Question

Yes have tried it but not since Ive started my diet.Quiet nice.Actually this amuses me a little because I asked my consultant recently why freshwater fish wasn't on the menu and was told it wasn't because all products had to be easy for everyone to get worldwide.I guess they export kangaroo meat???I have lots of frozen freshwater fish and was hoping to be able to use some.

Certainly do but find it rich and can only eat small portions. It's best on a bbq.

i love it.

interesting piece of info....it takes 72hrs to digest 150grams of beef and 20hrs to digest 150grms of roo.....way less fat and no injected hormones or crap....

Umm, no - it's from an unweaned calf !! Quite a difference methinks.....

Hi zojoho,

People eat lamb..... Veal is like a "lamb" version of a steer. Just enjoy it, Zo - it's good eating

Hmmm, my consultant told me try Roo... cos I was concerned about the marbled fat in the meat I could get. And funnily enough, that same day my SIL mention she had tasted roo the night before and couldn't believe how gross it was... NICE TIMING! haha. I was like, mm, that's enough for me, so NO.

I am 'pretty' sure I have had it before... and I thought it tasted like lamb- although maybe that was because the way it was served looked like lamb. I dunno... anyway, I am one of those people that a lot of my hang-ups are in my head. If it looks like lamb, I think it's lamb... and if I knew it was roo, I wouldn't have eaten it.

We used to kill them for our dogs. They sure liked it but I wouldn't eat it myself.......they were full of worms!!!! No one grows them out like cattle or pigs so there would be no "worming" programs used like domesticated animals have in place for worm control. I have heard lots of stories about roo-shooters too so to be on the safe side I just give the roo meat a miss. We used to be able to purchase deer meat at Woolies some years back but I haven't seen it in the shops for a very long time. Its lean, dark, very tasty and wasn't very expensive at all. Maybe you can get it where you live although I did try to get it whilst on holidays in Qld. and NSW and still couldn't find it in any of the butcher shops.

Roo meat is great ... the worms arnt in the meat that you eat they are in the offal that you dont.
cows can have worms as well... many farmers dont worm them as well s they should
I prefer to have shot my own roo mainly so i can see what i am about to eat and i can check out the condition of it before i cut it up
Deer can be found if you call up a deer farm, lots of them will sell you just the carcass ready to chop up for a very good price

Roo meat is beautiful but must be cooked properly otherwise it goes as tough as old boots! Crack some black pepper over it & chuck it on a nice HOT bbq. Yummo!

Did try it, but it was a no go. The following nite my poochies got roo meat for dinner.... But at least I tried it, so did my 6 year old daughter and she wasn't fussed on it either...
