Angry Week 5 and no weight loss this week

Hi,

I have been on the Cohen's program now for 5 weeks today. In my first month I lost 9.5kg and many centimetres which meant I was down to 63.5kg. In essence at week 4 I was only 1.5kg away from the top of my goal weight range (59 - 62kg). In the last week, I have only lost a couple of centimetres from my waist and hips and smaller amounts from other parts of my body. However I haven't lost a single gram... I know I am not supposed to weigh myself until every 4th week, but as I was so close to goal, decided that I would so I could see if I needed to start the refeed... You can imagine my disappointment when the scales said no weight loss this week... Having said that, it is day 18 of my monthly cycle so it is possible that is making a difference. This last week I haven't had any cheese at all and hardly any fruit and have cut back on the number of crispbreads so assumed I would have lost even more weight... I have been having probably 2.5 litres of water daily also... So, am hoping someone may be able to give me some positive thoughts on this all....

Best wishes

Monica

Hey Monica - turn that frown upside down! your loss so far is great and yes that time of the month does impact, but so does stressing about not losing!

Important not to miss out on any of your programme food though as this too can cause a problem! Juast stick 100% to the programme and you will be fine.

Hi
My thoughts are
1. If you are cutting back on food then your body might be panicking and holding on to what it has for survival's sake. Not enough food can be as bad as too much. Our book does suggest that you eat the fruit and crackers, I think for exactly this reason.
2. TOM can cause havoc on the scales. I can put on or loose 2kg overnight.

Check back with the scales in a couple of days. You might be surprised.

Good Luck.

Hi Monica,

What a great first month you had. A lovely lady here told me she cut her fruit and crispbreads in the hope of losing faster and found it actually slowed her down. When she re-introduced them she started losing weight again. They wouldn't be on the programme if they were detrimental to weight loss. I say if we are allowed them, eat them and enjoy them.

Very wise, Andrea and I completely agree.

Our diet is already restrictive enough, why restrict it even more?

Stick with the program 100%, Moni, and make sure you keep up your water as that effects weight loss greatly.

Hi Monica,

I thought that once we are in 2kgs of our goal weight is when we can start thinking about refeed. If you are so close to goal, you should contact your clinic to see if you are ready for refeed now.

Well done on your loss so far...FANTASTIC!

Kirst

I also think you should eat all your fruits and crispbreads. Well done on your weight loss. You will loose the other little bit of weight on refeed to get to goal. I actually stopped 3kgs above goal as I was happy with what I achieved and couldn't stare the Cohens' foods in the face anymore.
I never encourage deviating, but my first deviation was after 7 wks on Cohens and I lost the most weight that week (besides for the first week). It was like the moment my body got more food my metabolism spead up a little bit.

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for your positive comments... Really appreciated. I think that I have done myself an injustice by not eating the allowed amount of fruit and crispbreads. I will be doing just that from now on. Today I feel REALLY tired and lacking any energy.

I got my refeed yesterday but didn't want to start it just yet as I still want to lose another 5kg at least... Not sure now, given how I feel today if I should continue to try to lose weight or just go on the refeed..

Anyway, thanks again.

Monica

HI Monica,

Try eating all your fruit and crispbread. Are you taking your vitamins and minerals - very important particularly as you approach refeed. Listen to your body - it will tell you when there is no more fat to burn by getting extremely hungry - very important to listen and not get stuck on the magic number you want to be.

Hi everyone,

Thanks Shanara for your positive comments... Well, for meal 2 and 3 Wednesday and all meals Thursday & Friday I ate all allowed fruit and crackers and this morning (I was very naughty) I jumped on the scales and I have lost another 1kg.... I WON'T be skipping any fruit or crispbread in future..

Thanks again everyone..

Best wishes

Monica
