on Cohens the first time.

I am so happy to have my body, I respect it, and always treat it with love and kindness! I honour my body for all that it is, imperfections and all. The most important lesson I have learnt from my journies with Cohens, has been to re-find self-love and respect. Staying in love and respect with myself will always ensure I remainhealthy and comfortable!

I found my highly erratic periods settled when I was on plan. Became regular as clockwork for the first time ever!

The bleeding only starts after a natural drop in progesterone (after an initial spike during the fertile period) so to me it seems like the hormones are beginning to be balanced (previously hardly produced progesterone at all)

Hope this helps

mine has been changing throughout as well, much heavier, certainly coming more often too. I'm just starting to track it to see how regular it is...I've also just had my first real PMT too, actually had a tantrum, and threw things...and a little cry lol...I only worked out what was going on the next day when my period started!
