Thumbs up Hervey Bay Shrinker's Diary

I have been doing Cohens for almost 9 weeks now and have lost 18kg to date. I have not deviated at all, and am finding it very easy to follow. I find it is easy when you are organised and thinking ahead so that you have your meals either prepared earlier or know exactly what you are going to be eating for the next meal. My weight loss has started to slow down now, so I am not loosing as much as I was earlier on, but the comments I am getting from other people are very encouraging and it really makes you even more determined. This program is great and the easiest diet I have ever been on. I don't feel hungry at all and don't even find myself even thinking about food, infact I have to remind myself to eat at mealtimes as I am not hungry most of the time. My workplace often celebrates birthdays etc and all sorts of goodies sit on the tea room table but as long as I have my apple, I don't even crave what is on offer. I hope everyone does well on the program, and I look forward to talking to you again soon. I am trying to get a group together in Hervey Bay and surrounds for social gatherings so see the get together section for more information if you live in this area.

Thumbs up

Welcome HBS!!
Congrats on great losses for your 9 weeks of being on the program! It's wonderful when you get the lovely comments, and it is so motivating as well!
You have so got your head in the right place, and you are so right about it all being about planning and having strategies in place!

Keep up the great work!!

Vee

Welcome, HBS. You sound like you're similar to me. I've never been tempted and have found the diet easy, although I'm certainly ready for the end of it by now. You've had great losses so far. Well done.

My health is not good and my doctor is predicting all sorts of nasty things if I don't lose weight.
What else do I do? I help people make money and I help people save money. Please take a look at http://www.acnlinks.clancie.com.au/
Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).

Hey HBS,

You are doing REALLY well !! Many would kill for such results

This sounds like the start of a Diary. If you don't already HAVE a diary, we can make this yours, and move it into the Diary pages.

Would you like me to do this?

If we do this, I'd change the title from "Hi there from a HB newy" to "Hervey Bay Shrinker's Diary".

Waddaya reckon? Let me know - here, or PM - either way,

Koh

Thumbs up I have uploaded my before and after photos!!!

Well I have gone and done it..... Yes, I have put those YUKKY photos on the forum for you all to see. It does feel good though to see the difference and makes me all the more determined never to revisit that big side of me again.

Thumbs up Week 12 blood test tomorrow!!

I am about to do my week 12 blood tests tomorrow (Monday), and another weigh in. Still going strong with following cohens 100% and still have my daugher by my side still deviation free too. My daughter has lost 18kg to date (she is two weeks behind me as she was ill with the flu when I started so we postponed her start date until she was well again). On the weekend I discovered I have actually met one of the members before (many many years ago- about 24 to be precise), she lives in Darwin and I live in SE Queensland, so how funny is that??? It really just goes to show it is a really small world.

Hey HBS!!

OMG!!! what fantastic results in such a short time. That means you are averaging a loss of just over 2kgs a week! AWESOME!!!

A huge CONGRATULATIONS on also passing that halfway milestone!
It is so exciting to see the numbers on the right hand side get smaller and smaller.

I checked out your photos just before I got caught up in all my own stuff, and you are looking fabulous! Way to go!!

I may be up Hervey Bay way some time in November, not sure yet when. Otherwise will definitely be up there in the week after xmas, but I guess most people will be holidaying themselves then as well.
I think a support group is a great idea, as a lot of people need that personal support and contact!

Hope the blood test went well as the weigh in!

Vee

Talking HBS's Breast Screening experience today.

This afternoon I am sooo happy and thankfull. As I have been loosing weight, I have been able to feel lumps and bumps in my breasts that I have never felt before. I visited my GP last week to check these out and she sent me for a mammogram and ultrasound of which I had to wait over a week to have my appointment (very stressful time)!!! Thankfully, it was all OK, and what I was feeling was some glands, and cysts which are all fine and most probably there for a while (under the fat)!! Whilst all was well with me, it is still important to check our breast regularly to detect any changes that may occur in our breast tissue and act upon it. Like I wrote above, we can expect to feel more as we loose more weight (especially the ladies with larger breasts to start with). Overall, I was impressed with my non-deviation through this difficult stressful time. In days gone past (pre Cohens), I probably would have eatten myself stupid given the same circumstance.

By the way, the mammogram was not that bad- I have heard some awful stories from people but thankfully mine was just fine. I am not 40 yet so have never had one before from Breastscreen clinic- I always thought they would be painful.

Hi HBS

Came by to see how you are going. And fantastically by the looks of it. 24kgs in 11 weeks. I am sooo jealous . Seriously well done, that is a super dooper fantastic effort. Same with your daughter too.

I have heard horror stories about mamograms too. Like slam your boob in the car door, drive over it with the car when freezing cold, things like that. Doesn't make me want to go have one Though I know they are a necessary evil just like pap smears.

Happy losing

Katie

Default HI

Hi HBS,
I been reading your diary but have not posted till now.
You are doing so great and looking fantastic too!!

Funny when I first read your diary I thought it said Hervey Bay STINKER......and thought what a weird name....DDAH, read it properly after a few times,,,SHRINKER is much better.

Glad the mammogram went well, not alot of fun, but I think it depends on the person doing them, Ive had bad, very bad & good.. My lumps have been more in the top part of my boobs.....my god some of them almost try and put your neck in there too.
Feel like saying , hey.. those stretchy things are attached to my body love.
Glad all ok for you though.

You are going so well, this will be over in no time for you.
Happy days
Tara x

Glad to hear the good news with regard to the mammogram! Mmm, I hadn't thought of that aspect, so I'll be checking myself to make sure all is ok too! Thanks for the heads up!
Well done with sticking to the program in stressful times! It's those times that you learn how to master those sabotaging monsters, and you feel so good when you have not reverted to those old demons! You deserve a HUGE pat on the back!

I'll definitely message you to catch up when I come to Hervey Bay. Hopefully it is not too much of a flying visit (which it usually is, visit relative and then leave again).

Will keep you posted!
Keep going strong!

Vee

Hi HBS

I am fairly new to this forum but thought I would pop in, introduce myself, say hi, put the kettle on ...cup of tea?

Good to hear your mammogram was Ok and the experience was not too horrible. I hate them so now I have thermal imaging - they don't squash your boobs - feels beter and they say can detect before mammogram.

Your weight loss is inspirational - wow so quickly you are loosing it - guess it still feels like a long time.

Well Done
Shanara

Thumbs up The support I am getting at work!

As today is my birthday (last year before the big 40!!). At work we celebrate each staff members birthday by one staff member being assigned anothers birthday to prepare special culinary delights such as a cake, or whatever. Well, the person who did mine today was so lovely and prepared a giant fruit platter for everyone to share. Whilst I could not eat some of the fruits on the platter, there were many that I was able to enjoy. I thought this was such a supportive action to bring something in for me that suited my weight loss program. The girls at work are just little treasures!!
