Hi all,

I am constantly amazed at some comments that just light a fire in me. In the past, I've come across them (and commented at the time) but now they appear "lost" in the forum.

Therefore, after coming across another "gem" tonight I wanted to create a thread where all could share similar finds. It can be a thread to come back to for inspiration, or just "feel good". Hopefully, if we all keep feeding it, the thread can remain front and centre for all to enjoy.

Here's the gem I discovered tonight (probably along with most of you):-

o I've been enjoying everyday with the mood I choose - rather than letting the scale predict the mood for the day - Cohenite (who refuses to weigh daily)

Onya Cohenite

And this one - from LonnieCee

Okay, I'll be the first to admit that post refeed, some of my choices haven't been the best, but I'm still learning and getting acquainted with this new body that is a little more sensitive than it used to be

Ecogirl (and, I'm sure, others) said this:-

I read that Dr Cohen originally designed the program to improve fertility so it seems you are in the right place!

Hmm - in my case, I just flat didn't know that. In thinking further, though, it sounded (initially) like it might only apply to the fairer sex - but WHO SAYS? With obesity becoming more and more prevalent in male and female, does this also apply to males who are obese?

I don't know the answer to that - I present it only as "a gem" - and perhaps food for further thought. Perhaps any further thoughts should be on another thread - keep this one for gems that we find eh?

Hi Kohinoor,

When I went to my initial Cohens information session, I was told that yes, Cohens diet was originally designed as a diet to boost fertility for obese women when Dr Cohen was doing his work with infertility and IVF.

It was stressed to my by my consultant that extra "precautions" had to be taken so as not to get pregnant and then have to stop the program and not go through refeed.

What they have found was that not only the women benefited but so did the men that were on Cohens. If extra precautions weren't being used, they found that women on the program were getting pregnant and the men on the program were getting their wives/partners pregnant!

I'm not sure exactly why it would work for the men but I'm guessing it has something to do with overall wellness and being healthy - also (while on Cohens) not flooding the body with unwanted and unneeded fats, sugars, additives and preservatives - and we all know that there are some pretty nasty additives and preservatives out there that have been shown to do everything from giving us rashes and allergies to increasing our risk of cancer, decreasing fertility, effecting our livers and kidneys - just to name a few things.

Who knows, it might also be an energy or even a confidence thing - men that might have been overweight for a while (and have been feeling rundown and not happy with themselves) are suddenly shedding those kilos and are feeling more happy, confident and "active"!

The program isn't advertised as a "fertility diet" though because formal studies haven't been done.

Hope this helps Kohinoor.

Natasha

I couldn't go past THIS one tonight !!! Talk about success.... and the realisation of a dream (which started with Cohens.... but, even at the end, it wasn't the end - there was more yet to come).

Jen sang to me tonight - here you go:-

Quote:
I am learning a new respect for my body. I dont pour cordial into the fuel tank of my car- as my car is worth alot to me and I respect that it needs quality fuel to run efficiently- so now I need to treat my body the same way. I have some slim friends and I dont believe that they display any of the prevous behaviours (listed above) as a part of their every day life.
I want to be "slim Jen" , so I need to start learning the behaviours of a slim girl, cos if I start to put on weight, I can only blame myself. THE BUCK STOPS HERE!
Yep, I'm a revhead - so the car analogy hit me. Jen's words are so true whether you're a revhead or not.... To read her whole post, go here:-

Well done, Jen (Princess Sunbeam) - another gem in the making methinks

Hi all,

I thought these words were SO important - they expand on the usual acceptance of "what constitutes a deviation".

I often marvel at the "turnarounds" that can and do happen on here. This is one of those turnarounds. Sickness hadn't helped at all.... but, in the end, the results were there for Sissa.

Probably more than the earlier quote, THIS one sang to me !!! Great thoughts, Sissa. You were the initial beneficiary - but, thanks to your words, many more can learn from your success.

Thanks for sharing this gem, champ

I found one which I thought was great from....EVAVE

Ur tastes will change, just give them time to change and u will (one day soon) realise that food is just food and was designed to keep u alive and not for ur tastebuds to have a "party" and request entertainment (ie food) whenever they want..

It's so true and one that I am learning about everday...

Hi all,

Baloo provided a ripper - and yeah, I know it's been said in other forms from other posters too, but here's Baloo :-

Quote:
Having read asy's latest post and Kristine's reply, I realise I need to change my mindset. I cannot allow myself to think it's over soon because it's not. I have terminal obesity. It's not going to go away. I have found a wonder drug that has controlled my condition and reduced it. Once I finish this treatment I will be in remission. I need to stay vigilant and make sure I don't lapse back into the old habits or else my condition will reappear.
Bit of a long one, but the truth therein is valid, isn't it? Meanwhile, Baloo seems to go from strength to strength in his diary. Probably because of his "take" on the situation (above).

Another gem, Baloo - keep 'em coming,

Kdr

Lonniecee, take a bow

What a gem this is:-

Quote:
I feel great and I look it too (I must, everybody tells me I do ). My kids are proud, my hubby is proud, my parents and brothers can't believe it and are very, very proud. BUT, most importantly, I am proud of me and what I have achieved. This is a feeling that I want for everyone on the programme and this forum and for anyone striving to lose weight, be healthier and happier. If only we could bottle it....................
This feeling is what can be down the track for all those currently striving to stay the course. For many it is already happening, week by week - but how much better will it all be at completion?

K

PS Don't forget to post those "gems" that you see too. Hopefully this thread can become a source of inspiration on those down days.

Baloo - as he finishes refeed - WOOHOO !!

Quote:
This programme is 90% mental. Look at your weight loss from the positive angle and you'll find it's a lot easier to do. try and look at it from a negative, and every day is just that little bit harder.
Maybe obvious to many on here - but useful to recant for those newer readers who are "looking for the way through".

Default The power of planning...

A gem from Debs who got front row seats to Cirque du Soleil (you lucky duck, Debs) and planned to take along her own "eats" so she wouldn't deviate:-

Quote:
Here's what I took...
Fresh red onion and parsley and tomato bruchetta....slices of mozzerella cheese and crackers...

We got to the VIP tent...and there was free food and wine....So I let hubby get what he wanted...and then I pinched his plate...

On his plate I laid out my crackers, spooned my bruchetta on (which had marinated together nicely) and laid over a few slices of mozzeralla cheese... Then I took out my spinach...and spooned the rest of the bruchetta over it and mixed in the cheese (which I broke into lumps) Then I got a tall glass of iced water.. And sat down to eat it...

A lady came up to take the seat next to me and she looked at my plate and said...Where did you get that?, that looks delicious!

So I didn't feel deprived or tempted at all...
Isn't it nice when others make passing comments like that !! Can't help but help, eh? Onya Debs - glad you enjoyed the show.

Baloo again - what a gem

Quote:
To all of you on the programme or thinking of starting it, know that if you really really want to lose weight, Cohen's will help get you there quicker than most other diets and in healthier condition. It's not the miracle ingredient or the missing link, it's just an aid to get you there. The real magic is in your head and once you start to believe in yourself and believe that you DO have the power and control over every little thing that goes into your mouth, you'll find that Cohen's will lead you down the path to health
Read that bold bit again. That is GOLD !!! Onya Baloo,

Pandora, to me, your words are gems - such a positive attitude that you display constantly. And many others here are the beneficiaries of your well-chosen words over MANY posts. Don't ever leave, hey?

AAAh, thank you Koh, i love the idea of creating a "hidden gem"! It feels like a special award! And as for not ever leaving - i cant imagine NOT being on this forum while some of my new buddies are still on their personal journey - by some i mean those that dont finish before me cos i know we can ALL do it in style! And, as new people keep waking up to the magic of this program and joining us, looks like i'm gonna be around for quite a while after refeed! The way i see it, keeping in touch after refeed may be the one thing that will keep my weight off! For ever! Yoohoo! P

These forums are a great idea! Since discovering this forum only recently it has made me really think...

I believe that each day we have a choice; we can choose to be happy, sad, angry or miserable and we have a choice on how that emotion will impact our food choices. Often the moods of others can have a huge impact on us as well.

"Every day is irreplaceable so don't ruin yours by allowing the negative moods of others to bring you into their frame of mind"
