The Lemon Drink
THE LEMON DRINK!! Hey Guys! Obviously there has been a lot of talk about the lemon drink, so I thought we needed a central thread with our tips and experiences. It’s hard jumping from all different diaries. This will also help people in the future. My experience so far after 3 lemon drinks in 5 days… Day one: One whole lemon in not enough water- whole drink fit in a 473ml bottle (16oz), and I added a decent shake of Apple Cider Vinegar. There was a lot of pulp. It was disgusting. I had to takr big huge gulps one after the other to get it down before I noticed how gross it was. I also felt queasy. But, then later I wasn’t hungry. I also didn’t eat the pulp it made me gag. I had also added a sweetener. It didn’t help. Day Two: that morning… 1 kilo gone. But no lemon drink prepared. Day Three: 1 kilo weight loss sustained. Had a lemon drink. No Apple cider Vinegar and drank it all. Pulp included. I added diet lemonade. Definitely more drinkable… I enjoyed it. I might have added too much water. Had sensitive teeth by the end of the day. Day Four: Up by 500 grams! WTF. No lemon drink prepared. Day Five (today): Still up by those 500 grams… Lemon drink had, still with no apple cider vinegar, but I may have a bit later with water gulped down like medicine. … So, while I am still in the middle of my experiment, I’ve had 3 LDs and a 500 gram loss… but tomorrow is my weigh in and I’ve technically not lost anything!!! Anyway… share your experiences and tips!! Some of my questions are… Are you a pips and all LDer? I have done pips and all, but the last 2 I cut the bits off the side- like where it joins to the branch and the other end. I thought they might be super bitter, I have no idea). How much ACV (apple cider vinegar)? I don’t even think I used that much and it was VERY vinegar-y. It was a pretty expensive vinegar I think, perhaps it was really strong. If I used a ¼ cup, I wouldn’t be able to drink it. The whole bottle IS only 250mls, so I think I’d go through the $10 bottle pretty darn quickly if I was using ¼ cup every day! When do you drink it? Before or after food? etc My first one was all before lunch, my second was all through the day (so much water added) and today I separated the batch and had half this morning and will have the other half tonight. Thanks peeps! Looking forward to a collated bunch of responses!!

Re: The Lemon Drink
i was going to make this thread on the weekend but thought there must already be one and i am just being dumb and lazy in not finding it. So thanks LD its a great idea ! i spent ages finding info in different threads
I had just the LD no vinegar yesterday and lost nothing ( which is odd coz usually the first day back after deviation is a big loss for me) today i didnt have anything but have bought the ACV to have tomorrow morning. I like the feeling it gave me ( full, clean, like im doing something ! lol) so ill try it for another 3 days

Re: The Lemon Drink
Well, this might be partially my fault.....
Tuesday 22nd Oct: 1 lemon and 1/4tsp of Cayenne Pepper (warning - deviation, cayenne is not allowed on original eating plan) remember that people - I am a debil deviator, 1/4 cup braggs apple cider vinegar (I can get just under 1L for $12 at Piko Wholefoods in Chch) and enough water to make it up to 1L - I chop up the lemons - skin, pips and all and blend it in my Vitamix. I split the drink between breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea (sometimes there is still some left for with dinner, but not tonight). Drink the pulp and pips and everthing - I have a cast iron (ish) stomach. Wed - 200gm loss (but that just took me down to my Monday weigh in as I was up on Tuesday), same recipe for Wed. Thursday - 400gm loss (so 400gm for the week) think I just had the same recipe for today. Wed and Thurs I did have some stomach gurgling and a bit of tummy upset which I think was due to the cayenne. Friday - 200gm loss (the previous week I had only lost 600gm, so I was happy with a 600gm loss from Monday to Friday). Again mostly same recipe (1 lemon, 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar, 1/2 tsp Cayenne, water). Saturday - No loss - upped cayenne to 3/4tsp. Sunday - 600gm loss - used two lemons, 1/4cup ACV, 3/4 tsp Cayenne (new cayenne as my old stuff was over a year old, this stuff is much brighter in colour, and I think, a lot spicier - glad I started with the other stuff), water to 1L. Monday - no loss - same recipe as Sunday (but amounted to a 1.2kg loss for the week) Tuesday (hey, that is today) - no loss again, same recipe as Monday/Sunday. Definitely think it works as an appetite suppressant - I have to remind myself to eat my crackers. I am kinda missing my second piece of fruit for the variety - but definitely not for hunger. I find the drink quite spicy (as I am not a spicy food person) and it is a bit of a chore to get it down, but I am treating it like my medicine (like the cohens programme). I am going to continue with it until next Wed/Thurs....then I am heading away, and if I have some awesome losses then I need to stop with the cayenne for 10 days before I want to start my refeed. I think I might continue to use this drink into maintenance to help suppress my appetite - might be a good tool for Christmas and New Years. Anyway, the saga will continue - I will post here to let you know how my weight loss goes - if it continues! |

Re: The Lemon Drink
Great thread LD.
I am a massive advocate for the lemon drink - Jessy's diary is testament to that. My recipe that I use is 2 whole lemons 50 mls Apple Cider Vinegar 200mls water 2 sweeteners Blend it all up - comes out the thickness of a smoothie, split into three cups, and down it with every meal. There are many health benefits of lemons - the two biggest are lemons’ strong antibacterial, antiviral, and immune-boosting powers and their use as a weight loss aid because lemon juice is a digestive aid and liver cleanser. Lemons contain many substances--notably citric acid, calcium, magnesium, vitamin C, and limonene--that promote immunity and fight infection (limonene even fights cancerous cells) and current research also says in helps reduce anxiety and has a notable calming effect. Lemons are also really high in pectin fibre, which helps fight hunger cravings, and a recent study shows people who have a more alkaline diet do in fact lose weight faster, although on Cohens it's fast anyway. I mainly use it for the calcium which stops the build up of fat, appetite suppressant, and it's a natural diuretic so it keeps me um... Ver regular, even on cohens. I use the apple cider vinegar because being rich in natural minerals, vitamins it makes it a great addition to any detox. The unique acids in apple cider vinegar bind to toxins and help the body eliminate them more effectively. Recent studies suggested that it also may aid in weight loss by stabilising the blood sugar for a longer period and helping to control the appetite. In addition to the lemon that's a kick ass appetite suppressant! It has other key benefits - aids digestion, heals warts, has antiseptic properties, makes your hair stronger, clears up acne (I could go on forever!) I never miss my fruit having them this way - recommend all trying it! |

Re: The Lemon Drink
I bought some ACV and was too lazy to come upstairs and check the recipe
I thought about video taping what happened next but didnt I used half a drinking cup ACV and 1 cup water and a few shards of chilli with about 5 drops of sweetner ( less than 1 pill) mixed it up in my mini wizz - which turns out is not in any way water proof for mixing watery liquids downed a whole glass at once. Is it wierd that i think it tastes BETTER with vinegar ?!? lol ! It hurts my throat bad but is totally bearable except that my nipples are going to shoot off (TMI) and my scowl might scar my forehead but otherwise I LIKE IT ( in the voice of Joey from friends)

Re: The Lemon Drink
Wednesday Lemon drink update (same recipe - 2 lemons, skin and all, 1/4 ACV, 3/4tsp deviation cayenne, water to 1L). This morning - loss of 200gm (loss for week since Monday, 200gm).
I found a big lemon on our lemon tree..... I am really tempted to use it as my one lemon in my next lemon drink, so I can still have another piece of fruit for variety....but I think that might be naughty thinking. |

Re: The Lemon Drink
Hmmmmm... I am thinking the ACV had something to do with my initial big loss of 1 kilo, cos then I stopped it and regained 500 grams.
I had some yesterday with a bit of water and gulped it down. YUCKKKKK. Lost 600 grams overnight. I have already had my ACV medicine this morning... I had it before breakfast and then had to lay on the couch with tummy cramps!! And back cramps... then proceeded to go to the bathroom in a 'big way' hahahaha. So I'm thinking I have lost about 1-2 kgs! hahahaha. Kidding, but seriously... cleaned me out. But were the cramps worth it?! Maybe. haha. Already had my concentrated LD for the day... so I am on track! Oh meanwhile... be careful... I splashed some ACV in my eye this morning... IT BURNS!!!!!! hahaha.

Re: The Lemon Drink
Whoop whoop go Spannah!
No change for me overnight, still 54.6 - but I did go to the gym yesterday, couldn't stay away from those heavy weights - was awesome though. So last night I had a bit of a sore crampy tummy for hours after I ate. I will have to go way back in my diary, because I think something similar happened last time as I headed into refeed - when ever I would eat (no matter what the meal) my tummy would pop out and be all bloated (like a freshly fed puppy).....I think I thought it might have been gas due to cabbage consumption last time around - I haven't been eating cabbage recently, but I did have both onion and capsicum with dinner last night (just a bit of each of course). Anyway, because of my sore tum tum last night, I decided to lay off the cayenne today as it is a deviation, and I have never been into eating spicy food. So this mornings recipe was the megalemon (treating it a two lemons), 1/4cup Apple Cider Vinegar, 1/4cup water all blended up - it was quite chunky so I put some in a glass to eat when I get home tonight, and put the rest in a snaplock container so I could eat it with a spoon at work. OMG - it is divine!!! Seriously, freeze it and call it sorbet! It is tart - but so refreshing and yummy, like dessert! I had to tell myself to stop as I was eating from the container which had two serves in it this morning! So much better tasting than with the cayenne - super yum, want to eat it as a dessert instead of an apple almost! Hopefully I will think it is this yum when I come to eat the second serve at lunchtime. Had zuchinni hashbrown (just egg and zuchinni) for breakfast and my tummy popped out puppy-like again. Will have to have a read of my diary, and check the dates and weight I was - maybe this is just what happens to me at this stage of the game. Great work you other guys with your awesome lemon losses! |
