FlaMie's Diary - Read On!
Hi all,
I actually keep a diary on another forum so I've decided to shift what I've wrote over there, here and maintain both sides Ok, this is what happens on Day 1: I started my Cohen Journey on 23 Feb 2009. I must say that I'm most impressed with some of the weight losses that others have achieved. Hence, I've decided to chart my own weight loss and hopefully it can help to inspire otherw who are undecided to join the programme. Certainly hope that my journey can be an inspiration! Also, I would like to hear from like-minded individuals who are also going through this programme. Let's keep to our goal together! The road ahead will not be as lonely as we continue to support one another .Let's Keep to our goal together! The road ahead will not be as lonely if we stick together . Day 1 was really fine. It was a Monday working day. I had to get up by 5.20am to cook my breakfast and lunch. Already 1 BIG change for me. Never woken up so early before. However, because I'm new to the programme, the excitement got me going. I cooked a hard boiled egg with fresh lettuce for brekkie and stir fried vege and chicken for lunch. No problem with hunger...it all went very well. The day passed without me feeling very much hunger. I didn't need to rely on the crackers. In fact, I had to remind myself to eat them!

Day 2 on my journey
Today happens pretty much like Monday. The excitement continues to linger. I continue to wake up as early to cook.
The head was beginning to pound and it didn't quite go off. I was reading somewhere that this is actually the caffeine withdrawal. I used to take up to 3 cups of tea with milk and now not having 1 to start the day is certainly taking a toll on me. Guess it won't be long, I've been forwarned of the headache so I'd just bear with it. Dinner was excellent! I experimented with chicken / mushroom / chilly / dry chilly flakes...oh so yummy. There's also the stir fry vegetables...I count myself lucky that I love veges and loads of it in fact. I'm actually not much of a meat eater, I just love loads of carbo with veges...strange huh. The carbo killed me slowly with the weight pile on but slowly I'll be weaned off carbo on the programme. Fight ON! |

One Week Old
I've finally completed my 1 week mission into impossible! Well, to say the least, I've not actually deviated, hooray! I certainly hope that I can stay deviate free till the end of the programme.
To be honest, weekend is terrible. During the work week, generally work keeps me busy and forget about everything else...but weekend is touchie! I've decided to just stay home and not go out because I'm rather particular with the standard of sanitation! Well, this weekend proves to be ssssoooooo much longgggggggeeeeeerrrrrrrrrr than normal. Gone are the headaches which is a good thing. Well, I've lost 4kg in my first week...not too bad I should say. Never really lost that much before in a week on any previous diet. However, the weighing machine has kinda stopped moving after the 5th day and the weight has remained pretty much the same for the last 2 days. Oh well, still I should be happy that it has at least moved! I hope that this coming week will be good and I can lose another 1-2kg. I hope to hit my first goal REAL soon! |

The 8th Horrible Day
Arggggghhhhh I really HATE today! Today being Monday and the 8th day of my programme...I'm dreading it. I've contemplated sooooo many times to just give up. I was so hungry the entire ... what's wrong with me??!?!?! HELP!!! Worse news...the stupid weight machine hasn't moved a single bit even though I didn't deviate for the last 8 days! Oh gosh...really...what's wrong?! The machine just stopped moving after the 5th day and the last 3 days it kinda freeze movement and this is irritating me. The hunger is just robbing my attention from work and I simply can't concentrate...any help from anyone out there????
It was so much wayyyy better after dinner. I didn't feel the need to eat after dinner and I still have 1.5 crispbread left + 1 fruit. Nonetheless the day is killing me but let's hope tmr will be better. Who can tell me when they stop feeling hungry and go smooth on the programme? Or is it just that they give the Asians smaller portion of food?!?!?! Oh well, anyway, I'm hitting the sack right now and will be back for more updates tomorrow...oh please God, don't let me deviate...AMEN!

Day 10 and still going - UNDEVIATED!
A nice 10-day completion to my Cohen programme today. I continue to stay on the programme believing what many have advised that the programme will certainly work. I'm beginning to get the hang of ignoring my hunger pangs and just grit my teeth and push my energy / attention somewhere else. Water wise I've been drinking more than 3L these 2 days - must be the weather...nonetheless a good thing, except that it's a mad rush to run to the nearest toilet after each class (about 30 mins) hahaha . So afraid that I would not be able to make it one of these days...gosh, unthinkable!!!
I stepped onto that horrid weighing machine today and think I saw another kg drop today...yes! That makes 5kg over 10 days...woohoo!!! So, I'm unofficially down to 82kg. Certainly hope that I can meet my first goal real soon. I haven't been a 70s girl for a long long long time. Physically I think I still look the same, hardly any change...but I think I've lost a couple of inches off my chest (gasp!) as my shirts are beginning to hang loosely. I've also noticed about 2 inches drop in my waistband...well and good. I know my journey ahead is still long and arduous to say the least but I guess I'm off to a good start with these small improvements. Certainly looking forward to end my programme by July *hopefully* as I've got a big function coming along and I don't want to miss it for good . |

Hi Flamie
WELCOME to the forum!!! You are doing an AWESOME job... Honest in your diary. keeping up the motivation. NOT DEVIATING - CONGRATULATIONS!!! And, you are among the very best for the amount of weight you have lost and the inches you are losing - truly, a 5kg loss in 10 days is AMAZING!!! To put this into perspective for you, I have been on the program for 52 days and I have lost 11kg... This works out to be around 1.5kg per week on average.... I had bigger losses in the first week, and then smaller losses after that. We all have very different journeys on this road. For me, I was hungry for a few weeks. I couldn't concentrate on anything at all in the first week (i was addicted to thinking about food and reading this forum), and found it difficult to concentrate in the second week. Now, I am not focussing on food, and I am not hungry (only occassionally before a meal). I have also learned not to worry about the scales not moving. I have found that I can have the same weight for over a week - the scales not moving at all, then a drop. So, I don't weigh myself every day any more - if I didn't see the scales going down I got REALLY upset and angry, and wanted to just give up because all the effort I was putting in every day wasn't translated to losing weight every day. So, I changed my habits, and feel far better about my efforts. I am sure you will be able to create habits for yourself that keep you in the absolute best mindset for success. The more you worry about NOT losing weight, the more likely your body will hang on to the fat!!! Finally with the food - I actually cook up my lunch the night before so I don't hvae to get out of bed too early. Once again, WELCOME and CONGRATULATIONS on fabulous fat losses so far!!! Fi

Hi Fiona, thanks for dropping in and encouraging me on...need all that people can give .
Well, I don't know if my weight loss is good but I can honestly say that I've not deviated a meal at all. I've also begun to drink more than 3L of water...just a quick question, any difference if I gulp down water or sip through the day? Wow, I salute your determination to stay on track for 50 over days! I'm not sure if I'm able to do it myself and certainly hope to have your kind of achievement. Nonetheless, at least I'm happy that some weight has kina dropped off me . Yes, I've also turned to cooking my next day's lunch the night before to reduce the agony of having to wake up early in the morning to cook. However, 11 days on and I'm beginning to get a little tired of almost the same food every day. I wish there are more Asian recommendations around. Hope to hear more good news from you and certainly looking forward to seeing your after photos! woohoo! |

11th Day Story
Today is an extremely hectic day. I knew and was prepared that today will be busy but I didn't think it would get to this level.
Upon reaching my work place, I was immediately swarmed with a task and because of that, I totally forgot to place my lunchbox into the fridge! I almost freaked out when I recalled at about 12. However, I wasn't able to do anything about it as I was in a meeting which lasted till 2.20pm!!! Gosh, I had my breakfast at 6.30am and that was a good 8 hours! However, strangely, I didn't feel hungry at all...which is an extremely WONDERFUL thing. I prayed so hard that the lunch wouldn't have turned bad else I'll be in for trouble. Well, good thing it didn't. After was filled with even more meetings and I was tied up at my workplace till 7.20pm!! Duh! That meant I was going to have a late dinner of more than 5 hrs from lunch . To worsen the situation, I was caught in a BL**** traffic jam! That got me soooo frustrated that I had to source the best alternative route home but still, that took me another 40 mins. Yes, I was home at about 8.20pm. Then I quickly got down to preparing for dinner and by the time I could eat, it was already 8.50pm...sigh...almost contemplated of just buying takeaways halfway to home...good thing I didn't but the hunger was almost unbearable! I am proud to say the very least that I managed a good 11 undeviated days and that's a good 33 meals! Wow! Never knew I could have this level of determination. Let's wish for a good day tomorrow. |

Hi Flamie
You are doing very well. we have around the same amount of weight to lose and you are dropping it quicker than me. maybe cause i keep eating out. I think this 4 - 6 week time is the worst as some of the inital exciement has worn off as well as the Kg's. Try some of the recipes on this forum. It helps with the food bordem. keep it up Zanne |

Hi FlaMie, Hey little sister, just thought I would pop in to your diary over here, for a change. I read maintenance diaries & maintenance threads often in this forum, but am going to actually post more often I think. I thought I would make yours the first diary to start in. Enjoy your week-end & as SMS says, get plenty of sleep & see that HGH gets to do it's work, cheers, xo Cate.

Trudging through Day 12
I don't know why I'm so mentally weak today. I almost crashed in around evening time. I so much wanted to just deviate from the programme and have a hearty meal somewhere since it's the weekend over here. I guess the efforts put in in the last 2 weeks managed to stop me from deviating. I eventually told myself forget it, have a diet coke and just carry on...bite the bullet!! Yes, I managed to clear the day - another deviation free day. Certainly glad that I didn't disappoint myself.
My husband has his friends over and ohhhhh they brought over herbal chicken...yummy...but I DIDN'T EAT IT! They almost literally stuffed it down my bowl of Cohen soup which I managed to retract in time...gosh...no way am I going to feed my body with that oily stuff...not just yet. I'm glad to say that I'll be hitting 14 days by Sunday. I certainly hope that I'll be 100% deviation free. Not easy I know...but guess there are many out there who have done it, why can't I? To be continued ... |

Hi Flamie,
Am so proud that you have successfully rid your mind of the mouth-watering food! There are so many temptations (and I am almost salivating at the thought of herbal chicken) but KUDOS to you!!! You did it again!!! |

13th Day - Hitting Half Mth!
Woke up for breakfast at 9.15am today and had this yogurt. Well, not too bad, getting used to having yogurt for breakfast. Sour surely but well, heck, it is fast and oil free.
Lunch was chicken/cauliflower/wongbok stir fry and stew...yummy except that chicken breast meat really aint suited for stew...it got real tough but the vegetables were delicious and I wished I could have more...I'm a real vege person and not really that into meat...sigh but Cohen programme talks about food balance I really need LOADS of ideas before I get bored with the same food all the time - day in and day out. I really want to hang on to the programme as long as I can. Know what? Today I was out after breakfast and simply refused to have lunch outside...despite my relatives being around. I insisted to go home to cook my lunch...YES I DID IT but that was a good 6 hrs after breakfast when I had my lunch...so was darn hungry and gobbled down my food. I don't feel full at all! I'm so afraid that I would get hungry soon again. Wishing I won't of course. Anyway, I hope that I can hit my first goal of 79.9kg really soon...could it be in a day or two? I'm finally below 180 pounds and about 0.5kg away from 80kg...hhhmmm yipee! After that I'll be looking at 5kg target all the way (hopefully) to my ideal weight. |

My First Half Month! Yoohoo!
Boy, I'm so happy that I've hit my first 2 weeks on Cohen - UNDEVIATED 100%,YOOHOO! I've managed another 200 grams loss this morning from yesterday and that brings me to 80.3kg unofficially!!!! That makes it REAL close to 7kg loss this month and my target for this month is just to go below 80kg and yes I think and believe I can make it with another 2 weeks to spare...oh happiness!!!!!
I got myself a digital scale yesterday to check on a more precise weight loss. It suddenly dawn on me that I've not hit the 70s for a LONG time - not in the last 3 years at least. Gosh! If you see my starting weight, at 87kg, I really can't believe that I've been carrying those extra weight around for nothing for so many years! With this little weight loss, I'm beginning to feel a whole lot better about myself - less panting even if I'm to walk a bit faster / climing up 4 levels of a building. Guess this has made me even more motivated to stay undeviated till my goal weight. LONG JOURNEY TO GOAL WEIGHT BUT IT'S WORTH IT! Oh yes, my next motivation is to be able to put up some photos real soon once I hit the 75kg mark! On my way to being the real FlaMie
