What to do, use old program-but dont have refeed???
Ok I'm back again. Hi Kohinoor wherever you may be. Funny how you remember certain people from the forum. Got a question for you all. I am looking at using my old program again, however I never made it to refeed as I fell pregnant. Ok so here is what I was thinking... can you use your old program and then say 10kgs out from goal weight, can you apply for another program so you can get refeed? Strange suggestion but would appreciate advice. Thanks everyone

Re: What to do???
Hi there,
I am not sure how well that would work because as I understand it, your blood tests through your program help to determine your refeed. I found a new program worked better for me after pregnancy. I never reached refeed either on my first program due to pregnancy and I found my old program was harder to stick to than the new one that I had done. My new one worked so well. I am not sure if it is a cost thing that you are thinking of. But if you can afford it, I would start again. Good luck Butterfly |

Hey Cohenite... I'd say if you're planning on getting a program 10kgs from goal anyway, why not just get one now?
Like others said, if it is a cash thing, maybe do your old plan for now (but maybe add some extra protein and vege if you need it) till you can get a new program. I'm not sure how different your start weight is now but your dietary intake would have changed since pre-baby.

Hi Cohenite,
Welcome back !! I think there have many good suggestions already, and can't think of anything to add.... I just wanted to welcome you back (I well remember your name as being the indirect instigator of the "gems thread".... ) Koh

Re: What to do, use old program-but dont have refeed???
Hi Cohenite,
Just thought I would add my two cents worth ........ Your first port of call should be your clinic - have a discussion with them - they have a wealth of experience of what works and what doesn't. Having said that general advice seems to be try your old programme for two weeks....... if in that time you are hungry, can't stay on it then ........ it no longer works for you and you need a new programme - definitely. If your body is happy on it - you feel in balance and the weight is going then you can use it however that still leaves the problem of no refeed which will ensure failure when you get near goal weight. Refeed is an essential part of Cohens and is not to be underestimated in any way. I know of noone who has been able to maintian without doing refeed to the letter! I notice you have 60 plus kilos to loose so if your old programme works for you could keep using it whilst it works and then buy another one as your body changes. I suspect that would happen before you got to 10 kilos out. The dilemma of waiting for 10 kilos out is that you loose a lot of your blood history in the meantime. Ideally, as you don't have refeed, you would just get another programme however you may find that a tight financial decision. If I were in your position I would definitely make a call to my clinic and have a discussion with them - I am sure they would be able to widen the scope of your possabilities. Hope this helps and I am sure you will know what is right for you. Regards Shanara

Re: What to do, use old program-but dont have refeed???
Hi Cohenite,
Like butterfly I never made it to refeed as I fell preganant and it was impossible to stick to my old plan- I was hungry ALL the time, I kept thinking 'surely a new program will be no different then the one I have', I eventually ordered a new one after over year later of failed attempts and the measurements are COMPLETELY different as well as the foods in each 'line'... Your body's chemistry etc is constantly changing and your program is designed to work with your body... rememeber you've had a baby now, your body is not the same as what it use to... |
