Default Weight lost but no cm lost after 1st week

Hi, I'm a newby and have completed my first week must admit had my hunger moments but getting better everyday.

Decided to weigh myself to see if all my hard work is doing something and to my surprise I had lost 4.5 kilos, couldn't believe it !!

Anyway I did my measurements and have only lost a little from my bust so I obviously have only lost fluid.

Has this happend to anyone else ?

I have been 100% good and am doing Dr Cohens remotely.

I wouldn't stress too much, when I did cohens the first time I didn't lose cm's every week and then some weeks I would lose HUGE amounts, everyone's bodies are different, the cm loss will come, stick to the program and you can't go wrong Congrats on the 4.5kg, thats awesome!

Hey Jen, great job on the weight loss, the hunger moments do actually pass and the 5 hours seems easy I promise! I have just done 4 weeks and at week 3 I seemed to have lost a lot in cm (and weight too!) - so I wouldnt worry too much, it will come off. Is all very exciting!

Hi Jen,

Welcome to the forum.

Wow, 4.5kg in a week - fantastic! Bet you are feeling much healthier.

Humans are funny creatures are we not? We want it and we want it now! There is a reason Dr Cohen says to only weigh and do measurements monthly. That is because people get despondent when they are not loosing it all and quickly.
If you have patience you will find your weight and measurement loss will be great but give the body time. It is making some big adjustments so be careful the head does not sabotage your great efforts.

Koh, who is our regular statistician did a bit of research a few years ago I seem to remember which showed that we tend to loose the weight first, then the cm's then we tend to integrate the body, when it seems like nothing is happening, and then we start the cycle again. We also seem to loose it from the top down - unfortunately the bum and legs last! Please correct me Koh if I am wrong on your research.

So patience and just keep keeping 100% to plan and you will be fine.

Enjoy the journey
Shanara

Hi Shanara, and others,

Pretty much got it.... but with this bit following, I think a little more needs to be said :-

I think "which first" varies between people. BUT, something I had said might have been mis-remembered - and that is that gravity comes into play as the fat softens, so people can find their waist might "grow" as their chest is losing cms, but only for a short time before the waist then "trims off" too.

I often read of people thinking "I must have measured wrong, as my waist went UP in cms last week".... Well, maybe you HADN'T measured wrong at all, and your waist will shrink next week.

Spot on about the "cycle of weightloss/cms loss" - I often refer to Kgs and cms as a "tag team" (like in Wrestling). While one is "in the ring" working hard, the other is often taking a breather, and waiting to be tagged back into the ring..... Not always, but often.

Certainly, it is all cyclic - and around a Month duration from start/finish of each cycle - hence why the good Doc advocates "Weigh Monthly".

Many don't though - and, as long as seeing no loss, or even a weight gain, doesn't disturb your psyche, then by all means weigh daily.

Treat it as an experiment, where your happiness does NOT depend on the outcome, and you'll be fine.

Koh

And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!
