Default How to beat sugar cravings!

Hi all,

Since being on the Cohen's diet I have discovered that I love dessert - no matter what kind! I used to think it was only ice cream but no there is more to the story. With desperation to avoid these cravings I found a link that some of you might be interested in if you're in the same boat as me!

I like these one:

3. Drink more water
Dehydration can trigger sugar cravings, so make sure you drink adequate amounts of water. When a sugar craving hits, drink two glasses of water first and then re-evaluate whether you need any sugar.

9. Get more sleep
Not getting enough sleep affects hunger levels and how efficiently your body burns kilojoules. Inadequate sleep increases levels of the hunger hormone ghrelin, which increases our desire for snack with a higher carbohydrate content the following day

10. Keep a food diary
Write down all the foods and drinks you consume as well as your mood and activity you were doing when you at. This can help you identify the triggers that cause you to increase your sugar intake. Awareness around your habits makes it easier to change.

Hi Nurgz, and others,

I believe the "sugar craving warrior" is chromium picolinate. Read a bit more here, Chromium picolinate

.... or search for it on here by its name - there are quite a few threads regarding it,

I have found the greatest product ever invented! Its an organic Stevia sweetener powder, but it ALSO HAS CHROMIUM in it! So when I have a sugar craving, I have a sweetened coffee, and it works both ways, instantly and longer lasting! Will look it up later so I can link the brand for people...

I mentioned the urge to chew in my Diary. Since taking the multi vitamins (which I thought I was taking but wasn't) the urge to chew has disappeared.

The deficiency in vitamins, minerals, even trace metals, can be subtle but significant.

Cohen's is a balanced program, but it is strongly recommended to take a good quality multi-vitamin. Once you do start taking the supplements the urge for sweet things, the urge to chew 'something, anything' and the fidgets should settle down

So (gasp!) are we obese because of a trace mineral deficiency?

Are the causes of obesity as simple as that?

If so, once on maintenance, we should be vigilant to continue with the multi vitamins indefinitely

Cheers
Kristine

I can not function without this little gem! I take one every day and some days I take two, particularly when TOM is visiting which is when I crave the most. I notice if I don't take it in the morning, I crave chocolate and sweets and anything I could get my hands on. Try it...it does work

I have been taking Chromium Picolinate since Day 1 of my diet and I am happy to brag that never did I give in to sugar cravings during the months I was on CD. Now that I am on maintenance, I still take it everyday.

Hi Winkiedo! Where do you buy yours here in Manila? I'm week 1 in my program and I'm struggling with hunger pangs and cravings! I need all the help I can get. Super thanks in advance!
