Default Lunchroom Cooking 101

OK – if you want to know the easiest way to do something ask the laziest person you know and they’ll come up with the answer! So if you don’t want to make all your meals in advance and like to leave it till later then I have some tips for you for making 100% Cohen’s meals at work. That includes breaky, lunch, dinner and dessert!

Resources needed
• Microwave
• Sandwich toaster
• 500ml pyrex jug or similar
• Alfoil (I use the think one)
• Spray oil
• Assortment of herbs, spices, vinegar, salt, pepper, curry etc (whatever is approved and tickles your fancy)
I keep the jug, alfoil, oil and condiments in my draw – they don’t take up much room.

Preparation at home
• Weigh and package your vege allowance – eg mushrooms, cauliflower and green capsicum are my favs
• Meat portion – weigh in portion sizes - have it thinly sliced or if it’s mince squash it really flat and then freeze in labelled clippie bags

One the day
• Chose what veges and meat you want and take them to work

Recipes

Breaky – egg and mushroom scrambled delight (just made that up)
• Beat egg in bowl and add ½ a shell of water whilst beating
• Add salt, pepper etc
• Add thinly sliced mushrooms
• Zap in microwave on very short bursts until they are almost done
Egg that is over cooked turns into rubber so beware!
Eat with a nice cuppa

Lunch
• Thawed meat and veges from home
• Get your alfoil and pull out enough to make a nice parcel around the meat so it can be a single layer of meat in the sandwich maker
• Spray the inside of the foil and place your meat – add herbs, spices etc
• Wrap the meat up like a present so there are no gaps and the juices can’t leak
• Cook in the sandwich toaster – checking to see it isn’t overdone
• Whilst the meat is cooking zap your veges that you have just seasoned
Sit down and enjoy tormenting your colleagues with the yummy food smells you have just made!

Dinner
• Grab your jug and place in it your veges, meat and seasoning (curry works really well or garlic)
• Fill it with diet dry ginger ale (yep that’s right) and top of with water if needed
• Zap in micowave until meat is cooked and veges are softish
Sit down and enjoy tormenting your colleagues with the yummy food smells you have just made!

Dessert
• Grab your trusty jug
• Sprinkled powered cloves and cinnamon into bottom
• Dice your apple and add to jug
• Add a can of diet sprite (yep that’s right)
• And zap for 5mins at 50% or there abouts
Sit and enjoy! :P

That’s as easy as it is – it also works well when visiting friends etc. Have fun.
I vary the condiments and meat and vege to keep myself interested. I have found that I can eat these foods for months without getting sick of it because of the flavour variations.

Cheers
Amanda
