Default Do Crackers Count as Carbs on Maintenance?

I was just wondering.

If I want to eat cake or some other sweet treat, can I have crackers before eating it? Do they count as 'carbs' or do I have to have the refeed carbs - i.e. rice, corn, peas, potatoes?

What about the refeed plain biscuits? Are they counted as carbs, sweet treats or are they a separate thing?

I'm just worried that I'm having too much carbs.

Hi GLT, I have been thinking about all that too!

For cake or larger sweet treats, I like to tell myself to only have them after a full meal of protein veg and carb (carbs are often just crackers though). This way I don't have room to eat much anyway.

For bite size sweet treats (like a small piece of dark choc), I am happy to have them after smaller carbs, like crackers or fruit (I still have fruit on empty stomach as snacks with no problems, its a habit from plan that I can't break!).

Plain biscuits like on refeed, I haven't felt the need to eat yet! LOL

Will be interested to hear others' take on these things though, thanks for posting this topic

I would agree with Tahli.

When I spoke to my consultant she said she was at a party and they brought out the cake. She wanted some cake so she went over to the nibbles table and had some crackers and dip so she could have a piece of cake. You could get really picky and ask yourself, well doesn't the cake have flour (carb) in it anyway?

I guess just use whatever you have around. My understanding is that you don't count your bread/crackers/plain biscuits as part of your carb 'allowance' but that you can use them as 'pre-dessert carbs' if you need to.
