Default HappyMe's journey to a NewMe :)

Hi all,

This is my first post in any Cohen forum. I'm 39, mom of two. Started Cohen at 69.6kg on 4 May 2008. Almost 6 weeks on, and I'm now 61.8kg, a loss of 7.8kg. Pretty darn amazing. Dr Cohen's goal weight for me is 60-63kg, but I'm hoping to get to 58kg before starting refeed. I'm at my lowest weight now since I had strep throat 3 years ago.

Like most of you, I've tried it all, slimming centres, pills, atkins, herbalife etc. Earlier this year, I did atkins for the 2nd time in about 10 years, lost 4.5kg in 10 days but started getting dizzy and having huge cravings. Put on all that and more the next month. I was resigned to being overweight until I came across Cohen. Was skeptical if I could stick to the programme, but it's been soooo easy after the first week. I'm drinking more water than I ever did all my life, and eating healthier than I ever did too. I love the food I'm eating so much. I have loads more energy and sleep tonnes better too.

The one thing I did not follow was weighing monthly. I weigh every day and I'm glad I did. Cos for about 10 days I wasn't losing much, and now I think it's because I was eating the wrong cut of beef steak. I thought it was lean enough but maybe it was still too fat. I've stopped eating steak and the weight loss has continued. If I hadn't weighed daily, I wouldn't have known about this 'deviation'.

Wish everyone all the best in your journey. This forum has been so useful to me and I'm sure it'll be essential when I get to the refeed and maintenance stages.

Hi Happyme,

Welcome aboard the good ship "Newyou". You're already off and running, eh? In fact, almost done !!! You're sounding pretty positive about things - so, good for you !!

Yeah the "only weigh once a month" does have its downside. A bit of positive affirmation (jumping on earlier), or "catching devi's early" is one GOOD reason for not waiting a month.

I picked you might be from North America (somewhere) - wanna share?

Thanks Koh & Louise, yeah, I hope to be done in a month and start refeed before mid-July cos I have a Barcelona holiday planned for end July-early August, definitely don't wanna miss any paella or tapas.

I'm still discovering things about what halts my weight loss and what triggers it; for now, what's working (besides this forum!) is Bfast of mozzarella baked with tomatos & zucchini; Lunch of rucola prawn salad; Dinner of baked chicken, fresh chilli, zucchini & tomato wrapped in lettuce or Tomyam chicken; 4 Meiji crackers and 2 apples. I'll keep to this till I get tired of it, but I'm a creature of habit and am still enjoying my meals. I know when I was feasting on grilled beef steak, oooh, so yummy, the scale didn't move, actually, it crept up!

Koh, I'm not from North America; my clinic's in Singapore, but I'm living in Moscow now. Hard to find fresh Cohen-allowable fish here, so my seafood's just prawns for now. I can't wait to have more fish choices when I return to Sg in a couple of weeks for summer hols.

Loving this programme so much.

I saw "Mom" and "beefsteak" - so immediately thought North America.

You "get around" though - what line of business are you in? Do you go abroad regularly with your work?

Welcome, Happy me. Hope to see you on the forum a lot more, for the short time you have left on the programme.

Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time.
My health is not good and my doctor is predicting all sorts of nasty things if I don't lose weight.
What else do I do? I help people make money and I help people save money. Please take a look at http://www.acnlinks.clancie.com.au/
Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).
