Default Hello! Long intro sorry!

Hello everyone!

My name is Kate and I'm finally ready to start my second Cohen's journey... And while I am terrified and a bit overwhelmed by having 54kg to lose, Im really excited to have found this forum! I thought I would introduce myself before I start popping up on threads and to motivate myself to commit to the program!

Why am i here again? In 2004 I completed my program and lost 21.8 kg to hit my lowest adult weight (which felt pretty darn amazing!!).

I maintained that weight pretty easily until I fell pregnant in 2009... and thanks to a very complicated pregnancy and some fairly major hormonal issues I gained 48kg while pregnant! But against the odds we got our healthy beautiful son who is now 3.5. Things were pretty tough for me that first year: adjusting to motherhood, a very challenging newborn and experiencing severe postnatal depression. I didn't make much progress trying to lose weight after he was born and I now appreciate that I just wasn't in the right frame of mind.

I had just restarted on my old program with about 30kg to lose when... I fell pregnant again with our little surprise second bub. Luckily I had a much easier pregnancy and I managed not to gain quite as much the second time around but ended up delivering my baby girl at my heaviest ever... 125kg. I felt suffocated by the weight and determined to do something about it... But I also wanted to give my daughter the best start in life and breastfeed her.

Shortcut to a year later (she turns one soon) and she's finally cut down enough on her nursing to make Cohens a viable option for me. I've maintained my initial post pregnancy weight but haven't lost a gram despite dieting strictly (weight watchers, calorie king, been flunked by two dietitians) for the last 8 months. I have mostly been on a very strict diet the last year as she has severe food intolerances (which affect her even through breastmilk if I eat the wrong foods).

My old clinic has since closed but a new clinic near me advised to try my old program for four weeks and see how I go (lovely, lovely consultant correctly guessed that a new program isn't quite in the budget just now!) but did warn I may need a new one due to all the hormonal ups and downs. I'm just going to cross that bridge when I come to it!

So, anyway, I have 54kg to lose to get back to my old skinny weight of 64 (my cohens goal range is 61-64 but I get a bit too bony around 62). Ive ambitiously set myself a challenge of achieving a healthy weight within 7 months (the timeline to my next birthday) I've weighed and cooked my lunches and dinners for the next 5 days and managed to get through day 1 today ok... Well I survived anyway! I hung some of my gorgeous size 10 clothes front and centre of my wardrobe to keep me motivated

That's my back story anyway. I'm really excited to start writing my new story ... I'm visualizing myself posting on here about achieving my goals and looking forward to "meeting" you all!

I chose the forum name "happy healthy mama" because that's what I'm working towards, and what my littlies deserve!

Wish me luck

Kate

Hey Kate!!

Welcome welcome!!

Although I didn't have 2 babies or the hormonal changes that come with that, I am currently redoing my program with some success!

Where are you located?

My former consultant also suggested I try my old program for 4 weeks and when I emailed her the results, she said to definitely keep using it! I just loved how it wasn't just about the money!! Gotta love Cohens!

I look forward to following your journey!

Oh and also I had a similar amount to lose as you... My ticker goal is my original finishing weight of 66... But my goal these days is 58-62, but I'll be crossing when I get closer!

Thanks so much guys! I'm not sure about others being able to learn things from me but my family often tells me I'm a know it all so no doubt I'll have something to say about something!

I just realised I posted this in Forum Announcements instead of New Members, not sure I can move the post over to where it should it be?

I'm in Perth, and I've gotta say I am really hoping the old program works! Glad to hear yours is working for you Missy

Day 2 is going well so far, had a ROUGH night with the baby so feeling pretty tired and hungry initially but ate my baked egg and zucchini "quiches" and by the time I'd done the school/daycare run and made it into work I feel great again. Oh and I couldn't resist weighing myself this morning (bad habit I know) and I'd dropped 900g, yay! I'm going to try and wait (weight til next week to weigh again. I will start a diary soon so I'm writing this in the right spot, don't have my plan here to get the number to apply for a diary.

Hope everyone has a great day out there in Cohens Land.

Hey Kate!
One of the mods will be able to move this thread to the right section. Easy peasy!

Yay for a 900gram loss!!! I found weighing often in the beginning really helpful to get through any detox, hungries and cravings!

Wowee!!! Fantastic first week loss!! Most people (on other diets) would be lucky to get that kind of result in the first month! Congrats!!! It is soooo worth it, huh?!

Hi Kate,
i also am doing this for the 2nd time - i actually went and re-signed and got a new program. After reading a lot of peoples posts that are doing for the 2nd time and using their old program and having success I am kind of thinking I should have just tried my old program first and saved my money, haha. But its done now and its working again. I have lots to lose and find this forum really good, the people are amazing with their support. I have been struggling over the last couple of weeks but am determined to not give up and take each day as it comes.

I wish you well with your journey - we can all do this, (thats what I keep telling myself).
